Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Lovely weather we had today! Nice and cool so I spent some time painting the trim on the new coop. Still have one side to go then the inside needs a second coat over the OSB. Had to cull that one turkey with the splayed leg today. It was just getting too bad and it couldn't walk and get to the feeder or water any more. So now we are down to 2 turkeys for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a fun night out with the whole family last night, watched the Wausau Woodchucks baseball game. DH was invited through his work for a customer appreciation night. Free game, food and drinks! That was the first time either of us had been to one of their games.

The ladies hit the jackpot tonight, 11 eggs for 11 hens!

Evening All....welcome to the cheeseheads dvang..nothing but great folks here, with a ton of help, prolly, not at $30 a pop though.

The broccoli salad turned out delicious like always...nothing better than fresh from the garden.

I had to bring out the sevin dust today for the buttercup squash...the cucumber beetles were eating it alive leaf by leaf....hope it works and i caught it in time....dang pests...think it's prolly due to stress from no rain.

Nice pics guys.....thanks for sharing.

to the newbies!

I would love to help you out ... But I too am over rooed! I would be shot at sunrise as they crowed!

DrH ...Don't Name or make friends with roo's unless you are SURE your going to keep him!!!

TO...Sorry about your hen...cool about the gosling... Hope the ducklings will be Ok.

MLH..My ex and I built through the self help program... our group got 5 houses built in just under 5 months. I laid sub-floor, did framing, put up dry wall. taped and muded, had the baby, painted, landscaped and moved in. I was much younger then!

Carol... Can;t handle goats anymore either.

Would love to have a milk goat.

TO... hope you got your ride in!

Rudy is finding hen eggs now and bringing them in! The first one he put a tooth in... second one was perfect! I think I'll start training him to find eggs and show us the nest!

Maybe I can find the "lost" nests when the girls want to hide them!

I bet he could do it.

Nothing else for now... night!

I totally dislike soap operas...but I have to say that I am anxiously awaiting FT story about the horse offer!!!! Inquiring minds want to know!!!!! I have to say that I knew that the woman was lying when the stories kept coming along and no saddle was produced. At least you have permission to care for the horse while not owning it! So maybe by the time you get to move the horse it will trust you, be healthier, and may be able to see!

Thanks for having me :)
I'm standing firm on $30 a pop :p I've already sold couple for $30.
I never expected anyone from here to not be nice, helpful folks. Everyone here is very hospitable and inviting.
Thanks for the input. Some will be interested in these rare colored beauties, and others not so much; it just works that way.

CC... thanks, for the encouragement. I just get so ****** sometimes. I used to be just short of "Wonder Woman"! lol

He11, I built a house when I was pregos. Now just trying to vacuum is an all day job! Full time ambitions in a part time body!

FT....Sounds like your doing good working to get that horse! Thank you, thank you for deworming him! And bringing him other goodies! Sounds like talking to the ex-H is going to be the way to go. I would try to just deal with him, he can at least deal with her when the time comes. He might be able to talk her into just cutting her losses. He dose seen "OK" I hope.
Cind, somehow that doesn't suprise me one bit. I can totally picture you up on a roof, hammering away while pregnant. As MLH said,

As for your sentiment to Frenchie, x2!!!!!!!!! FT, kudos to you for using your head, and charm, to figure out the real story & get to know the ex better. He is definitely the one to try to work with. I sure hope he can talk some sense into that woman to sell you the horse at a reasonable price. And I am so thankful you are so relentless about the well-being of that horse.

No animal should be treated that way.

Carol, I'm so glad you found a home for some of those goats.

Terri, so sorry to hear about all the losses lately.

Hope mamma duck gets her butt in gear.

Welcome, dvang! Good luck selling your extra roos. They are pretty.

Nice pics, everyone! I tried taking pics of some of my boys today but they were having none of it.

There was more, but CRS has kicked in once again. I spent the day doing more weeding, trimming, laundry and raking out the chicken run (cough, gasp, dirt***), bending one of my nails backwards in the process. Could not figure out why it hurt so gosh darn much til I looked at it. It was bleeding pretty good. Wow, that smarted. Finally got a clue & put the gloves on. Should have worn them while trimming too, cuz now I have a blister. Not my day, I guess.

Wouldn't be quite so bad if I didn't have to use my hands so darn much. Guess I'd better get to bed, after feeding the fuzzy masses, of course, and making DHs lunch, and, and...... Sweet dreams, all!

good evening.. not much going on around here..

I tilled a good part of the corn patch and replanted it.. then today I bought a sprinkler can and hand watered 13 rows of corn and part of 2 rows of beans.. then I took the tractor and dragged the rest of the "corn" patch.. I was just about all finished when I snapped a tooth off the cultivator.. I think I cussed loud enough for the neighbors to hear.. I have a couple of spare blades here, so I can fix it in just a short while.. then I will finish watering the last 5 rows of corn and plant buckwheat in the dragged portion of the garden..

I had 4 calls for the last two puppies.. I think they are all wishful thinkers..

Brian's chicks are hatching as I type..

I have over 50 guinea eggs to set, and a couple of turkey and goose eggs, too..

we did not get any frost last night..

sometime this week we are going to transfer all the beby chicks back into the guinea lean to with the older baby chicks.. there is a large metal brooder back there that is more dependable than the one in their pen.. they do not need a lot of heat, just a little supplemental heat during the night..

Other Terri, yes, the guy from Point was here and took 7 guineas..
we have TerriO and OTerri..

I am going to the swap at Wave's on Sunday in Elcho.. there should be a few people there that I know.. or will get to know..

I think I will be going to bed early tonight.. see you all in the morning..
