FYI TO I make me tired too! Sure hope your van starts and your client is OK! Another bad start to the morning saw wouldn't keep running or even rev up. Dads saw either I was not happy! Called the Stihl dealer in Rapids at 8 sharp, their opening time. He said I should have mentioned to check the feed line from the tank with the ethanol in the gas it tends to soften them after awhile. Kept him on the phone dumped the gas out and sure enough the line was collapsed. $9. Of course I had to drill out the tank hole to fit the replacement part. But she's back to her old self and after a 3 hour delay and many many squito bites I'm back to work. Amy I couldn't agree more on the vacation from retirement. Once the wood shed is full, the chicks are hatched out, and I'm caught up on the garden canning/freezing then I'm takin a whole afternoon off to go fishing in my new old boat. Noticed Busters waddle is 3 times the size of the rest of them. Got to grab him off the roost this morning and we had a talk he assured me that he was all male. So I had THE talk with him. He told me that he was really really looking forward to performing his mating duties. I tried to explain that there was a lot more to it than that but his eyes had a far away look in them already. whadaya gonna do? D*mn kids!

DrH maybe u should come talk to my chickens and tell them to roost on the roosts and NOT in the nest boxes. Every night I remove them from the nest boxes!
barnie.gif
knot heads! now I get to clean out the nest boxes AGAIN!!! AARRGGG!

forgot to say before that our duck coop is in the home streatch, or at least I can't remember saying it...... Maybe i'll have to go back and read!

TO) It was me that asked!

Well, let her do what she wants, and maybe she will come around! Thats what happened to me! I wanted to go to a 4 year art school, and all of a sudden I'm pursuing a Ph.D/M.D. in Pathology! Sheesh! Dunno how that happened haha.

Another uneventful day in the neighborhood. Turning 25 is coming up fast on me, at least my car insurance goes down!! August is full of plans, so i'm excitied about that. Going to state fair a few times, then the 13-15 i'm in door county with my best friend for a weekend. Then come back the 15th, leave the 16th and are going up to Upper Michigan to visit the in-laws. Don't know how long we are going to stay, depends on the little one. Then we get to go fishing!! Awesome! I'm way excitied for that. I worked it one year, caught a sturgeon!

I rub that in DH's face all the time, as hes never caught one haha!

May make cookies today, not sure. Got all my veggies to freeze. Oh! So, anyone NOT blanch their veggies before freezing them? I was really disappointed in the texture of the green beans that I blanched then froze. I think I am just going to freeze them. They were slimy! Yucky!

Dh is also telling me when we move, he wants us to have meat rabbits. I'm not thrilled about that.

I don't know, I don't think we NEED rabbit meat lol. However, I have to accomidate to his needs also, as I'm the one pretty much controlling what we grow. He usually has no intrest and trusts my judgement lol. I guess if we have enough land and can keep them in a covered tractor, then why not? Right? haha. Ugh what am I getting myself into.

Also, on the tomato front here is my verdict:

Black Krim is definatly coming back next year. Big tom, deep tom flavor, good meat amount on it.

Green Stripey although very fresh tasting (would be GREAT quartered and thrown in a salad), is a small tom (a bit bigger than golf ball) and not a good sauce tom. Once again, one to use in salads. Not good size to be a slicer, although can be done. Also seems to be a low producer. Won't be coming back next year.

Thanks for the advice on the roses. This is the first year I have ever had a rose bush and was mad when I saw all the holes in the leaves. Will try DE and a bucket of water first. TO were would I get insecticial soap?
Well today I am meeting a women and she is taking my white and black boys and two blk girls. She's into 4H so they will have a good home. Hopefully now the other 3 boys will get alone with less competition. My girlfriend is also coming this weekend to pick up the 5 pack of chicks that I hatched for her in April. She's alittle late on getting them but she finally got her coop done. The coop is going to be so empty now. Guess I will have to buy more to fill it up.

At least DH can wait to build me another coop until spring. He has a crazy work load and didn't know when he was going to get to it. I'd do it but, well you know how that goes. Ok got to go collect some chickens!

Raiquee I sure would like some of those Black Krim seeds! You have any info on the German Pink? I have seeds but did not get them planted this year. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. It seems like every time I try toms from seed they dampen off on me...I have much more luck just letting them plant themselves in the garden!
lau.gif
Sprinkling now but as soon as it;s done I am going out to plant the red Asiatic lilies I got from my client's garden. He said after he was gone I should take some and plant them to remember him by...I told some people on another board about your eggplant so maybe they will PM you for recipes. THey had a pic of the white one with purple stripes and thought it was a cuke!

My van is ALIVE! I had parked it on dry land and it was sitting in about 8" of water now. The river is still rising! We towed it off the island and put the cables on it and got it to start. It was not wanting to idle but after driving it all the way home it decided to be good. I stopped by the raspberries and they are done...

You shall have no pie! Oh well...I can always go down to my secret stash in the freezer! I think I have 2 C left from last year yet.

The sun is starting to peek out...time to pick and plant! Terri O

Guess I'm pretty much done outside for the day. Wanted to get that wood taken care of plus mow. The saw was great and just started to split and it started whats the word I'm looking for? Oh ya RAINING! Put an eye to the sky and thought it's letting up. NOT! But I finished and hauled and stacked it. Going to have to take advantage of the next time the yard dries off no matter the temp and mow it. Raimnel can't help ya with that have my own bad naughties that sleep on top instead of roosting but that was my own fault from when they were little. Just glad it's not inside like yours that would be an extra pain. I like Waddle Inn too! Raiquee have to agree with ya on the meat rabbits. I like to eat rabbit but can't say that I've ever tasted a domestic one. Do know that rabbits have the most god awful stinkin gut cavities of any animal I've ever gutted. Guess what I was right it's letting up, wish I'd been right sooner. Sounds like you have a busy month ahead and also sounds like it involves a lot of fun. That's a good thing! fm that does sound like quite the day glad you got reaquainted with an old friend! There's one I need to that with to. Very soon. Man I want to try those peppers!

Raiquee, how long do you blanch your beans? I do mine 3 minutes, then out right away and into ice water for another 3 minutes at least, then freeze. Never had an issue with sogginess. A good site for blanch times for almost every veggie is pickyourown.org You've got another taker on the Black Krims too
wink.png

DrH, talking of stinky guts you reminded me of my parasite class in college. We had to do a collection; I once picked up a dead possum and I thought I was gonna lose my sense of smell from the insides of that nasty animal. Ah, such memories
lol.png

Terri, I used to have probs with damping off too, until I became better about watering consistantly. Soggy seedlings are not happy. I've not tried the German Pink, but I have German Red Strawberry, if you want to try that one I can send some seeds. It's fruits are really ribby and pretty big. Congrats on the van too! Whew!
