Morning everyone
Ok, so nobody is giving responses for poultry questions anymore ( asked more than one). Must be getting tired of being bugged by us non GURUS. Totally understand. No kitty or construction problems right now, completely boring life (I have a great hubby lets me escape any time I just need some me time without getting offended) And drug/doctor stuff all good so I'm off to the appropriate forums.

And VickiW-I think part of the lack of responses is-the sheer number or postings makes it hard to keep up! I know I finally gave up and have skipped at least 10 pages as I was trying to work my way forward and was getting further and further behind! I would try to remember posts I wanted to comment on, and would forget or end up not posting at all!

Advice needed: "Latte" the chick that had such horrible cocci: When I gave her the 2nd dosages of Corid, her legs started giving out and going out to the sides/unable to walk again. A day or so after the last dose, she was back to standing tall.....anyone else have that happen? She is still SO skinny but she is now walking around and coming out of her cage on her own. She LOVES to snuggle and be held. But I am worried how skinny she is-but was warned to not try and push extra protein etc right off as it could be too hard on her system? Giving her FF a lil each day along with dry pellets.

2nd question: She has had this weird sneeze/ almost a cough thing since I started the Corid 2.5 wks ago,which seems to be getting better but worried she may have a secondary issue? And yesterday when she walked out of the cage, and put her head down to peck at something, she had water come out of her mouth. I am thinking she just took a drink but she didnt look like she threw up it jsut sorta slid out. Again any thoughts on this?

Sngie bubs, was she (poo) tested for coci? Are you sure this is what she had?

Is it possible there is something else, and the corrid is able to help but not cure?

Fluid and coughing makes me think more respiratory. ..
Not much experience her tho. Just guesses.

Cuties: Thanks for the response-Yes I took a fecal sample to the vet and she confirmed she had rampent Cocci. I also am wondering about giving her an antibiotic for respitory illness but am also worried if her little body can handle more right now? And it hasnt seemed to get worse? Which antibiotic is the easiest on the system to treat for respitory if I end up having to go that route? Do you usually go back for a 2nd fecal test to make sure its gone?

Also, eventually I need to get them out of this small cage and incorporate into my coop. Just dont want to until I know they are 100% safe. How long after you have done the 2 doses of Corid before they are no longer carriers? And I definately will wait till I know what this sneeze/cough thing is and that it is gone.

Sorry, I didn't much time to read the whole 809 posts because: 1. that's way too much reading and 2. My favorite chicken has sprained/broken his leg. I had this happen last year with a chicken. Oh my gosh, It was the same one. It is the same thing except he isn't 2 months old now. I don't know why but I forgot how I healed him. Anything would be great, what should I give him, separate or not, or anything else that would help, I don't want to loose Sasquatch (that's his name)

I would sprinkle powdered dry milk on her feed.
You can also add some chopped up chicken liver
I would take another fecal in to make sure she is clear
Try using unpasturised ACV in her water to help clear any mucus she might have.
Listen to her breathing or see if she is laboring her breathing.
I have only had one chicken with breathing issues. I took her to the vet(My GLO). I can send a copy of the report and his recomended dosages is on the report. Typed by the vet.

I am sorry your bird is injured.
For stress you can add electrolytes to his water
wrap his leg to give support

I have only one cure for injuries..and it is not what you are looking for.
I am sure many will have better suggestions for you

Is it actually his leg ?? or could it be higher up,, like a dislocated hip ? I have had chickens with the hip problems.. If they can walk with a limp, I just let them be and they usually work through it in a week or so..

Roosters seem to get the hip problem more so than the hens.. I think it is because of the side pressure when they are mounting the hens.. just a hunch.. nothing scientific about it..

Thanks Delish!!! I have been adding vitamins to water..can you mix ACV with vitamins or should I just use ACV? I will try the powdered milk and liver. Thanks!

Angie buns, I ould retest... ive never done this with chickens. But in dogs, it is common to retest.

I do not know the answer to reintegration after corrid. My assumption is if test results come back normal, you are in the clear.
Provided the caugh thing is all good.

I wonder how else to prevent coci overload. From the bit of readong I have done, it is present always... is this right?

I am worried about hubbys roo. Our coop is always dry and clean. I am super anal about things. I would not go in barefoot. But it is clean lol. We have sand under their roost. We scoop with a cat litter scooper. The babies are brooded in pens on the groind in there. They are on pine chips. I clear them out oftn. Chicks are brought to out door pens in the am, and brought back inside in thepm. We move the pens around the yard so they always have fresh grass.
I want to be sure I did not miss anything. They are fed with hung gravity feeders.their water iselevated. They do drink a lot out of the fish ponds tho. They have acv, and chicks have electrolytes. I feed adults allflock. Once a week they get yogurt or cottage cheese mixed with garlic and kyanne (sp) pepper. And they get all kinds of treats.
We did have a minor fly problem, but hubby biuld a gate thing so we can keep the two doors open durring the day. Airflow has helped with the flies. I have been reading on many threads of people having coci problems.

Is this just normal?
