Ok, come clean, who is the Chicken Fairy????? (No, no, not Jim in his tutu.) A big box was delivered today with a springform pan inside exactly like the one I lost at camp! I'm guessing Frenchie because she asked about the brand Ekcoloy, but it was mailed from Mt Pleasant. It's even in a little better shape than the old one. So thank you!!! I should make a cheesecake to celebrate!

Sorry to hear about sick or injured birds. Is taffy doing better? Such a pretty ducky.

ok need experts on on jam/jelly making. First I dont the real difference between the two. I have8 lbs strawberries and Balls low sugar pectin... do you have a best receipe or method? help... I tried grape jelly last year and failed... need a good receipe for that one two, but have another month or two before that fruit is ready. Only thing we have a bumper crop of this year will be pears, everything else is modest in quantity.

this is a picture of what is left of my stump.. I was going to show a before and after , but it isn't too clear.. the charred piece is a cedar 2 x 6 for comparison..

anyhoo, I took pictures of the peacocks to send to the mysterious lady.. and I just happened to walk past the stump project, so I took the picture..

jam is made from using the whole fruit, like strawberry.. jelly is made from just the juice like grape..

IDK why they call it apple butter, though..

follow the directions on the pectin package religiously ..Item for item, and measurement for measurement.. you will not fail.. and the grape that didn't make it last year can be reprossesed if you still have it..

thanks jim...the label says unsweet fruit juice, fruit juice concentrate or water..any suggestions? Then honey vs sugar...just looking for good taste. it also says optional butter??? I would not think that would be in...

My son loves his jelly.
thanks

Freezer Jam

Mix crushed strawberries with sugar, and let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, stir the pectin into the water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, and boil for 1 minute. Stir the boiling water into the strawberries. Allow to stand for 3 minutes before pouring into jars or other storage containers. Cover after cooled and leave on the counter for 24 hours. Store in the freezer.

2 cups crushed berries
4 cups sugar

1 pack pectin
3/4 cup water

The butter is added to keep the foaming down.... if you have to go through all the effort to cook the fruit, why would you freeze it?

I knew you would love my early AM post BF.

Ok back to work. I do not answer chicken questions because I do not have chickens. If I could help I would!

I know what the problem is,,   she has a cat ...

Agreed! I have 2 litter boxes in 2 different parts on the house. One with a top, one without. I'm just done trying to bend over backwards and spend major money on an animal that will pee on my personal belongings when it gets upset. I moved their food dish outside now. They will not be fed in the house anymore. This forces the fat cat to be outside for at least part of the day. She hasn't peed on clothes or towels for a few says. That could be good or very bad. I guess I'll have to wait and see if other parts of the house start smelling.
I had an accident with one of my little wood ducks, and had to put it down. Its leg was broke. :( Very sad. I also shut off the last incubator today! Its always nice to pack those away and be done till next spring. Even though someone owes me LF chocolate orpington eggs. I'm thinking they're not coming.
