WOW lost 6 of my adult birds today. Not sure what happened no real signs of struggle. I free range but I ve never lost that many. [[[[ that stinks]]]..Won t be free ranging for a couple of days What a day. lost my big lorp roo. 5 hens... BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!.....................What cha gonna do!!!! zekedowninthedumps.................

sorry about your losses. were they gone or found dead?

Oh no. That's just terrible.

You said no real signs of struggle, so no or not much blood or feathers? Could have been chased off or maybe something big snatched them, possibly? Maybe a coyote pack? Not sure what else could have taken so many and left little evidence. Just guessing here, but dogs usually maul, a hawk I wouldn't think would take so many, I have no clue on foxes. Maybe something chased them and a few are in hiding? What kind of terrain do you have around your yard?

I can hatch you out some orps if you want.

Welcome to the forum amy11...good advice given and good job keeping the injured one seperate.

Ten weeks is pretty small yet Judge. Do you have a fence between them now so they get aqainted by seeing each other. If you do put them together, I'd keep an eye on them. If it was me, I'd wait till they are closer to the same size.

I thought you knew where I live frenchie...I just live up the road going toward Marion. He was suppose to bring some br's up by Jim to, but not sure if he ever showed up....was he a no-show Jim? Or did you change your mind and order instead?

That sucks zeke...you will prolly have to check around for feathers. If nobody was home maybe someone needed some free birds...been known to happen. That's alot to lose in one day, during the day I think. Dogs could do that, but then there would be evidence of that. Good Luck finding the culprit!

The wood pile sure is taking a pounding. I'll need to really do alot of cutting and splitting before next Winter.

My youngest DS is studying egg development in school. Somebody brought in an incubator and they are going to be hatching eggs. He is so cute about it! Rattles off all the specifics to me.

Oldest DD is loving her new job, so much so she leaves 1/2 an hour early to drive 8 miles.

I am enjoying my work schedule this week, it is nice to come home and spend so much time with my kids! I get to see the sun! ( I would if it ever came out that is....). I was able to visit my sister this afternoon...... that almost never happens during the week...... everything will be back to normal next week though..... I think I will be happy to have my 3 days off.

Not much else here, yes I will bring any extra seedlings I have to the bash. I have quite a few tomatoes going right now.....

Hope you are staying dry, In Central Wisconsin No rain yet. Just checked the chicks for pasty butt. My Kids think I am weird.

No pasty butt so far, The girls are eating not chirping much. which I think is good.

DH has been spending the night at the hospital..my turn is tomorrow night. FIL does not communicate well and most do not understand him, so someone needs to spend the night. DH is stressed out.

I plan on getting there early. I can put names on the 3 spots closest to the building that have electric for you, Cind & Frenchie. 

Hey CC I'm thinking I might try to go do you need to reserve spots in advance? In kind out of the loop with the camping thing... I do have a tent DH bought last year! We put it in the back yard and he and DS 6 slept in it once! Haha

ok...so Deli...what is the roo..lol... rock? Black with little gold leakage on chest..seen here with the BCM roo..not best pic, he is the one on right. Black clean legs. three weeks and these two have red combs...other combs, not as red..waiting... they are so funny. just tried feeding dried mealies for first time. Had dozens in my hand...they kept pecking my hand and not worms. Silly birds.
