Hmmm...we have a really nice Xerox printer/scanner thingy (for my grandpa's consulting business, the thing's like 4' tall and can do ANYTHING)...maybe I'll give that a shot. I've never scanned anything into a word document that I could edit, only into PDF and JPEG format. They're mostly cut outs from magazines, and he wants them all in Microsoft Works Word format (even though I explained to him that if I saved them as a .rtf, he could open them in ANY word processing system), all typed out exactly the same - same size font, same spacing....

For what he's paying me for it though, I'll sit and type them all out! The ducks have gotta eat!

Finally got the youngest batch of chicks out of the house and into the garage last night...now for those last 5 ducklings that are still in the house!

I love those cochins Annarie! They sure are cute. I am glad your house didnt float away H&R! I know how fast that current gets going around there. Keep that leg up! You dont want to have to go through it again...that is what happened to a friend of mine...she had her veins stripped and fixed and didnt listen to the REST order; and she is a nurse!

So last night when I closed up the chidkens one little one from Jim was out of the run--I put her back in but she didnt jump up onto the roost with the others..she is soaking wet today and not looking good! Of course it is the one that the dog pulled through the panel a few weeks ago...she has had a very hard life so far! I have her in on a heating pad and am dosing her with Tylan too...force fed a little bread and milk--we will see I guess! Makes me sad for her though...
The lettuce is calling for me to pick it and I need to get down to the garden too. I thought we were supposed to have more rain today (1.5" in the gauge this AM) but the sky is sunny! Never believe those weather guys I guess! The skeeters arent too bad outside so I guess I will get to it...maybe more rain will move in for the night again--who knows?
Have a great Saturday! Terri O

Hi from Plymouth, WI. This web site is so great. I rescued a polish chicken (Smokey) and fell in love with farm animals. One year later I have a barn, about 15 chickens (some of my own babies), two rescued donkeys, two rescued pigs and a rescued goat. My two Bassett Hounds, husband and son are being very patient and helpful as I realize my dream of being a farmer.

Good Morning everybody! A lot better than yesterday morning it seems that I over medicated myself at the retirement party. Actually I didn't but people kept buying me shots. Got a reminder of why I don't do them anymore. H&R hope your leg heals for you and listen to your Dr. After dad had heart surgery he was out on his garden tractor blowing snow and his solar plexus never healed right. He said he was gonna sue em. I told they ought to sue him for messin up their work. Course he was gonna sue the county because his driveway was clean and there was 2" of snow on the road too. TO hope your chick makes it! Annarie hopefully the rest of the kittens will be ok now with their getting meds. Know that that's pretty common. Raimnel understand about having to sell them everybody has to eat. Did you at least get back what you had into them? fm cracked open that Straw/rhubarb jam the other day OMG is it ever good! Definitely the best I ever ate! It's so sweet and tasty! Which reminds me to go pick berries. Need to pick a bucket O beans this morning too. Yesterday was work on the boat day got most eveything done. Need lower unit grease, a bow line, gas, and a set of oars. Last time I priced oars they were $75. Should hit some rumage sales. Just walked past the garden to let the kids out, maybe 2 buckets O beans. Think my maters are gonna rot before ripening. Need to mow again real soon. Enjoy the no rain day!

Nice morning again today, no worries DrH and Terry O- I am holding down the couch again today, I have to be up and walking for 10 minutes every hour- no standing or sitting at this point, I go back into the Dr tomorrow and will get further instructions from there. Have to move a bit slower for the next several weeks-my leg is wrapped so it doesn't bend much at the knee-I can help out with some of the easier chores(supervision is always needed)

everyone who is new, one chicken and your hooked!

Hey everyone!!!

I must say I am LOVING all my free time!!!! No schedules, appoitments, have to dos..... wonderful!!! I actually WEEDED!

That lightning strike not only fried a phone and the modem, it also killed the wireless router. So, off to Best Buy again to exchange the modem for an all in one wireless router/modem. After the initial messing around trying to get it going; voila! Success! We are back in business.....

As far as work is concerned; I am not going to say too much since all of this stuff can be accessed. I gave notice Tuesday and was told to leave the next time I came in to work. A lot of what was done felt very fishy...... and I am going to leave it at that.

Beautiful day! Going to Wild Rose Days to hang with some of my now former co-workers. Maybe the family will go fishing tonight too....

cw30 good thing you have an understanding fam because you've been bitten! HARD! atta girl! Good to have you on board! Share all your ?'s and answers think you'll enjoy the company. BL4 say no more, say no more wink wink nudge nudge. Think you might be shopping for your cheese elsewhere. H&R glad to hear you had some help , company, and are doing the right thing. Stitting for that long is hard for me unless I'm done for the day. But remember what it was like after various surgerys. Have 2 overflowing ice cream pails of beans in the freezer along with close to 2 dozen grn peppers sliced and diced, and 3 packages of jalapenos. Need to thread up some cayene's yet for drying. Getting some more dill tommorow for about 3 qts of pickles. Really really need to finish making wood so it's dry enough. Gonna be close, going to have to split it pretty thin. Think that will be tomorrows job.

DH and the kids are slowly working on the garden-trying to get it under control, DD and DS(8 yr) picked just about half a 5 gal bucket of beans and after their break will go see what the pickles are doing. DH is mowing the areas where things didn't come up and using the weed wacker to figure out where the squash plants are. The squash plants are spreading out all over. This summer it seems like we have had more things going on and all the rain didn't help either! At least we'll get some things out of it-good thing we canned and froze extra last year! Our neighbor also offered out of his garden too since he is busy too!

Yes, DrH it's nice to know that you can rely on some people to help you out, my sister is the second oldest in our family(I'm the youngest) out of 6 kids and she has always been there to help out. Of course we do the same for her when she needs it! 2 out of 3 of my brothers live out of state and the third one lives not to far way from us with his family(he's busy with working on their house).

Looks like we will be working on building a bigger coop for the chickens so that they can be under one roof-of course right now some of them are taking up space in our work garage where a trailer needs to be and as DH says winter is coming! Not sure yet what we will be doing with the small coop built last summer. Now just to find the time

H&R was just thinking the same thing about winter coming with the need to get the wood done. Glad to hear your getting help. Enjoy it while you can. Lived by myself for 2 imoblizing ops made sure the freezer and pantry were stocked and the house was well cleaned before hand. Made a big mistake a few minutes ago. Threaded up the cayenne's for drying and needed to get some of L's delishious home made pizza out of my tooth. Didn't wash my hands first. Lips and tongue of fire. Glad I didn't rub my eye or have to pee.

Well DH and the kids found the plants- in fact they picked 6 big zucchini's(club size), couple patty squash, some yellow crook neck squash and three 5 gal buckets of some new squash we found seeds for, it's called 1 and 8 ball suppose to be 3" x 3" in size but of course our are much bigger! Have to check the other buckets to see how many pickles and onions they picked....

DD is peeling a zucchini so we can cook it up for supper-should taste great! Probably have some leftovers to go with it, just finishing up the last of the turkey we proccessed.

Good thing for not having to pee or rub your eyes Dr H, that would have been bad!
