Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

This certainly has been an interesting spring for egg production. I hope it isn't something in the feed. First, lots of fart eggs, then the other extreme; jumbo!

Didn't someone else have one not long ago? Was it Judge?

I can't believe I didn't hear her from inside the house. Poor girl!
Yep it was me. I can'[t believe something so big can even come out. Poor babies

Good evening! I "only" had to read 6 pages...I'll try!
WOW on that egg! I agree on the "ouch" too! After those first few really large ones I had in February all seems to have settled down nicely.

I got a call from my CL ad about goose eggs...She and her family have an Irish tradition of eating them soft-boiled around Easter time. She is coming out for some on Saturday. Said she lost her supplier when she got rid of her geese cause of the high feed prices? Man, mine are the cheapest to feed! (unless you count the fines from them eating the grass on the other side of the highway!) I am thinking of ordering some of the electric netting from Premier. I think it might help IF they dont fly over it!

Zeke--you dont have to be afraid of Jim...you are much larger and younger than he is!

Now I am younger, but not larger...but I bet I am faster! (so I'm not afraid of him either!)
Jim--I thought you said Annie was going to help you with those joists? Cant you get some guys to come out from the coffee shop to help? Sheesh--tell them you will make some coffee and pancakes!

I know there was something else...oh yeah, Amy, dont lose heart! If both those thermos read high dial it down a little...who knows? Maybe you cooked them to an earlier hatch date?

The babies in the shed are still fine. Then hen didnt get them down yet and I didnt give them any water up there today...we will see if she gets them down by tomorrow. If not I will take them down and lick them all in a pen for safekeeping until it gets warmer outside.

Today I drew up the plans for moving the birds into their breeding groups! (yeah, finally right?) All worked out well and i have enough pens for what I want to do. NOw all I need is for the ice to melt so I can close the respective gates! Hopefully they will all be moved by the weekend. Well, except for the Tommy Trio...not warm enough for that yet!

OK--time for bed...sweet dreams all...maybe I can get on tomorrow morning then I wont have to read 6 pages!

Elaine... Love the Pic!

Dan... hope you get rid of those coons!

Amy... I had several hours of 115* last year and still got over 50% hatch. I think that hens that hatch in summer or in the south might have eggs get that high (105) so I wouldn't worry too much.

Jim... cute..."this won't take long,, did it ?"

BigZ.... That hen sounds like the start of adult wry neck. I had one last year that was doing that, then the balance went. I got her over it with a special diet. Se is now called "Tumbles" but is laying well.

CC.... if you find out who laid that egg... give her a big hug and extra treats!

Humm... No DrH for a couple of days... maybe the living room got the best of him?

Didn't move turkeys this weekend... life and mud got in the way.

The hen is no longer broody since that d@mn skunk took all the eggs! I think I need to do some trapping too!

Night All!
