To make organic ACV:

The best way to make it is to save all your apple peelings and cores. Toss them all in a glass quart jar, cover with water and a tablespoon of sugar. Set it on the counter for 5 days. I than smash the peelings and core threw a small sieve to get out as much pulp as I can. Put it back in the jar and put a lid on. Put it in the back of the closet for a month. You just made apple cider vinegar with the mother.

I found this recipe years ago but never tried it. It is for making ACV from apple juice. I think I'd much rather use the crappy apples from my trees in the fall, but that's just me.

This is a good link to info on ACV & how to make it:

Recipe for making ACV:
Fresh filtered apple cider or frozen juice - don't use the bottled juice from the grocery, it has an additive in it to keep it from turning to vinegar.

Raw organic ACV with the mother (unfiltered).

You need to use a glass container! Don't use aluminum or other metal products as it will leach out into the vinegar and ruin it.

Mix 1 qt juice with 1 qt vinegar. Set in a dark warmish place. Check it once a month for the strength you desire.

It is really a good idea to set a big jar of it (gallon) in spring and have it 'incubate' all summer. Then you have awesome vinegar in the fall and winter.

In cold weather it can take up to 6 months for the right mellowness to ripen.

It also pretty easy to make once you've got a mother started. The easiest way to do it is start with Braggs or Eden Organics (both have mother in them). I tend to use unpasteurized apple juice like Simply Apple. I mix a cup or so of the Braggs with the apple juice in a glass container like a Mason jar. I put a coffee filter over it with a rubber band and put in a dark place for a couple months. A cloudy, gelatinous mass will form on the top. That's the mother, that's what makes the acetic acid.

Geez you guys, I was just going to go outside and now I see the party had just started !!! Hurry up and post guys so I can get something done today....in the daylight !!

Ha...you are a detective for sure Frenchie! Got back form work and decided a cuppa was in order and a catch up on here too! So Commander id fine this morning. I left him in the barn and will let him out shortly. Kept one of the blankets on him and now that it's sunny I will take it off and let him in the pasture. Thanks for all your concern! I am pretty sore today; not just my leg from him falling on my but also my shoulder and arm muscles from pushing and pulling on him! Going to take some more IB! After a scary time we both seem to be fine. DH says I have to quit riding horses before I am killed....yeah, not gonna happen!

Tommy's kennel is stinking...I got some paper from my client today so that is what I need to do now. Then get my totally swamp mud covered frozen saddle into the house and start trying to clean it up. Then my pants and jacket...sheesh. I hope it doesnt stink too much in the house.

BTW--anybody have a good lamb recipe? Thanks--back later--TO
