Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi folks,

finally getting some dry out here, hopefully I can get the tiller out to get a second batch of weeds in the garden,,,a real mess out there. Taters will get the deep straw mulch in the next few days,,,,,,spray them today with Spinosad hoping to get the beetles under control,,,,nothing foliar for over a week with the constant showers/t-storms

the buckwheat I planted a week ago is up 3", no wonder the weeds took off

weed whipping the electric fence line today not a favorite job but necessary, then in a week hit it with Roundup for the season

not much news on the chicken front, still don't have the roos separated, the 10 chicks inside will need the brooder shack this week, getting the Freedom Rangers on the 11th, added 20 Gold Stars to the order from Abendroth's

egg production is down to 50%, thinking it was the heat, birds got the second dose of Imonex, the coop cleaned and dusted, should eliminate the mite/lice from the picture

good luck on that fox Terri, never had much luck here trapping them,,,but shot a few over the years

sry for the loses feathered and furry and welcome to the new folks

lunch calls,,,bbl

Hi, folks.
I've been lurking as usual. Not much going on in my neck of the woods. Did want to let you know that Shopko now has their fruit trees (and a bunch of other plants) on sale for 50% off....just a heads up for those of you who may want to add to your orchards/fruit trees. I hit all 4 Shopkos in Madison today and was able to get 4 different cherry trees - sweet & sour, dwarf & semi-dwarf so I think I'm set on cherries, now! ha Will wait until prices come down further before I stock up on other fruits, it's just cherries are the first they run out of and I didn't want to miss out on them this year.... They seemed to have a good variety of pear, plums and apples - think they were all running $19 + change as the sale price. Hope you find something you want if you go!!

Stay Cool!
Elaine/Madison

Was out working on the drain for the washer and stepped around the well cover and here was Bob laying there, still alive. No blood anywhere but he only walks about 4 ' and lays down. He let me feel his guts so I'm thinkin not poison. Spine is straight no broken bones no foamin/pukin hoping he's just REAL sore in the hind qtrs. He worked his way to his scratch pad after me laying with him for about 15 min. and is resting. I put a bowl of water by him, he has to be dehydrated. He ate a little wet food but that's it. no water? Will watch him and maybe Vet tomorrow we'll see how it goes.

So sorry about Bob

. At least you have him in the house and safe. Any idea how long he was where you found him?Still could have gotten hold of a poisoned mouse, etc. maybe but just not a huge dose or just decided something looked really yummy that wasn't. For animals that can be so finicky about what they will eat out a can, it's amazing what they will eat left laying on the ground. Might try getting some electrolytes in him. If he's that weak, even if you can get a little down with a dropper it will help if just to make him feel a little better. Poor old guy.

I am SO happy you found Bob! The waiting and worrying is the absolute worst!!!

Headed to Tomah in a bit, dropping my mom off at the train station so she can go visit my brother in Minneapolis for the week.

TO the diesels of today are NOTHING like the diesels of the past. You two should wander on down to a dealership and just take one for a test drive.... you will be delightfully surprised!

So I ran to Appleton this morning and had this done....

A Henna tattoo! I can't wait to see the finished product.....

Ok have to get ready to go. Later all!

Hi!

vicki...Sounds like a great morning!

DrH... Glad you found Bob! Hope he pulls out of it! At least you have him home and can care for him.

MLH... Yep, that's the guy! I'm not sure if he has Cochins, but might know who does. I got some Doms and some Crevecoeurs from him a couple of months ago.

Clicked on the E mail instead of MSN by mistake was just talking to L about electrolites for him Vic

Have given him a couple of small droppers of water and it seems to be helping I think. his nose is totally dry and his white face looks sunburnt. Think he's REALLY dehydrated. Only giving small amounts for a starter. Tried calling the Vet DD but she's in transit to Boston for more OJT. Gotta get on line and see what they say to do. Thanks for putting up with this!
