Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good AM, took care of the birds already.. even washed the waterer..

Pancakes.. I won't go into detail,, but any of you women are invited to come spend the time with me like Kim did..

Chicken butchering.. the main thing is to keep the chickens at a very cool temperature.. just above freezing.. If you cannot control the temp,, then just get them into the freezer right away..

and as far as hanging beef.. the same is true.. in the butcher shops where they hang beef, they have infrared lights to combat bacteria..

There is no advantage in hanging venison..

.. If you do hang anything,, take the hide off first..
the meat will appear dry when you cut it up, but it will be OK when you cook it..

there is an old rule of thumb,, do not cook any meat on the day it was killed..
also, do not cook meat in the milk of it's mother..

Annie is bringing breakfast .. Hope she gets here soon..
FT, I do read your posts.. I read all the posts.. just don't always remember who said what..

$3.5o is not a bad price for hay this year.. I would lock in as much from that guy as I could, .

Ok, I'm bored. Bored, bored , bored, bored.

Prepping pumpkins for all the pies I have to make for this weekend. Like many of us up here, we do the whole big Thanksgiving meal thing on Sat or Sun because that's when the house is full of deer hunters (sons, grandsons, uncles, friends of sons, friends of grandsons, etc. etc. etc.). I do ours on Saturday that way everybody eats leftovers on sunday which keeps the cooking to a minimum

. Worst part is getting up @ 4am to start making a breakfast (and beat all the testosterone to the bathroom) opening morning and having to watch for odd bodies on the floor because there is always at least one or two that sneak in in the middle of the night and just fall over where ever they can find enough space.

I try to get as much cooking done as far in advance as possible since we have a very small place. I have developed cooking breakfast, lunch and Thanksgiving dinner all the same time in my little kitchen into an art form!!! Did I mention that I also have good friends that give me their best

or whatever else works to get me to make one of my scratch pies for their dinner too??? They even go so far as to bribe me with new pie plates!!!

The bored part is baking the pumpkins, after pumpkins after pumpkins. I know I could do them other ways but the roasting just gives them a better texture and flavor. The up side is the girls just LOVE the pumpkin innerds.

Please, someone write something funny or interesting or? so I can stay awake!!!
