, hang in there it will take them awhile to work they way out!!

I have BBS bantam orpingtons hatching today! Unfortunately, one is dragging around a big, thick, bloody umbilical cord. I'm not too sure that that one is going to make it. I think 12 eggs made it to lockdown out of 15. 3 are out of the shell, 2 are almost fully zipped and the rest I'm not sure about. I hope they all hatch and I can get them out of there. I need to clean that incubator out and get the eggs due to hatch on Monday in there.

I have 4 out and 4 pips..It is going to be a long weekend. The pips are not due until Saturday. Makes me a bit nervous. Hopefully I wake up to a bator full of pips tomorrow. Than wake up to a bator full of chicks Saturday.

I spend part of the day with chickenscratch..we made cookies and ate potato soup and fresh baked bread. Dark Chocolate Cake covered in Ganache for desert.

She really helped me today..she can spend all her boring days here....

Sunny afternoon here today, snow is melting more- soon we will have to pick up all the presents the dogs left in the yard

making cookies here, had a request from the kids for them.

had an exciting start to the day this morning- DH went out to our work garage and the bunnies were out of their pen- the door didn't get latched all the way last night durning chores- they left nice presents all over, wasn't too hard to round them up.

tree sap has been flowing well the last couple of days- had to start boiling down the sap today- collected 25 gals so far

have to go and check the kettle levels again!

TO- nothing happened with the brown/white quail eggs- we pulled them and candled them and they were all clear

. We checked one of the white quail eggs and it looked to be developing

I have only a few quail developing..the rest are clear and I had a few blow ups...lol

Yeah!!! They are on the way....
tap on the glass and make peeping noise..they are internally pipping. You will hear them.

For those curious: I have 51 in lockdown. I did throw in a couple I'm pretty sure were quitters. But wait... Guess what genius thing I did? I unplugged the egg turner from my borrowed bator. Got the hatcher warming up. Went down in the afternoon, oh about 6 hrs after I unplugged the egg turner. I lift the lid to take out eggs and they're cold. What the fudge?! Oh wait, not the egg turner I unplugged! There was only 25 eggs in there with no heat. (25!!) So I'm going for the theory of "they didn't die, just went into hibernation mode." Only time will tell. I love being an idiot....

Great time at Delisha's house today. Lots of fuzzy butts there

and good food. BTW, DH was thankful for the cookies.
I'm going back tomorrow and hopefully we are able to work on clearing out one of her sheds that she wants to transition into a breeding pen.

The chicks are growing so quickly. I only hope the babies get feathers quickly, so when CC's lav orps are ready to come home with me, that my babies are ready to go out to the coop. I'll probably have to heat it at night for them however (and maybe during the day). They have already decreased to 80 degrees. They stay near to the warmest spot but even at 80 they aren't directly under the heat. So for now the temp is right. Our first babies were off heat at 3-4 wks of age, so we'll see how these guys do.

With the rain coming this weekend, I hope I can remember to open up the cold frame to let the water in for the spinach, garlic, etc. Remind me BYC cheeseheads otherwise I'll forget...you know babies and working at Delisha's will completely distract me.

Ok, gonna have some cookies, milk and watch the tube!

JJ, love the sign.... Trying to be patient. Just the one seems to be peeping and pipping and funny enough it is a shipped egg. A gal I know in CA sent me 7 black coper marans for shipping cost. So for the $10, I said what the heck. Four made it to lockdown, but not sure on one or two. Those dark eggs are tough to tell. So we figured they were a crap shoot as shipped eggs. No other sign yet from the other eggs. But humidity and heat seem to be good. Can't Katie to hear about those other hatches. I think most of us had some due this weekend.

Looks like it is coon season outside, the old gimpy coon we have had around for years appeared tonight. Packer pup can't seem to stop growling, even though it left an hour ago when I yelled out the door. We have seen him off and on since we moved in. He eats the bird food on the ground outside our back door feeder. Guess we need to put our traps out again
