Hi all!
Happy Sunday everyone. Sorry for all you still not getting rain. I keep seeing all the horror stories on the news. Crops cooking, wells drying up, just can't believe it. I know we will be buying all our hay this week, hopefully enough to get us thru winter before the price goes thru the roof
. Going to grab up whole wheat and corn too and store it. Last year's crop prices still aren't that bad, but I know if I wait til fall I'd probably have to take out a mortgage to buy it!
The saga of the Broody Butt continues. Great all day, early evening, into the coop and right into the nest again
. Drug her off the nest this morning so she could eat, etc. before the yard fills up with all our family, and dogs (yes, that's plural) arrive. They are all good, silly pups but they are dogs so the girls will be in their run and able to go hide in the coop whenever needed
The kids have all been warned they will face the wrath of Grandma if anybody or anything harasses the chooks in this heat!
As for Broody Butt? She can just stay broody for now. It is just going to be too hot to stress her. If she's still broody when the weather breaks, maybe then.
Well, the gardens are watered, the house is clean, the coop cleaned, the chooks are good, the potato salad, baked beans, fruit salad are all done. NOW, I am going to enjoy a cup of coffee before the chaos ensues!
