I forgot to tell you guys about my children's hatch project at school. I put in 7 heritage a Rhode Island Reds. I had 1 quitter and 6 hatched!!! Wow, I'm as good as CC with the brines a mini in charge. I am going to save my Ronnie's for a genesis. I'm a failure with my current incubators. Whatever. I'm watching a bunch of eggs sit right now, probably not going to hatch. Oh well, not the end of the world. At least the kids learn that not all eggs will hatch. They are also learning that nature isn't as easy to replicate as one would think.
I had a dead chick this morning too. It was a brand new baby, so who knows what happened. A coronation Sussex or a faverolle. They look the same right now.
I better go check on the incubator and do lunch.
I can't even see mine and I know to check the toes.... sheesh!Oooooo, I totally forgot about the toes! I'll have to go check!
This might work, shake up their pecking order a bit.Hi all
I been off the board a while , raising 3 chickens still . They seem to be going pretty good , though I never seen a creature poop so much when they're suppose to be sleeping. I ran in to an issue. I have 2 barred rocks and an austrolorp. The austrolorp seem to be the leader up until 2 weeks ago. The 2 barred rocks have taken to pecking the head of the austrolorp. I seperated the 2 from the austrolorp for the night, but soon as I re-introduced them , right to picking on her head, She has lost quite a few feathers. I know their re-establishing a pecking order. I thought of spliting the 2 barred rocks and introducing them to the austrolorp one at a time. Not sure, I may just eat the Austrolorpif this doesn't straighten out.![]()
Thanks
