Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

DrH I never said I was MARRIED those 22 years... sheesh! It makes for a long time when you start dating in HS.

Apparently we pamper our dogs too much

, they are designed to eat the weak and diseased. My in-laws coonhound brings home deer carcasses all the time. Takes her quite a while to finish one off so you cannot say that all of the meat is pristine by the time she is finished with it. (These would be deer killed by cars that she finds.)

Time for more coffee.

I got a quick glimps of peeps peeking out from under mom this morning. I imagine they will be out and about by tomorrow and I will move her to the ground with her chicks.

Snow has already started..looks like it is going to be a week of snow. The DH is gone working this week so i should get tons done around here...unless I am glued to looking at the incubator.

As far as your chicken TO..they say they cut off the bad parts and still sell the other parts in grocery stores..go figure..pretty gross to think about.

thanks for the help. I do agree that this chicken had this DPM thing. So weird. But I understand now very common in large breasted birds. (BigFam...glad you arent a chicken hey?) SORRY--I couldnt resist!

OK taking off now to go to a agility trial...later all! TErriOrunningrunning

Good morning everyone! Hope all the new babies are doing great. Mine are starting to get their tail feathers in. Growing up.
Happy anniversary...and happy birthday...to those who celebrated them.
Have to drive to Mankato this morning. Don't feel like it..would rather wait until tomorrow...but I have to get a few things.
We're suppose to go to a Super Bowl party ...I'm sure it will be fun...just not feeling up to it. But the kids want to see their cousins...so well go.
Ok...I asked...but didn't see any answers. Do you all mix your birds? Do you have ducks with your chickens...or is everyone seperate? What about turkeys? I chickens have free range...but of course I lock them up at night. Well not lately...their in the spa room....as soon as we start hitting 30's again ill move them back to the coop. Hopefully in a couple of weeks. Alright....I better get moving if we're going to be gone all day. Have a good one everyone!

I have turkeys, geese, guineas. peacocks, chickens

I have two main coops,, the birds integrate, separate as they choose, as long as they get locked up each night..

I also use whatever type of bird that is broody to hatch whatever kind of egg I want hatched..

there is a difference between rotting meat and diseased meat.. why take a chance with the health of your pet dog over one dead chicken ? my dogs have a stash of a deer carcass somewhere near here,, but I still would not feed them something like that chicken of TerriO's..

Delisha,, guess why I raise my own chickens ... I don't believe all chicken farms do cut off the bad parts.. we have bought lots of chickens over the years.. whole ones.. I have never seen one mutilated.. maybe the chickens sold as pieces, might be cut up that way.. IDK..

all in all, I think the food source in this country is pretty well monitored..

I checked the long range weather channel this AM.. starting out in the single digits and gradually warming up throughout the week.. Friday should be pretty nice, comparatively.

I dreamed that I cleaned up my shop.. then I woke up.. I wish dreams came true..

I think the snow is well packed down.. so I can plow the next batch without going down to the ice pack..

I hope the 49er's lose.. only because they are the ones who finished off the Pack..
and besides, a football game is more fun to watch if you have a favorite to cheer for..

I have my ducks in with the chickens and bantams in with LF. The only problem I have is that sometimes cockerels decide to try to breed my call hens. Its not good when a 6-8 lb chicken jumps on a duck that weighs less than 2 lbs.

Terri... You're funny! It's Mel that has the big boobs! She loves to flaunt them... :-D

My two ducks are in with the large fowl. I do have the silkies seperated. I wish I didn't. It would be so much easier to have everyone in one coop.

What do you think: I have a broody marans now. She got confused and sat on a different batch of eggs (fresh ones I had to collect yet). So the 4 she had been on we're left in the cold for several hours. Are they junk now do you think?

I agree with Jim. Ravens because the Niners beat us. But I won't be watching the game. It's rather freeing to ot give a fig about the game. Also football games make me want to eat bad things and drink. I'm dieting and can't fall for that temptation.

Some of my chickens and my ducks are in the same coop. They are seperated inside, not outside, unless they are nesting. When the ducks nest they do so outside in brooding areas that are inclosed.

Ducks make the chickens water filthy dirty in about 5 minutes, so I keep them out of the chickens water as best as I can. I have not figured out how to keep the chickens out of the ducks filthy water.

Well I think

I have READ that eggs will slow their growth when cooled, but not die so fast as you might imagine. It's worth giving them a whirl anyway.

I agree about superblwl parties and temptation. That is why I am staying home with my chili cheese fritos and birthday cake.

and

My head says Niners by 8

Packers would have only lost to the best team in the play offs that way.I know I know It's a consolation prize at best.
