How terrible about the accident. And on Valentine's Day too. So sad. I feel for their families.

Heya all--I know I haven't been around for awhile. Life has taken off--I'm in the middle of a move, and I'm in school full time, and working, and single mom-ing, and crittering...

And it came to my attention that I'm moving. I mean, I already knew that--but what slipped my mind is that I have too many birds to be legal.

So, I come to my friends at backyardchickens--can anyone find it in their coops to provide a home for two hens (one EE that should start laying for the first time soon, and a Speckled Sussex who will begin her second laying season shortly) and a white Muscovy drake? Not only will it be illegal for me to keep them but even if I felt like I wanted to be a member of the poultry underground it just isn't fair to keep so many birds in such a small space. They won't have even a quarter of the space to roam at our new abode, and won't be able to be out of the run again until spring. Here they have an acre to meander on at will and my coop and run are sized for constant containment of only five birds.

We're in Hubertus, moving to Milwaukee on Saturday. If anyone could help I would be so grateful!!

No, not a bantam--that picture was just taken late last summer when she was still pretty young. She's filled out since then. I've been too busy to be able to spend extra time putzing and picture-taking like I used to be able to. We'll definitely have to figure something out, that would be fantastic! Do you want Jack too? Or just the girls?

I don't currently have any ducks but have thought about several times my Neighbor raises Muskuvies, and I could get Jack a GF and see if he gets along with the multitudes of critters around here. is he used to being alone or with the chickens? if he's used to the chickens we can see what my girls thin of a duck.........LOL
