Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning All! Yup ice rink here too. Was going to go get eggs and after a couple of steps decided to wait until close up time. Looks like just enough snow to get some gription this morning. Ya Jim my head just swims with all the things a person could do with those racks. Hmm that didn't come out right, maybe it did. Bf4me just relax and be as nice as you can muster, you'll do fine. BBP hope your dog is ok! Angie sounds like you have a moma's girl

Yup just enough snow for good footage. Hope the wind dries things up a bit. Didn't start painting yesterday found other things to do so I guess today. Will try and get a pic of the new kids today too Cind! Won't be long and it'll be slop season.

CRS now.

Two hour delay for school this morning here. Slushy mess out there, and it is snowing.

BigFam, you would really be surprised if you knew where chickens are allowed and where they are not. I have noticed a trend; the larger the city the more likely chickens are allowed...... which really makes no sense since people usually associate keeping of chickens with the country. Maybe Tori has a mutant silkie.... I knew she had them though; apparently she has a silkie she puts diapers on and it is allowed all over the inside of the house.

BTW, you will be just fine! Stay off of FB and BYC while you are at work of course.....

and get your mitts on a notebook of some sort so you can write everything down.

Ghost, that frost on Saturday was beautiful. I wished I could have gone out with my camera to get a few shots but alas I had to be at work.

Better finish my coffee before it gets too cold.

Later all!

Nice pictures Kim! Good luck BF...I know a number of gals at Dean and they all enjoy it. And if you want to talk Chicken, I am right down the road to meet for lunch!

Well my yard is part skating rink..so icy... need to get some salt that is safe for puppy feet for the back yard.. those are the steps I slid down on Friday and bruised up my backside. Pain and embarasment made the weekend tough.
Hoping that my 2 banties start laying again, they shut down for the winter it appears, although my silkies kept right on laying. Sending the broody over to Carols to see what she can do there. She has no intention of breaking brood... I keep trying. will send some sussex eggs along to see if they are fertile or not.
Pretty sad that I put my aero garden together and cant seem to get it working. Will fiddle with it again this afternoon, but does not seem promising. THought It would be fun before the seedlings fully go in. Ordered some fun seeds this year so we will see how they work out. Not even going to try tomatoes from seed this year,,, last year I think one of the beautiful; orange hearts that Jim sent me and 2 romas looked good, and the rest were very thin and spindly. Not sure what I am doing wrong with them, but tomato plants are everywhere and cheap so might just pick some up.

otherwise dreaming of chicks! Going to try an easter or april fools hatch (really they are a day apart this year)see what we can hatch.

Good morning..this weather is typical Wisconsin. Snow, ice and sleet. The ducks are in the icy puddles taking a bath. They should start laying soon. I find it remarkable the chicks out in the barn are doing so well. She is such a good mom, but, man is she a holly he11 ion. She just can't resist attacking me when I feed, and after attacking me she comes over for a pet and cuddle when the chicks are hid from my view.

Cute little banty..

After all the chicks are out of the incubator i will post pictures. I still have a few pips left.

BF4..
You will do great with your job.

Hi all- slippery out there today. We had a dump truck load of salt/sand spread on the driveway which at least helps. Had to walk the kids out to the bus this morning so they would't fal on their butts. Ds9 was puking last night so he stayed home today. Hoping no one else comes down with it. Especially DS3- I know it'll just be a huge mess. He'll just puke where he stands.
No eggs for the last 2 days. Wondering what happened. We were getting 8.
Good luck with the job BigFam!
Sorry about the chicks Delisha
Beautiful pics GhostRider.
I took these pictures this morning of one the chicks. They are 11 days old today. I thought it was strange that it already has tail feathers that are this long (and getting longer every day) It's the only one that has it, and (s)he stand so straight. Do you think it's a rooster? Time will tell of course. DS9 name it Clicky-

Hellloooooo! I hope everyone has had a good winter so far. Sorry I'm over 5,800 posts behind so I wont be reading all those right now. Not much has happened here, just trying to stay warm. I've been thinking of ordering some chicks but not sure what kind yet. I will be setting the incubator next month with the poultry kids in my 4-H club. Not sure what eggs we're going to use yet. Oh we finally had out first predator victims. A bald eagle took out two of our female mallards. So now I'm hoping the 3 left will give us nice babies so I can keep a few more to replace the ones we lost. Well other than that, its been pretty quite. Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Hello Apyl..

So far so good..sorry about your loss

what are cotton patch geese? I always thought that they were just a bunch of mutt geese.. no show quality and a lot of cross breeds..

I THINK the puppy is using the dog house.. I have not seen him in it,, but I caught him coming from that general location a couple of times..

I locked everything up an hour ago.. it sure did turn cold..

I scraped the driveway and parking area today.. at least now when it freezes, it will not be all rutted and lumpy.. but will it ever be slippery..

Had a scare with the cat this afternoon so I took him in to the vet. Had bloodwork done and he was dehydrated so they gave him 1/4 of a L of fluids sub-cutaneously. Results of the immediate bloodwork are he has elevated liver enzymes. They are sending a second sample to an outside lab to run pancreatic function and more in-depth test of the liver...... possibly looking at triaditis. Right now all I want him to do is EAT. He is getting pampered though, I pulled the heating pad out for him and right now he is sleeping right on top of it.

That was my fun for the day.

Waiting to hear from Big Fam and her first day on the job..... working legally that is.
