Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Interesting update on some babies. The Deli babies with my Marans, one is all black with brownish hints, the other is the black with some white. The one that is all black has a tail growing in nicely, but that other one hasn't got a single tail feather! I'm making an early hypothesis of cockerel on that one based on this. I could be full of BS, but I am anyway, so no harm.

As to the babies I got out of CC eggs, looking at wing feathers it does look like I have barring on the 2 black ones. That would mean Dominique babies. Yeah for Stella and Moose! I have the Hershey baby (who I think will be named Herhey's Kiss) who is got dun brown feathers coming with little black speckles on them. It will be fun to see what 1/4 choc Orp, 1/4 black Orp, and 1/2 Lav Orp turns out looking like! Then the mystery discovery....
I have 2 lavender Orp babies. Pure lavender Orp babies. Chunky Monkey is looking quite nice in its wing feathers, lavender with a few very pale ones thrown in. Then there's the petite one. It's lavender, but its wing feathers have darker lavender BARRING!! What the what?! I had my oldest look too. We compared both Lav chicks. Nope, I wasn't seeing things. What is my pure Lav Orp doing with dark Lav barring? Oh this will be fun to watch for (provided I don't kill it somehow....)
The black with brown hints...are you sure it is brown and not gold?
The black with white ..the white usually molts out pretty early..the all black sounds like a pullet

You are full of BS. Was there ever any doubt, class?

Do not judge tail feathers or lack thereof as a roo trait. I can go out tomorrow & take pics of my chicks. One of my lavs is definitely a boy & the other is a girl and they both have huge long tails. The Hershey & 2 black roos all have hardly any tail feathers yet.

As for the barring, oops?

So CC was letting the LAVs get slutty??? You have 3 Lav Roos for Pete sakes! Now you'll just pass them around to any roo beyond them?!
Tawdry... just tawdry with a dollop of scandalous.

Sure is quiet around here! DH is in Florida for a funeral for his family member. G Paw, myself and 2 of the kids are here trying to get boxes unpacked, rooms organized, and laundry washed. Tomorrow is gonna be pretty busy with soccer and girl scout activities. DH comes home late tomorrow night ~ midnight, then off to work Sunday so I'll probably see him Sunday early afternoon at the earliest. Ugh!

I took G Paw to Menards today to look at a gun safe, then to the local Mexican grocery store (where we bought a bunch of meat).

Does anyone on here know current regulations for dryer vent hoses? I have heard that the flexible aluminum hosing (the soft one not the hard aluminum) has been determined to be unsafe, but they are still selling it everywhere. Does anyone have any updates?

Went to the farmers' market (which is more like a carnival) and met a lady that is known as the "JamLady". Has anyone heard of her? She is supposed to be well known.

Ok..off to bed, very tired.

Julie just posted this on FB:

UPDATE!! Surgery is scheduled for the 1st of August. My surgeon did not read my pathology results before my last appointment and was only looking at the MRI. She since read them and told us yesterday that the cancer appears agressive, which we already knew, but not invasive. Not invasive is excellent!! So, game plan, lumpectomy. The tumor will be sent out for testing to make sure it is not an invasive cancer, it it comes back non-invasive, I get plenty of radiation (fun) and that's that. It it comes back invasive, I go back in for sentinel node dissection or single mast with radiation and possibly Chemo. We are banking on a lumpectomy now! Yahoo! Great news. Thank the Lord!

Will keep you in prayers!! Non-invasive!!! Hang in there, gal!!

Good morning cheeseheads. Woke up super early.. four people in a queen size bed isn't comfortable. Wish my kids could sleep without needing to touch me!

Fed and watered all the birds, dogs and cats. Checked dogs for fleas, nothing on them. They are staying in the garage until we get the house infestation under control. Drowned at least ten fleas so far this morning that I caught on my socks :/ these are resistant lil buggers. 6 foggers, 2 different sprays, carpet powder, d.e., borax, dog powder, frontline, capstar. Eucalyptus and peppermint oils. Spraying the yard/deck today.

Something has to work at some point, right????

Time to vacuum.. again.. and then again..
