Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

BigZ, the Chronicle folded up shop when Journal Communications purchased Waupaca Publishing. The Waupaca County Post is now East and West. The last editor of the Chronicle was Ken Hardwicke, an awesome guy who made time to visit the coffee shops and would sit a chat with people about the happenings in town. I miss him, we actually had news coverage then..... Now we get 1 page in the Post. Of course whe have to have an entire section of the paper devoted to sports......

Looked into your Dr. Ostermeyer too, he just happened to live in the little sliver of land in town that is township....

so that does not help, but THANK YOU for trying!

At our house, teeth fetch $2.50. The first lost tooth gets a toy and the 2 dollars are gold dollar coins (of course they still get the 50 cents too). There is no way I am shelling out $5 a tooth. I used to get 25 cents, my poor DH was really scammed.... his tooth fairy only gave him a dime for a tooth!

Thanks for the input on the horse..... he is just so BEAUTIFUL!!! Must be the Arabian that makes them act ditzy..... too bad. I am always on the lookout for a horse with a smooth gait.... and of course flashy does not hurt either! Of course I have no place to PUT a horse!

Nope not from the Arabian................ They are not ditsy at all.... some can be high strung, but most problems happen because the horse is smarter than the trainer...It takes a natural touch to get an Arab to do what you want, some say stubborn.....not really, just supper Smart !!!
If you want a gaited horse your best bet with temperament is a walker, or a Kentucky mountain, they are awsum............ as per gait and temperament, ........... paso fino's are great horses as well, problem is unless your rich ya can't afford one...........

Just because you're talking horses... My dream is to own a Highland Pony. I know that doesn't sound very impressive, but they are very rare over here. Also they are not just a pony. They are stocky and stout, and overall excellent horses to keep. Google them...

BigFam my DD would like a Gypsy Cob.....

Your Highland Pony has a similar body style of the Fjord and Icelandic Horse.... stocky but still beautiful.

Ghost, looked up the Paso Fino. The ones for sale were not too horribly priced..... but not too many here in WI. You would have to be willing to drive to get one I think.

Hi All

Vicki... I think the books say to wait so long is because most people have a bigger flock and the hen usually have more chicks to watch. That makes more chaos and more chances for a chick to get lost or hurt. Love that thing about dogs.

MLH...Wow, you horse stories were so sad

My uncle had to have one put down that had chronic colic...turned out he had a twist in his intestines ... there's a name for it I can't remember.

jodie....Sorry about your doggie.

BL4... YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

CC... LMAO.... You Me and FT trying to hike the woods and fields...
roll.png
hummm... should we let her have her leg? She dose pretty good on that thing! Speaking of FT... anyone hear from her? Hope things are OK with her. What aspect of herbs are you interested in? Identifying? Uses? Formulas?

BBP... Too bad about the squirrel.
The guinea hen lost 3 of the babies already
barnie.gif
I found one dead... didn't look bit or mauled. It was lying by the berry patch. Have no clue what happen to the other 2. Only 5 left. I think if they don't see mom, their goners. I watched mom walk away from some babies and they didn't see her, she went over 10' and I finally chased the little buggers to her.

Well, I must sat I'm a bit scared.... DH isn't getting polyps removed today (Mon.) it's tomorrow. So he has today off and wants to build something!!!

He wants to make a raised bed for strawberries out of the pallets we have around. I sure hope young son has off to "help"
fl.gif
I drew out a plan for him.... help!

Well, time for bed... night!

The squirrel is still alive and making noises at me whenever I into the garage. I think he's going to be ok. I'll see if I can let him back out this evening. I really have a soft spot for squirrels and coons since we raised them when I was a kid.

Morning all!

A bit crispy up here this morning but it feels good. About the garlic, of course the German I grow is hardneck (just too far north for the softneck) and I have had absolutely no problem with it sprouting before February and even then not much. Might be the way I store it. You can also braid hardneck, I know because I do, it just takes a different technique and more muscle

.
Unkadan~sounds like you grow yours pretty much like I do. Us northern folk have to adapt a bit
wink.png
.

CL~let us know how the DH does. Deep breath, ok?

BF4~my extensive (unfortunately) experience with "misfires" is that they do not lead to eating the hard shells. I do have one hen, Crockpot of course
roll.png
, that will "test". She's never cracked a normal shell but she is always the first one with egg on her beak if there's a misfire!

Jodie~please let us know how it goes with the vet
