Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening..feels good to be sitting down on a comfy recliner for sure!
Kristip--she will probably take the chick but it really does no good if you are counting on her as a layer. You might as well put a load of eggs under her if she is truly broody. You will miss out on the same amount of eggs anyhow. When TIna went broody last week I took the hose and watered her in the box. She was actually in the tortoises' box and I needed to moisten it any how. Bonus that it broke her broodiness very nicely!

Went for a really nice ride down to the park with MLH this afternoon. I actually remembered to take some pics:
MLH and Brodie just after she mounted.
Me and Commander. That is Moon in the background.

Here are the boys tied at the treeline. We stopped after our ride to have a Fish Fry at the bar. THis is how the horses looked just befor Brodie broke the tie twine. The folks in the bar were totally panicked but we went out and retied him with a much shorter rope! He had no choice but to stand then! So the FFF was delicious as usual. I saw a bunch of folks I havent talked to in a while. Very nice time had by all. THanks again MLH!

SO I had a bunch of ducks and geese hatch out again today. I took some pics and am putting them on CL beroreThe word gets out.OK--I am exhausted and the computer is typing gobbeldy gook! Guess it's time to hit the hay!
Nighties!
Have a great Fathers' Day, you that ift! Terri O

My husband bought a saddle today. It seems to work ok. He brought him on the road, through the woods, and across the river. I'll be honest, I dont like to ride. So this can be his pet. Only problem is he's very allergic. He had welts all over his arms and couldn't breathe afterwards.

TO love that fur thingy..... and riding in SHORTS!!!! I would rub my thighs raw.....

Not a drop here, I think all the rain died at the Waupaca/Portage County line.

Strawberry fest tomorrow!!!! Going to be a hot one!

Looked at car option #2 tonight. Glad hubby came along to meet the guy who operates the place. Really sweet guy, I got a good vibe from him. I would not hesitate to purchase from him either.

Ok, off to bed for me! Looooonnnngggggggg hot day tomorrow!

I thought the same thing, Bl4, about her riding in shorts. The pic of MLH sure turned out nice. Both her and Brodie are looking at the camera. Cute!

Well, the heat zapped me, so this is short & sweet. I heard that sigh of relief!

Sweet dreams, all!

good evening, DrH, the plucker with the fewer fingers would work if it had better bearings.. I made some oak bearings for it, but they are too sticky.. It would not take much to mount real roller bearings on it,.. It was manufactured without bearings at all.. just a solid rod riding inside of a pipe.. kind of sloppy.. rinky dink would be more like it.. It has only a 1/4 HP motor.. might be OK if it had real bearings.. I could be persuaded to sell it .. I was planning on fixing it up to sell, but like a hundred other projects, it hasn't happened yet..

we gave the puppies baths last night.. used a blow dryer on them.. really fluffed up the fuzz.. then today I let them out of the kennel , much to Annie's protest.. they immediately wrestled and rolled in the mud.. bath time again, tonight.. I was surprised at how well they liked the bath and the blow drying procedure.. If a dog can yawn while you are blow drying them for the first time, I figure they don't mind.. I think we have the last two sold.. will know on Sat for the female, and on Sunday for the last boy.. still have about 4 other callers interested.. One is going to Iola,, (girl)
the boy to Wis Rapids..

moved 70 smaller chicks to the big chick pen.. had to round them up and chase them into the coop tonight.. many of them fit through the diamonds in the chain link fence, but they didn't stray too far..

My brother came out and pinched off all the suckers from the tomatoes.. I staked them all and he tied string to each stake.. they are not really tall enough to tie up yet..

I wish I wasn't so lazy and did not have the buckwheat planted before the nice rain.. It is still OK,, I will hand broadcast the seed on top of the wet dirt and lightly till it in with the tiller..

I set 83 eggs tonight.. 2goose, 4turkey, 21chicken, 55guinea and one peahen..

I know there was more, but I forget..

Hi All!

DrH... Good luck with the butchering! Getting the heads off those tiny ticks can be tricky!

BBP... Wish I could help you the saddle, my uncle always took care of that. As long as I could hook my extra stirrup on (so I could get up) I didn't much care. With the exception of the side saddle.... HATED that thing! Another torture device designed by a man!

FT... Hope your hubby doesn't get laid off!

BigZ... next week when you crank up that fryer you should fry some vegies in it. A light tempora batter and pop 'em in. Yummy! Broccoli works real well.

TO... love the pics or your ride!

Nothing going on here... night.

Still no rain.... hours away from a full blown DROUGHT!

Good Morning All. Well sort of. Looks like it could rain any minute so it probably won't. Looks like a better possiblity of butchering tomorrow. Cooler, no rain. Figure if I over scaid that tick the plucker will take the head right off. Gonna be some slim pickins at the supper table maybe should get a couple more for a meal.

Think laura will be havin hot dogs she don't like ticks. Have seen this pluckers design somewhere but can't find it now I'll get a pic later. Jim I'd really like to help lighten your burden. Just the kind of guy I am. Think about it and let me know what you want for it if your willing to part with it. I hate borrowing stuff! Dang it I'm all set up. Maybe...... TO sounds like you had a good time! Bigz if I get that plucker from Jim and get it rebuilt I'd haul it over and we'd go to town! FFF sounds fantastic as always. CS I see you lurking

Good Saturday Morning,

I am ready to be done with the wedding season. Had a bigger one last weekend and an annoying one this weekend. Socially inept people should not expect to have large weddings or plan them at all. Had a family that has been together for 7 years decide to get married last December. She all of a sudden has changed the date 3 times and sent out FB messages every time to tell me.

She is rather annoying but I am excited that they are getting married. This will start a new chapter in their lives and hopefully offer more stability to them. The problem is she invited 700 people and expected them all to show up, she waited till the last minute to communicate everything and is wanting to do a dance outside at 1pm. Oh boy. I think we will get maybe 50 people...

Oh boy...

On the chicken front, I sold 16 peeps and bought 5 on Thursday. Gold Star and a Random Mystery Pullet and 3 red rangers. All the birds enjoyed the outdoors yesterday and tore up the grass and bugs in the backyard. Quite the enjoyable time watching kids and chickens interact. All the neighborhood kids came out in force to play. So much fun.

I guess it is time to get up and get moving. Enough dawdling it is time to go for a run to clear my mind and then get ready for this wedding.

KEN
