Unfortunately I live in a very conservative town. You should see the ordinances on Pit Bulls! Absolutely nuts.... they have all of these ordinances and then the upshot is 'Who is going to enforce them?' Um... I thought that was what our Police were for...... at least that is why they are showing up right now....
My BIL's cousin lives in town and went down to city hall to see about getting a building permit for a deck (within the last 2 weeks). They told him no he did not so he proceeded to begin building his deck.... the police showed up a few days later and informed him he needed to get a permit for the deck.... so he did and then the building inspector showed up today and told him he HAD to have that deck finished in 7 days. WTH???? THIS is what I get to go up against and TRY to educate......
Like all other animals, the issues only arise with irresponsible owners. When an animal is cared for properly you do not have the odor issues or the vermin issues. Right now, improperly stored bird seed is a major rodent attractant.... along with improperly stored garbage.
I do not want my neighbors approval to have chickens or ducks either. It is my property so I should be able to have chickens if I so choose.
I better get to bed. Thanks everyone!
