Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Now Jim... I called TERRI old. I didn't get to you yet...

I am waiting with bated breath..

Ha--I am back already! And I had to take the kennel apart to fit it back into the car...I needed room for my new nest boxes! I wanted to buy both sets but we never would have gotten them in that little car! (note to self...NEVER buy a car that the back seat doesnt fold down) So I got a 4 (or maybe it's 5) holer nestbox set for 15 bucks! Ready to hang on the wall! IT is very simple but I dont think I could buy the wood for that price...and I KNOW it would be a big deal to put it together and I need it NOW! Really wish I coulda got the other one too...a guy asked me on the way out if I bought one or both cause he was thinking about it...bet he went in and got the other one!

There were some fainting goats and some PB pigs. Lots of different kinds of pigeons and many, many 4Hers running about with little boxes to buy their show birds for this year! Saw some nice Mille Fleurs for JJ. There was a nice pair of RI reds and a couple pairs of Marans that looked just OK. I did see some really nice barred Rocks too Jim! I would have bought him for ya ($20/pair) but the female looked sickly and he wouldnt split them. He was nicer that my boy for sure and really big. I saw many SLW both chicks and adults but no GL. Peacocks $80/pair and tons of rabbits! A guy had a whole box of brand new guinea babies--all colors--$4. If I had a brooder set up I might have snagged a couple of those. I couldnt find the guy selling the adult guineas to find out the price on them. So that was the swap...I was looking for some new cot quail or some bobs for a little new blood. Nobody selling!

Beaver Dam is on March 17th starting at 6AM going until 11. Fall Beaver Dam is Oct. 13th

Waukon, Iowa swaps: 4/21, 6/2 and 9/22. They start at 7. If anyone needs the contact numbers just PM me.

Gee, all this typing...I need some breakfast! Have a great day everyone! TerriOheadingforalittlebreakfastandalotofchores

All I can say is that I, for once, am glad that I am old so I dont feel obligated to go and help! However--seeing that BigFam is SOOOO youthful, I think she should get over here with her kids that have muscles and help ME clean out the winter slop! T

I'll come over there and drop off the 4 hoodlum guineas and drive away cackling...

And Jim, you're not old. May be just a little... Ummm.. Stale.

Very funny Mother Nature. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeesh! OH well, Hi everybody, happy weekend! TerriO, any chance you can post a pic of your new nestbox? I need to build a new one before I put my new chickies out in the coop. One hubby built me last year does the job and not bad for a first attempt but now we need to expand a little and just make a better design.

so happy to hear about the kitty!!!! tube feeding tho, yuck.

Shoveling done, for now, chickens complaining, all's normal in the northwoods.

I hope there are no hard feelings. I kept thinking of funny things to say but did not want to egg anybody on.
No, no hard feelings on this end. It's all good.

We're all adults here, some a little older than others, and thanks for pointing that out, Bigfam. You better watch who you're calling old. We just might beat you with our canes at the bash.

Hmmm, might give the term bash a whole new meaning.......

JJ, the tour is self guided & extremely short. Pretty much just looking at brew kettles and the automated lines of the beers being bottled.

Cind, congrats on the shovelling. Just be careful you don't overdo it or twist the wrong way. My birds are getting restless too. I think we all want spring to get here already.

Kristi, I hope your family is feeling better soon.

Terri, congrats on the great deal on the nest boxes! Too bad you didn't have room for both.

morning

slow start here today- kids actually did chores for me this am- that was nice, hope I am not coming down with what DS(7) might have- my head is kind of plugged up and crappy feeling.... he on the other hand seems to be feeling better

still coughing but up and moving around like normal! DH got in early this am from removing snow about 3 inches here, he took DD and DS(11) to archery practice for 4-H.

Welcome to all the new people who have recently joined us

Given the temps that we are suppose to get this coming week, we will be tapping our maple trees and start collecting sap for maple syrup- DH has to stop on his way home and pick up some new tubbing, looks like the ones we have been using need replacement.

Got our new thermostat for the wine-bator the one we were using went out durning the last incubating causing all the problems and failed hatch.

Here is a picture of our chicks that are 4 weeks old, we have 1 chick that is a quarter of the size of everyone else, have to increase the size of their area:

Here is a picture of our bunnies too! They don't stay still very long! They are about 2 weeks old now.

Sun is trying to come out now, have a great day!

Early afternoon and welcome newbies.

Its a busy day for us today. Soccer at 8am, then improv, library, a play (maybe) and then we're off to the gym.

Still only one hen laying :'(

Still waiting for the bank to make a decision on our offer.

The $1000 cat is doing well. He was a little peeved we attacked him at 5 AM to give him his feeding, but I am not going to have the oldest kids do that unsupervised quite yet. He gives you the evil eye now, which is really nice to see that he is feeling a bit feisty. He had a BM finally yesterday and the kids thought is was a stitch to see mom get so excited about that......

I had to explain that it was a good sign that his systems were getting back to normal.

All of you have a good time at the swaps today!!!!!!
Glad your kitty is home! Sounds like a big improvement.
