Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I was up at 2 and woke again about a half hour ago in complete misery! I was told not to take anymore ibuphrophen yesterday when I called the doctors office but I broke down and took some a bit ago. I can't take this pain and swelling. Without the ibu my whole throat swells shut and it feels like strep throat times 100! I've finally got it someone to stop burning but have been up bawling most of the night. When it swells, not even the morphine takes away the pain. If anyone asks me about this surgery I will tell them to try anything to not have it done. I'm not even a week in and they said it will be at least another week before it starts tapering down. Also the swelling in my feet hasn't gotten any better and I've been elevating them as much as possible. I really don't think it's protein deficiency that is causing this, it just doesn't seem to make any sense.

French-hope your doctor stuff went ok, been thinking about you and anyone else having medical problems. I know how mentally draining it can be.

Well son 14 got his essay all typed and ready to mail today for the Pullet Suprise Youth Contest. They didn't get ahold of me until late yesterday afternoon. I sure hope others find it as humorous as the people that we've told. This is his story, let me know what you all think.

“Jose/Maria” by Tyler Jay Hill
July 2011 my mom bought a Bantam breeding pair. Maria, a black Cochin Hen and Pedro, a black Silkie Cochin cross rooster. On Earth day every year Bruce School has a petting zoo, this is where I go to school. I am in the FFA so the school asks us to bring in animals for the little kids to see. I asked mom if I could bring Jose and Maria for the petting zoo because no one else was bringing chicken. She said that I could but I had to be careful to not lose them. Pedro was very funny looking because his comb was really big and nearly covered his eyes; he also had a fuzzy head. Maria looked like a regular black Cochin Bantam hen and was very soft. Everyone loved them because they were friendly and Maria could always be held and petted. After the petting zoo was over my mom came and picked us up. When we got home to let them out of their cage, Maria started acting weird dancing around. Within a few days Maria started crowing like a rooster and would do a rooster dance for my mom and my sister. Everyone thought it was funny and we renamed her Jose.
We took Jose to the petting zoo at the Mt. Scenario College last year during “Leaf It To Rusk”. He really seemed to like being held and given a lot of attention. It didn’t take long for everyone to notice him there as the friendly rooster. Mom would tell everyone the story of how he became Jose but not many people believed her. We had about 20 kids huddled around him waiting for their turn to hold the friendly rooster. None of the kids parents could understand why they chose to hold him over the bunnies and other animals there.
Mom decided this spring to buy Jose some hens but he didn’t even like them. He would still only dance for mom and my sister and he would bring them food. He rides on moms shoulder when she cleans the chicken coop and sometimes when we are just outside. This spring my mom bought 12 Buff Orpingtons and  sister bought 14 barnyard chicks that were in the old pen. My sister brought Jose in with the chicks to see what he would do. He automatically started talking to the chicks and called them over to eat. We left him in with the chicks for the day and  went out to check on him with a flashlight that night. You could see little heads peeking out from under his wings so we decided he could stay and raise the babies. He is on his third batch of chicks this year. Mom says “He’ll stay around even if he doesn’t breed because a rooster like him is worth a million bucks”. Everyone that comes over or hears his story wants him to come raise their baby chicks.

Loved it!!! Very well written. :thumbsup

I feel for your son, Cind! I've been having problems myself for like 3 years now. I've went through all the scans, scopes, etc. and they still won't remove my gallbladder.

HAPPY HOT DAY EVERYONE. :frow

FRENCHIE???? Calling Frenchie! We're all getting worried here!

All's quiet here on the critter front. Puppy is on my lap helping me eat a hard-boiled egg. She's off the pain meds, still on the antibiotics but definitely going in the right direction. She took all the poking and prodding by the vet yesterday like a little trooper.

The VetRx seems to be doing it's job keeping things under control until the oil of oregano c an get here. It shipped out yesterday priority mail. Hope the post office does better with this than they do with the packages I send to my daughter. No "noises" from Noodle and nuggets squeaky voice is getting better. No one else showing new signs but all the "biggies" got treated yesterday anyway and I floated some in the chicks water. ( those familiar with VetRx know what I mean).

