Smokin Hot here this afternoon...sounds like we are in for dangerous hot weather here tomorrow too. I'll have to get out there early in the morn to finish tilling the last garden.

Hope your missing cats show up for you guys....we have had them gone 2 weeks and show up again...ya wonder where in the heck they went? Don't give up hope yet.

Amy, I actually like my goats. Other than them eating chicken feed they're great. Ours stay around all day long. However long they are out, they hang out. They roam around and eat dry stuff. Mine will come calling when they hear me. But they dont talk non stop. I also dont find them excessively loud. Perhaps its because theyre dwarfs? Smaller voices...?

The other day my 6 yr old was riding his bike, and they were running after him, jumping and kicking their sideways hop. It was adorable! They love when people are outside, but they arent attached to our sides either. Theres plenty of times they are jst munching away and will look at me, say hi from afar, and go back to eating. Even my hubby likes them, and he was deadset against them.

Go for dwarf Nigerians! They rock!

Looks like you got about as much as we did. That was crazy. And as far as that black ice goes, it can also be right underneath a dusting of freshly fallen snow. Don't ask how I know that one.

Ken, I don't envy you at all. What a mess you must have. I hope you get everything cleaned up quick & can get back to normal up there. You too, Tatters.

The only severe weather down here is the drought. Everything is still brown & crunchy, and now another heat wave on top of it. Feast or famine for this state this year, I guess.

I must agree with Terri on being super careful where poison is concerned. Any kind of critter, including your chickens, can get into it when you least expect it. If you have your stuff sealed up tight and they cannot find any free meals around your place, they tend to move on to better pickins. Just my 2 cents.

Vicki, your description of your "chicken cord wood" was too funny!

I agree on them being smart & brain dead at the same time too. Silly birds.

Kristi, your DS not only has an eye but some real talent & patience too. Getting a good, non-blurry chicken pic can be frustrating. Good job!

Bigz, you better try to work in your garden super early. I was just watching the weather & they said the heat index at 9AM was supposed to be 96!

Bigfam, I'm glad your hubby likes the goats. It's nice when they're wrong once in a while, isn't it?

Not much new down here. DH & I took my mom up north for the weekend to visit my brother. We had a really nice time. On the chicken front, everyone looked pretty good today, but naturally my one metal waterer had to develop a hole in it.

I'm glad you posted the link to that waterer, Bigz. I think I'm going to order one of those. That's all I got. Sweet dreams, all! I've been super tired all darn day.

Cat is still missing

I filled up the water and food for the girls knowing what they will be battling with tomorrow. Last I checked it is supposed to be 102 tomorrow.

I apologize for posting a picture of my kitty when there are 2 of you missing yours. I just finished reading the posts and did not realize it. I'm sorry. I had one go missing a few years ago and I know how hard it is.
