Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

The girls just left. I could not talk them in to staying later. They must have enjoyed the food, not a scrap left. Not much berry brandy slush left. We had such a nice visit. I hated it to end. Ann your birds are on the way. You have FF on some feathered feet..sorry. Poor baby's.

Midgets! We loves our midgets! They are awesome and sweet. Just the most curious little buggers around.

All my incubators are Brinsea. I don't add water until lockdown and have great hatches even with shipped eggs. I have two octo 20s, and octo 48 and an ova easy 380. Love them.

Thank you for the info...........WOW lots of bators Do you fill them all or just use what ever one ya have eggs for? thats alot of chicks hehe Jim kind of hatches hehehe......... I can't even imagine them all. and if you have turkeys to sell let me know I'm looking for a Tom and 3 hens? Later Kim

Good afternoon! Got the library books returned and picked up feed before I went home. Vicky was so kind to give me 2 meat birds to replace the ones that had the weird meat....I was NOT planning on bringing any birds home! I have installed them in my basement

until I can get the weaned from the heat or spring actually arives...I have a feeling that they might be down there for a while!
mine would find much joy rolling in the smelly rotten chicken smell.
Oh yes JJ--I have 5 that LOVE to do just that! The stinkier the better. This is the reason I have not tied chickens to their necks...that, and the fact that they are house dogs!

nice spring day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,somewhere

Jim, you have a nice hill in your driveway,,,,,put the pup and the dead bird in a barrel, fasten the lid,,,roll the barrel down that hill,,,,,repeat for a few rolls. Better do it now while he still fits in a barrel!

the bigger the hill the better, if you had someone to tag along to help,, as I recall there are some dandy hills in your area,,,,just need someone else to help at the bottom,,,,,this DOES work. Learned the trick from one of the best dog men this state has ever seen...used to break gun dogs from running deer this way using the head, legs, and hide in the barrel with the dog,,,

sounds crazy and definitely not PC these days but it works

speaking of dogs, Jake was out with me while I did chores. He came to the door when I called him doing his terrier jumping high to get in trick,,,ripped a pad. I left him in then went to the tractor and swept it off, came back in and there were bloody footprints all over the carpet and the couch,,,DD is cleaning the mess, we got the foot washed, dried, and applied styptic, Now to keep him calm (yeah right) hopefully it heals fast.....ugggg

Maybe you could put Jake into a barrel with the carpeting and the couch? Might teach him to stay off? Sounds like you need the dog boots I just gave to st vinnies?
OOOOHHHHHH CC.... Someone is getting Chocolate Orpington eggs.

If I get an extra roo, you can buy one at a discount. Then I get Hershey eggs with chocolate daddy input in trade...
HMMMM--seems to me that if she is buying him at a discount then you might be able to buy Hershey eggs at a discount?

Gee Vicky, I think you shoulda talked a little harder! If only we could have had Cheryl drink a little of that brandy slush....it might have worked! LOL! SHe is just WAY too responsible! Great visit BTW! DS loves the smell of the gravy you sent and wants me to make that dish ASAP! (Oh man, it wad delish...HMM--is that where you got your name?)

Nice seeing Joe again too--I canat wait until the campout and we can terrorize all the kids with our knives! LOL--you shoulda seen her BIgz!

SO yes, I had quite the afternoon...now I must get to making dinner. I think tonight will be red flannel hash from the St Patty's Day Left overs. I will serve it skillet style with some over easy eggs on top. MMMMM!

Talk to you all later! MXM messaged me on the way home and we are meeting for coffee tomorrow. It will be nice to catch up with her...I will encourage her (once again) to check in with you all!

Have a great evening! TerriOneedingtounloadfeedonceagain

Hi - I asked some questions about a week ago about getting new chicks. And I decided I am going to pick up 2 chicks to add to my huge existing flock of 2.

I'm wondering if anyone here would have a couple to sell me for pick up Easter weekend? My dd is off the next week and I figure she can enjoy them and keep a watchful eye.

I'd like some teeny ones - she has her heart set on that. I'm near Milwaukee but I'm willing to drive for them - Madison or Janesville area.

thanks.

I need some input from the experts. Have always done meat birds. A lot of my neighbors to get eggs from.

I have been "lucky" that I have not had predator losses. I do have some tree & bush cover for winged predators,
4 legged predators if we were both gone........could be a total loss.

Wondering if there would be any benefit ( alarm & education wise ) to have a few older hens with the broiler chicks.
Not really concerned if they are egg producers. I'm sure they would also provide some entertainment for the family.
Thoughts on how they would get along ( chicks & hens )

Thanks

I would help. But I'm outside of the area you want to drive to. I have 57 eggs scheduled to hatch the day before Easter. (Which can mean 2 days before Easter all the way through 2 days after Easter). I'm in Sauk City. Google from you to me and see if you want to make the drive.
