Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Unfortunately I live in a very conservative town. You should see the ordinances on Pit Bulls! Absolutely nuts.... they have all of these ordinances and then the upshot is 'Who is going to enforce them?' Um... I thought that was what our Police were for...... at least that is why they are showing up right now....

My BIL's cousin lives in town and went down to city hall to see about getting a building permit for a deck (within the last 2 weeks). They told him no he did not so he proceeded to begin building his deck.... the police showed up a few days later and informed him he needed to get a permit for the deck.... so he did and then the building inspector showed up today and told him he HAD to have that deck finished in 7 days. WTH???? THIS is what I get to go up against and TRY to educate......

Like all other animals, the issues only arise with irresponsible owners. When an animal is cared for properly you do not have the odor issues or the vermin issues. Right now, improperly stored bird seed is a major rodent attractant.... along with improperly stored garbage.

I do not want my neighbors approval to have chickens or ducks either. It is my property so I should be able to have chickens if I so choose.

I better get to bed. Thanks everyone!

bl4- I am hesitant to bring it up to the city board because that would indicate that I am knowledgeably keeping chickens when I know I shouldn't be. My plan is to keep them until we find ourselves in your situation and then bring it up for a vote.

Good luck, Bl4!!!!!!

does anybody find it a bit ironic ? that there is an ordinance that you have to have a building permit to build a deck? guess how that ordinance came to be ; somebody went before the board and asked for it.. just like somebody going and asking for an ordinance to keep fowl.. eventually there will be an ordinance for everything you do.. do you see where this is going ?

.........jiw..........

Well, well, we have still have no water! Don't know yet if it's the pressure tank, the pump or the well! If it's either of the last 2... we're screwed! With all the additions on this house, the well and pump (as far as we can tell) are cemented into the washroom floor!

Carol... Sure hope you find Hay! I just saw an add on CL for someone else looking for hay.... I fear it's only the beginning!

CC... interesting idea about the trap.... just one thing....with about 70 free ranging fowl.... there aren't any left! Very, very few Box Elder bugs too! Or ants! I think the only bugs left are flies and if they could find all the maggots we wouldn't have them either! I swear I never saw so few bugs in a country house! LOL I saw a grass hopper just before the chickens were let out yesterday....I don't think it would have lasted an hour!

Unk... When you have good German potato salad.... what more do you need?

I should make some soon!

Ummm.... A few people missing again!

Well, I got to town but Young Son didn't get back from work 'till 4:45 so I did the bank (the check cleared) but too late for the mill. Had to go to TSC and got a bag of Purina Layer

3rd choice for feed. I'll go later in the week to the mill. We had Pizza for supper. Good thing DH can get 5 gal. buckets free... we're going to need lots of water! Right now can't do dishes, have to save the water for chickens and flushing!

Speaking of chickens... I noticed lots of watery poo. That's a good thing bad thing. With this heat they are drinking more water,,, but they are still stressed. Eggs last night were about 1/2 of what it should be.

Here's a couple interesting bugs we saw this last week.... don''t know how long they lasted!

Praying Mantis

OK, your probably sick of me by now... Night All!

Good Morning Everyone! Had to force that out. Cind hope you find that it's a simple fix with your well! Had that happen once and pulled the well. [I was young and stupider then] turned out to be just a diaphram in the pressure switch. The well was in the basement so it was a fun deal. Amy so sorry to hear about your losses!
