Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I sent a message asking if any of their ducks were pictured because the first one was of my son holding a ducking of mine from last year. I told them they shouldn't be using that picture for their advertisement.
They wrote back and said they took it off. I don't mind people using my pictures for reference, but what if their ducks were of less quality? I'd hate to be a buyer thinking I'm going there for a show quality ducking and find that's not what it was at all. If the ad stated that it wasn't an actual picture of their duck I would have been fine with it.

I just came in from skeeter land.. Inailed in a wind brace, which didn't do much good, I need to add some more..

then I planted the last 3 cucumber plants.. the d@m small tiller wouldn't start,, prolly got too wet from the storm last night..

Our road washed out near the bridge this morning.. they added a few large culverts a few years ago, but too much water for them to handle.. they should just build a dike on the east side of the river,, but then the water would prolly run over the bridge.. at least it wouldn't wash away like the blacktop road does..

have a guy interested in a small flock of guineas.. He stopped in to look today, going to talk it over with his son..

CC.... All that beating you head on that wall could cause permanent damage you know.. Guess we'll have to watch you closely for awhile.

Mel, thank you for the link for the jars. You are lucky you don't burn so easy. I had 2nd degree sunburn 3xs when I was a kid. Ya think my parents woulda got me some sunscreen after the 1st or 2nd time?

Painful arse stuff. Had to try to sleep sitting up. NOT fun!

Jim, you funny.

And I completely agree with your ramp solution for Bigfam. Hmmm, she must have been right about the flying pigs. That's the THIRD time this year I've agreed with you!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Del, those are beautiful birds.

I wasn't really expecting any rain today, but naturally we had to get one heck of a downpour around 5 with the coop door still open. You guessed it, it goes right in........... At least the wind wasn't bad, so it could have been alot worse. And the chickies love to scratch the wood chips away from there, so that is a bonus. No wet chips. I also left Pink out with the general population for the whole day today. Pretty much everyone left her alone. But naturally the one chicken I don't want to notice her, did.

Why is it the absolute LARGEST rooster always take a fancy to the smallest freakin hen???? And to top the day off, one of my ef#@&%%@! broodies decided to quit being broody. First I had 3, then 2, now one!
barnie.gif
So I said screw it & popped them into the incubator. The remaining broody has 2 eggs. I don't trust her with any more.

So where are Bigz and DrH?????? And Ghost? We seriously need to go for a ride sometime soon.

Good evening--funny stuff again today for sure. Happy Day to you Cuties! This weekend our fair is going on here so probably not a good weekend for a visit. I would like to have a campfire and relax a while...how about the following weekend? I will PM.

I had a little quail get its head caught beween two bars in the cage...no idea how it did it. I had to cut it with a side cutter. It was wounded on the back of the neck from trying to get out...doctored it and gave it sugar syrup for energy but it was dead (in with the chicks) this morning...along with the little duck I found that was kinda cold and dehydrated. I hate when the little ones die. Speaking of...tossed the rest of the power outage eggs in the bator. The entire group of over 55 eggs died! I am hatching one more batch of quail this year and then I think that will be it. DONE! (that feels good to get something done!)

I have to be at work tomorrow by 8:30. At least it is only Jefferson. I think I will head out after this message and at least do the water...then I dont have to do it in the morning. In this heat we have been filling horse tanks 2xday anyhow. The chickens seem to have big enough water vessels to get away with once. Let the call ducks and remaining babies out to a bigger pen yesterday. Today I put the two that I found wandering in with that family. The male was like, "yeah, those are my kids from another marriage." He was fine with them. They are slightly larger than the ones from the black female so that was fine and the female was doing some weird head butt thing with them...it was odd. They would put their foreheads together and kind of bounce their heads up and down. Interesting to watch. After that they were all fine together. I am still wondering where the rest went to...I know I havent seen the wild colored ones from last year for a long time. Maybe the others are still nesting somewhere? I am hoping anyhow...all the weeds are so tall now that they could be anywhere. I got tired of trying to round them up every night...they dont herd well at all!

Went to look at some hay tonight after I picked up DS from work. He wants $3.25/bale. I know they pay him to cut this grass cause it is the land that my church bought to locate our future building! I know it costs $ and time to harvest hay but it just hurts to pay that kind of money for GRASS! I am only going to take 60 bales though and use it in addition to the rich stuff I got when all of you ANGELS came and helped! That hay was too much for my walker and we think that is why he was lame for a few days. Perhaps he foundered on that foot. It is odd that it was only one but...
Hey Frenchie...I dont know what kid of hay you feed but he may be interested in delivering to you. I could check with him when I get mine. He loads all his hay into a semi and has the truck to drive it somewhere. He also helps unload! I got a semi last year and it really worked out nice. He has a lot of different hay as the season goes on too.

Guess I will head out. This room air conditioner makes the room pretty nice...at least the living/dining rooms and the kitchen! I hung one of my winter thermal curtains between the kitchen and the back room and it has helped greatly! (I am sure it will be nice when the electric bill shows up too!)

OK--gotta move now...ya know, I dread putting coveralls on in the winter and heading out too. But at least in the winter you go out and work and you are comfortable once you start working. In summer I wear the least amount of clothing allowed by law and I still cant get comfortable! It only seems to be getting worse as I get older too!

THey even said on the radio today that there is such a thing as "heat rage." I think I suffer from it!

Yeah...it's still hot out there. So OK--I forgot to say a couple things.
I like the look of those birds Deli!
Jim--in a week or so I will have some of those wire holders for signs. We use them for our fair signs--if you want some let me know.
Hear is a pic of my FFS. (that is Fish Fry Sunday) My son brought home a load of Crappies; the girls and DH were eating HM tomato sauce and noodles when I came in from cleaning pens last night. I said FINE! I made the fish and their mouths were watering! I did give them a taste! IT is Fish with spinach and grits--it was fantastic!
!
Yes, there is now a toilet in the kitchen...

and a big hole in the bathroom! DH didnt let me take a pic of his sweat...he knew I would post it here! I think he is suffering from heat rage AND project rage!

OK--now I really am heading out...of course unless someone posted something that I just HAVE to answer! LOL! TerriO
