Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning everyone........
Boy Adam must have been more tired than I thought, I could barely understand his post, LOL too tired for spell checker hehehehe
Yes we came rolling in around 10pm, then unloaded and I had to take the brats Gf home yet to Bl.Creek, so I had Adam send out the post of our safe trip home. Shoulda just sent him to bed, cuz by the time I got everything unpacked, I was wide awake, and couldn't get to sleep anyway.
Getting as bad as Jim with the thinking about that dam, tractor....... I still think that extra wire is a left over from the conversion of the 6 to 12 volt system, and it will just be a no brainer to try it without it. It they left a cut wire and fuse maybe they left that as well.
Yes Jim I am spoiling the puppies because I feel bad for them, at your place they could run around some, as of yet here they can't the road is too close and there is too many distracting things around us to catch there attention and send them across the street........... NO NO NO because they still don't listen well enough to come back at a call, but they are getting better, so hopefully soon they can at least accompany me around for chores and yard & garden work. I will most likely never be able to leave them on there own completely, until I can get a containment wire and collars, I also haven't seen one big enough to enclose 3 acres?? Do They make such a thing? does anyone here have one? where did you get it? and how many arms and legs must I part with to get it?

Judge, we are fairly close, just North of Appleton, if you can't make it to the SouthernBash, I have some very pretty sweet roosters, they are posted here... http://appleton.craigslist.org/grd/3185727409.html, Fred is the nicest, but Benjamin the Br boy is also very sweet friendly little guy, none of them are mean at all, but not all are lap chickens, you can pick em up, but they ain't too crazy about being held for too long, lonh enough to trim nails or check over for bugs or and cuts and stuff.

Well anyway we had a great time again at Jim and Annies again, they are just the nicest people, and don't let Jim fool you ....l I ain't the best cook in the world and Annie is great competition, she made us some awesome meat loaf last night for supper, plus we had some more of Jim's wonderful corn on the cob. and last weekend we had some awesome chicken soup.............and I will share my recipe for biscuits and gravy if anyone wants it, though I don't really have a recipe for the sausage and gravy, I can tell ya how I make it, the biscuits do have an easy to follow recipe, though I changed it up a bit and used butter instead of shortening and 1/2 buttermilk instead of all milk, they did turn out quite well, and I think I'll do it that way from now on, I liked them better than the last time I made them.

So better go see what my boys are up too out there, I here them barking!! I think the farmer is cutting the field just up from me and they can hear them yacking loudly over the tractor noise....... Later everyone Have a great cloudy day and those who want rain hope you get it, those that don't I hope it goes where its wanted............have fun all. Kim

Mel,,,thank you for the schematic.. that is EXACTLY what I was looking for.. I am so internet illiterate.
Yeah CC, not only internet.. I know , I know..

I tried to forward the information to Kim, but to no avail.. I know Adam would like to look at it too..

Could I talk you into PM'ing GR65 and giving her the same info ?

Now I can hardly wait to get out to the tractor and try this out..

I might just have to put all new wires in,,,, just because.....

Good morning everyone! Love all pictures- so cute:)
We surprised the kids yesterday by getting them goats! 2 fainting boys, and one pygmy girl. All about 7 months old. We put them in with the chickens, and surprisingly they all seem to be getting along. I thought the chickens would be scared, but my mother-in-law put out some apple peels this morning and they were all eating together. The 2 boys aren't very nice to the little girl though. They even head butted her a few times when she was trying to eat the apples. My poor DD6 almost started crying thinking about her poor baby getting hurt. I told her I would take care of it, so hopefully I can figure something out:confused:
Well gotta get going and get ready for therapy. Have a good day all!!

Judge, a word of warning... Goats will eat your chiken feed by the truck load. They love the stuff, and will eat and eat and eat until the make themselves sick. they can get bloat and die. So while I think it's super easy to keep them together, I dont recommend it.

I have 2 Nigerian dwarf goats. They are super bad about sneaking into coops, or breaking into coops to get at the chicken feed. Mine have a seperate area to reduce the amount of exposure to their favorite treat ( honestly, chicken feed is crack to goats!!!)

