Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi All, I made a trip to Menard's.. picked up a ceramic heater that Annie wanted.. IDK what for,, I don't ask, I just do....

I busted a bale of straw for the birds.. the geese immediately pulled some in for their nests.. the chickens came off the roost and began micro spreading it around..

It didn't seem as cold today as it did yesterday.. I washed the setting geese's water pan and filled it with fresh water.. they immediately came off their nests for a drink..

I watched some of "I hate my kitchen" today.. I have been wanting to re-do our kitchen for a few years.. I think I will start doing up some floor plans.. I have plenty of oak lumber to build the cabinets with.. I would like to do the cabinet doors in glass.. I also want an island .. originally I wanted an island, but Annie didn't.. the honeymoon is over, so now I don't care so much what she doesn't want..

I think I will hire my nephew to help clean out my wood shop..If I can only get all my tools sorted out and in their right places , would be a big plus..... last summer the big project was the tractor,, this summer I will be working in the shop a lot more..

I am going out very soon and lock up the birds..
the chickens are already in the coop..

Saw this on CL:

Chickens assorted - $50 (Theresa , wi)

I've got Rhode Island Red roosters 3 of them, 1 Dominique rooster, then I have 3 white leghorn hens, some brown hens, some black hens, a golden comet hen and a black and orange hen can't remember what it's called but it lays blue eggs. We are moving off the farm, the wife and kids won't let me butcher them. They were free range all summer long and whenever they feel like coming out now. I was getting about 10 eggs a day steady during the summer. Whoever takes them I want them all to be taken. They've been raised around kids and cats and are very friendly they will run right up to you, and the roosters all get along fine. Whatever food I have left you can also have. The sooner the better for me a call 262-339-6440 my names Steve.

Who was that that wanted to order chicks? I saw an ad on CL for a hatchery in Mt. Horeb. Not too impressed with all the typos on their site, but they might be a good hatchery. It says they have a 7 day chick guarantee, so it might be worth it to check it out?

Good afternoon. I VACUUMED! Yeah and then I mopped the floors too! It hardly seems like my house...SO that's my big news. WOW.

Tomorrow I work with that lady again where I stay the whole day. Her DH is in Florida so I guess I wont get paid tomorrow...too bad.

I am trying to think what to make for supper. I have the stock going on the stove from the roasted bird bones. I had to butcher a duck today...it was alive when I was watering and then when I went to top off the tank it was near it was dead! Weird. I did it the easy way and skinned it. I think I will put it in the crockpot tomorrow to cook for the day. I am soaking it in salted water right now.

Oh now a phone call...later folks! TerriO

Thanks for the post about the chicks...I think common sense is telling me to just get a couple from my friend to play with and just wait a few more weeks for nicer weather and then get a few more. Spread the fun of finding what I want out. We also have the opportunity to use a very nice incubator this spring and I might go that route since I'm home anyway. We always like watching them hatch.

Off to figure out dinner....:)

That hatchery will contact others who sell on craigs list. She contacted me a while ago and wanted to place my birds on her site. She advertises and acccept all and any bird on her property.

that website has "Buyer Beware" written all over it,,,,

well it doesn't but it should have!

I wonder if she added my birds anyway.
I have cornish crosses..she better not have..I had my cornish crosses for sale on craigs list.
What is the matter with cornish crosses? They are great eating birds, and lay well.
