Good evening--funny stuff again today for sure. Happy Day to you Cuties! This weekend our fair is going on here so probably not a good weekend for a visit. I would like to have a campfire and relax a while...how about the following weekend? I will PM.
I had a little quail get its head caught beween two bars in the cage...no idea how it did it. I had to cut it with a side cutter. It was wounded on the back of the neck from trying to get out...doctored it and gave it sugar syrup for energy but it was dead (in with the chicks) this morning...along with the little duck I found that was kinda cold and dehydrated. I hate when the little ones die. Speaking of...tossed the rest of the power outage eggs in the bator. The entire group of over 55 eggs died! I am hatching one more batch of quail this year and then I think that will be it. DONE! (that feels good to get something done!)
I have to be at work tomorrow by 8:30. At least it is only Jefferson. I think I will head out after this message and at least do the water...then I dont have to do it in the morning. In this heat we have been filling horse tanks 2xday anyhow. The chickens seem to have big enough water vessels to get away with once. Let the call ducks and remaining babies out to a bigger pen yesterday. Today I put the two that I found wandering in with that family. The male was like, "yeah, those are my kids from another marriage." He was fine with them. They are slightly larger than the ones from the black female so that was fine and the female was doing some weird head butt thing with them...it was odd. They would put their foreheads together and kind of bounce their heads up and down. Interesting to watch. After that they were all fine together. I am still wondering where the rest went to...I know I havent seen the wild colored ones from last year for a long time. Maybe the others are still nesting somewhere? I am hoping anyhow...all the weeds are so tall now that they could be anywhere. I got tired of trying to round them up every night...they dont herd well at all!
Went to look at some hay tonight after I picked up DS from work. He wants $3.25/bale. I know they pay him to cut this grass cause it is the land that my church bought to locate our future building! I know it costs $ and time to harvest hay but it just hurts to pay that kind of money for GRASS! I am only going to take 60 bales though and use it in addition to the rich stuff I got when all of you ANGELS came and helped! That hay was too much for my walker and we think that is why he was lame for a few days. Perhaps he foundered on that foot. It is odd that it was only one but...
Hey Frenchie...I dont know what kid of hay you feed but he may be interested in delivering to you. I could check with him when I get mine. He loads all his hay into a semi and has the truck to drive it somewhere. He also helps unload! I got a semi last year and it really worked out nice. He has a lot of different hay as the season goes on too.
Guess I will head out. This room air conditioner makes the room pretty nice...at least the living/dining rooms and the kitchen! I hung one of my winter thermal curtains between the kitchen and the back room and it has helped greatly! (I am sure it will be nice when the electric bill shows up too!)
OK--gotta move now...ya know, I dread putting coveralls on in the winter and heading out too. But at least in the winter you go out and work and you are comfortable once you start working. In summer I wear the least amount of clothing allowed by law and I still cant get comfortable! It only seems to be getting worse as I get older too!
Now I feel like CC banging my head on the wall!
THey even said on the radio today that there is such a thing as "heat rage." I think I suffer from it!
Late folks! TerriOwhodrawsthelineatsittingnakedinfrontofthefan'
and we thank you for that ..
