Hi again,, Ft, hurts, donut ??

I was working alone one day and I shot a spike through my finger and it came straight out the top right smack dab in the middle of my finger nail.. I jerked back and the blood flew everywhere,,
I decided right then and there that it was time to take a break.. I jumped into my truck and drove about a mile down the road to a cafe.. the finger nail was laid open like a four petaled flower. I took a nail clipper and trimmed it as close as I could to the smooth part of the nail,, leaving a 1/8 inch hole .. then I went in and ordered my cuppa.. IN the meantime, Annie stopped out at the building site and I was not there.. she saw all the blood scattered on the concrete floor and for some reason, she assumed I had really gotten hurt.. she saw my truck at the cafe and came in to see what was up .. she was relieved that was all it was,, It was my middle finger and I am happy to report that I had a complete recovery and the finger works just fine..
 
Interesting update on some babies. The Deli babies with my Marans, one is all black with brownish hints, the other is the black with some white. The one that is all black has a tail growing in nicely, but that other one hasn't got a single tail feather! I'm making an early hypothesis of cockerel on that one based on this. I could be full of BS, but I am anyway, so no harm.

As to the babies I got out of CC eggs, looking at wing feathers it does look like I have barring on the 2 black ones. That would mean Dominique babies. Yeah for Stella and Moose! I have the Hershey baby (who I think will be named Herhey's Kiss) who is got dun brown feathers coming with little black speckles on them. It will be fun to see what 1/4 choc Orp, 1/4 black Orp, and 1/2 Lav Orp turns out looking like! Then the mystery discovery....
I have 2 lavender Orp babies. Pure lavender Orp babies. Chunky Monkey is looking quite nice in its wing feathers, lavender with a few very pale ones thrown in. Then there's the petite one. It's lavender, but its wing feathers have darker lavender BARRING!! What the what?! I had my oldest look too. We compared both Lav chicks. Nope, I wasn't seeing things. What is my pure Lav Orp doing with dark Lav barring? Oh this will be fun to watch for (provided I don't kill it somehow....)

Doesn't hurt me a bit !!!! LOL
Surprisingly it doesn't hurt.... when it happens !!!! Years ago I was trying to get two frozen hamburger patties apart using a sharp kitchen knife.Yep you guessed it... it slipped and went right into the palm of my hand and came out the other side. Missed the bones and major artery or veins... Same with ET, they took an xray and it didn't hit the bone. He thought it did because it was a 2 1/2" nail.
Never a dull moment around here. Cuties.... Thanks for your worries !!! LOL I worry too !!! LOL I'm afraid we've reached that point in our lives that we are doing the "stupid" things that you always yelled at your parents for doing !!!

The common sense is there but things tend to happen when you are in the CRS mode or drawing a blank in your thinking process !!! lol
He was fine today, washed some more of the house before he stains in a few days when the rain stops.
RAIN what a welcome change !!!
But I wanted to go to either Kentuck days in Crandon or the County Fair in Antigo or the Street Dance in Rhinelander which benefits the Humane Society. With it this chilly, don't feel like doing any of it. Not complaining though !!! Maybe I should take back the swimming pool that is still in the back of the truck and then we'd get the 90 degree weather again.

Talked to someone about the boat, Old neighbors good friend. He said to check the kill switch on the boats motor. Haven't been back to the lake to do it though. In the mean time maybe we'll dig out our fishing poles, now that I bought our license. Suppose to be in the forties or low fifties tonight... burr. If I don't close the window I'll be up peeing all night !!! Guess I had oak trees on my mind, we don't have any around here. They logged them all off years ago. Jim I'm jealous that your feed bill is going to plummet !!! LOL I wish I had it in me to sell or cull my birds. I'm seriously thinking of doing just ducks, geese and guineas.... but then I see the chickens and I can't do it. I keep saying I will not get more chickens then a broody hen hatched about 12 mix chicks. I give up. I'll never have any money !