Congrats on your new additions!

Morning all!
Just checking in while the laundry is tumbling....Next it's on to cleaning the bathroom and sweeping and vacuuming. Oh and dusting...good gravy I hate dusting..... If I was smart, I'd dust first-then vacuum and sweep. But I'm sure if I planned to dust first, I'd never get anything clean from procrastination...

The critters are all well. The meaties are growing by leaps and bounds. This is a hard batch to not like. I'm hoping they get mean soon. They are rather sweet little buggers and I've never has a more active bunch. They are determined to fly so they jump up and down and flap their little wings so hard. I feel so bad for them that their big ol' fat bodies just can't get airborn. They love to be scratched too.

DH actually helped me tear out the garden yesterday. The only thing I have left is on white cheery tomato plant. It still is going but we're supposed to get a chilly night in the nest day or so. Not sure if frost will be with that chilly night. I was going to let get some more fruit off of it to save the seeds for next year. This particular plant is a volunteer from last years plants. I also got some sweet potatoes, and DH picked all his pepper (LOL!!!) He want to can them today. OOOOOO!! And I got some peanuts!!!!!!!!! That was a ton of fun to dig up and I can't believe how many peanuts a plant can produce!!! So now I have to wash them and roast them. I think I'll save a few raw ones for next year and plant even more peanuts. I tool pics and I'll post them once I download the photos.

WCc-interesting truck. Congrats on your new ride!

Well, I'd best get going!

Anybody out there have an old incubator they want to get rid of or one they could lend/rent to me for a batch? I just recieved some fertilized eggs rather than the chicks I was expecting and only have a couple days to get them into an incubator. Would like to do it as a classroom project for my students.

Thanks,

-Three Acres Farm

Hi there- I did notice that, lol. I set the feed down toget the water and they loved it. Luckily we keep the chicken feed up high inside the coop so they can't reach it

I have a small incubator for your project eggs, but not sure how far ya are away it works great though and you can watch them hatch, its brinsea mini eco, 7 to 10 eggs depending on egg size, I have it for sale but no hits on it, so don't see why ya couldn't use it, now just getting it to ya in time to add the eggs b4 they are bad, I read they can go as long as two weeks and still be viable....... where exactly are you SE yah but where Milwaukee area? that really isn't that far we are about 100 miles North of Milwaukee.........
Anyway afternoon all, 1 batch of tomatoes in the canner, then after supper gonna try my hand at cream corn....never tried that 1 b4, so luck sent my way would be good............
Boys and me just came back from a long walk around the entire horse fence and yard, so they are now napping which kinda sounds pretty good except I have to watch the canner for the next hour and 25 minutes.........arggggghhh oh well things don't can themselves do they....hehehe

Thanks Dan I did do a search and found many, but most have a 90 feet to 3/4 acre area, I did find 1 that covers a bigger area WiFi which I ain't sure if that would work way the Heck out here, that covers a couple miles to 10 acres, its also a 1000 bucks................... :hit No way can I afford that...............argggggggggh guess I need to become a crook so I have lots of money.........NOT I'd rather be a broke old goat that a jail bird.........
Anyway Back to canning, later all

PS... Mel
yes please send the pm or a link to find the schematic, Adam will definitely want to see it........ or email it if ya have too, too
ghost 819 @ frontier net. net.......No spaces though encase I get spammed LOL like that ain't already happening, 100plus junk mails a day on that account........

I need help and any info/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
My red star Grace has what I think is a prolapsed vent. She has been looking a little rough for awhile, but acts completley normal. Today when I was out there she pooped and I saw this huge red tissue thing hanging out of her butt. It was the size of a plum, and did not go back in. What do I do with that, and will she get better?

Judge.. gently push it back in and hold it there for a little bit. Sorry I had bad luck with a prolapse chicken myself... it is a sad thing. Hope it fixes and maybe someone else has a good suggestion.

For me it is a good day so far! 4 of the 5 eggs have hatched under my broody. 3 d'uccles ( 2 black mottled and 1 golden shoulder if I am guessing) and 1 silkie- either white or splash. 1 egg left, but all were originally due Wednesday so will give it another couple days.
