Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

looking at the link for swaps and auctions and realizing if I want to go to a swap close to home, I will have to host one in my front yard. Is 15 acres enough room for a decent bird swap? I get to keep everything that gets loose right? I could declare the woods "out of bounds"

My insurance guy is probably wondering why his ears are ringing right now.

LOL! There have got to be some close to you! But if you want to host one I am sure you have enough room....maybe you could hire Vicky to do the lunch? (I'll come!)

It was "Sarku" that she made for us...a very complicated dish that took her 3 days to prepare! It's like chicken pieces with gravy and peas over rice. But it has an Asian taste to it and is soooo good!

Just finished supper. Made the hash...burned it a bit :( and topped it with eggs that also got a bit overdone. I would have liked them to be runny but DS just said he liked them with the harder yolks. I guess I am still learning about cast iron cookery!

Gotta head out and lock up. I went out earlier cause DH said the birds were alarming. Must have been "chicken ghosts" cause I didnt see anything. They quieted down after I shined the flashlight over them...weirdos!
Nighties....I get to go to bed early tonight! Yeah! TerriO

The girls just left. I could not talk them in to staying later. They must have enjoyed the food, not a scrap left. Not much berry brandy slush left. We had such a nice visit. I hated it to end. Ann your birds are on the way. You have FF on some feathered feet..sorry. Poor baby's.:he

Babies look great, my son is thrilled now that he has his head out of his video game. He only gets 20 minutes a day, so he took advantage of the drive to hens house. He thinks he might have another Rosie the Red.

Thank you for the info...........WOW lots of bators Do you fill them all or just use what ever one ya have eggs for? thats alot of chicks hehe Jim kind of hatches hehehe......... I can't even imagine them all. and if you have turkeys to sell let me know I'm looking for a Tom and 3 hens? Later Kim

I don't have adults available, but I'm hatching a lot of poults. I may have some adults in the fall or early next spring. Just depends on how they all do.

And yes I've been running all the incubators. The largest isn't FULL yet, but I'm working on it. I have two open trays currently. Guess I need to swap for some more eggs. The turkey poults go pretty quick and we have plenty of room for chicks. They keep me going on these lousy cold days.

good morning,

Pang, brought me about 4 1/2 doz more eggs to hatch for her.. She was really interested in the bators.." How much they cost ??" I was concerned whether she had a rooster... "Oh yes, I have ummm eight ." that is about 1 rooster for every 2 hens.. and those large eggs she brought last time WERE duck eggs.. I thought so.. I set them with the goose eggs in #1..

Midget turkeys ?? wrong... right: vertically challenged turkeys..

it took only a couple of minutes to pull Ollie out.. I didn't think the snow was that deep back there.

I cannot convince Annie to not spin the wheels at full throttle in 4WD .. she pulled me so fast with Ollie in reverse that the motor was racing..

Have to go to my heart Dr today so he can holler at me for being fat.. and he gets paid for that ?

I have to do some serious dog training,, Puppy killed another chicken,, I hope he likes his new necklace..

what do you get when you cross a duck with a rooster? wow what a thread. I have so much to learn!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another Chilly Evening Here....great pictures Cind....handgun enthusiats just gotta love the J frame S&W....

Went to FF for a new sump pump. We use it for the wash machine and waterer softner. I'm hoping the pvc line isn't froze that is under 3 feet of snow. It's always something for homeowners, eh! I wish the washer was on the main floor. Maybe in the next house I build LOL!

I think I'd lose on purpose if I got to go to DQ, H&R.....just kidding of course.

Bear roast with taters and carrots for supper...I'll prolly make some more venzun jerkey for the Bash.

Talked to the neighbor today...they caught 3 bobcats in their traps by accident....they took pictures to verify them and documented the locations....more ammunition for the consevation congress in the Spring to try and convince them to move the open zone south. Kinda like pulling teeth.

The point 2012 Blackale tastes good on a chilly evening with a warm fire.

Flocksalot....what does the rh in the 20's run without water the first 18? Any problems with shrinkwrapping?

Be Safe...bigz

good evening, Annie is gone to work, so I have the whole house to myself . I am all TV'd out already..

Zeke, my chicken culler is a male Maremme

this is Dora,, she is about 27 inches tall and just under 80 pounds in this picture.. this was teken a year ago..

. the male is just 7 months old and is about 75 pounds..
I don't have a recent picture of him.. I will try to get one of them together..

I don't think the chickens and ducks are mixing their genes.. Pang said that she has two duck hens and one drake.. there are 6 eggs in the batch she brought this time.. and 43 chicken eggs.

I have all the eggs in racks,, I just have to label each one yet, before I put them into the bator..
I put the date on them for when they are due to stop turning..

My Dr check up went good.. I must have a year to live, because that is when my next appt is..
I officially lost 6 pounds.. Dr was OK with that..

Rh is between 25 and 35 generally. If it went below that I would add water and for some breeds I do add water. SFHs need a bit higher humidity during incubation, so I filled one side about a third of the way. FBCM like it dry, so not a drop until lockdown.

No real problems with shrink wrapping unless the bator gets opened after a pip. Hubby doesn't understand that he should keep his paws off my stuff. He thinks he should remove chicks as they hatch. Then I find shrinked and compacted chicks. Then his fingers get smacked and we are fine for a month or so til he tries it again. Usually on some expensive or longed for breed.

Just finished some eggs for work tomorrow (potluck, for grins).

Here are my finished Easter deviled chickie eggs. Think they turned out pretty cute. A little wonky with Thomas's insistence at helping, but darn cute.