TERRI - had the pullets ever been outside before? Once they got the nerve to go out into their pen when I opened the pophole, they went nuts! Never seen dirt thrown so high by something so small! :lau

Time to go check on the girls now.

Hey everybody..... I'm back !!!

What a long day yesterday. We passed up the exit to the Marshfield Clinic (ET did) and had to turn around. Got there 15 minutes late only to find out I had gone to the wrong place !!! I was at the Wausau clinic and was suppose to go to the hospital (St Claires) in Weston...which was where we were headed in the first place. They said not to worry because my procedure wasn't scheduled until 11:30 anyway. But I needed to get my blood drawn because I FORGOT to go get it done on the 15th !!! GEEZ !!
So anyway, they had delays and I didn't get in until probably 2:30 or later.

Anyway, there's good news and bad news. The good news is that I only have a couple spots with about 20% blockage (up from 15% three years ago) They don't start worrying until it get up to 75-80% (like my mom had)
I know he made some comment about my heart, ET said he said my heart was strong but I specifically remember him saying it was stiff or something like that too.

Anyway, he said my lung pressures are elevated.... I asked the nurse if that was Pulmonary Hypertension and she said yes. That is the bad news.http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pulmonary-hypertension/DS00430 So he increased my Lasix (water pill). I have to see his Nurse Practitioner in two weeks for a follow up (can't get in to see him until October )

We didn't get home until almost Midnight last night. If you saw me online last night I was trying to read and catch up on my cel phone on the way home.... not an easy task (it's not a smart phone) and under the influence of VerSed !!! (God I love that drug !!) LOL

I told ET, I'm just going to snooze out in the van for a little while. He let the little dogs out. They hopped in the van and we all slept (not ET) in the Van last night !!! Way to drowsy to go in the house !!! LOl Kinda nice sleeping out there. Might have to do it again sometime !!

Anyway, so I looked up the PH on the above site. Some scary $hit !!! I called their office to get the new RX and the nurse called me back. I asked her if in fact elevated pressure in the lungs (according to the discharge papers) is Pulmonary Hypertension, she said yes but that he hasn't labeled it as that quit yet. He wants to get the fluid off my lungs I guess first. So now I wait until September 4th to talk to the NP more about it.
The website does say it can be genetic. My Mom had PH diagnosed after she had her 4xbypass. She also developed a hole between the two chambers in her heart.
So we'll see what they say next in the mean time I go for another pulmonary function breathing test and Chest CT on Friday back in Wausau again.

Hate to say it but I think a stent would have been easier and better news. At least it would have been easier to understand and deal with.
Of course when I called my older sister today she said I might have to lighten the load...... I said weight or animals... she said animals !!!!
smack.gif
to her too !!!! She drives me nuts !!!!!! lol

So anyway, thanks to all of you who were concerned... I couldn't stay awake long enough to post last night.... Did I say I love that drug VerSed ?? LOL

Oh and here is the absolute worst news !!!! I can't go in my new swimming pool for TWO WEEKS !!! *** !!!!! Summer will definitely be over !!! See I told ET not to put it up!!! Now it is half full of water and is gonna tease me in this hot weather. Where they went in with the catheter they didn't put in one of those plugs which I had last time. That was very painful. This doesn't hurt at all but I guess they don't want the skin to get wet and soft, thus increasing the risk of bleeding...would not be good..

SClark, MG I can't believe that they would say that about low protein !!!! And without any tests ? I would definitely go to the urgent care or to your doctor and have that verified and checked out. Nothing to mess with.... Especially after surgery, you are at high risk of blood clots. Nothing to mess with. Nice story you son wrote, hope he wins.

Bigz, you must be so proud of your daughter!! Thoughts and prayers semt to her for a safe journey !!
Ok back to reading.

Jim, did you ever think you may be flooding the market with guineas?? If even half of what you've sold reproduces it will put your guinea business out of business !!! lol

It's that moment when you realize your bed is dry but smells like pee. You know you didn't do it, know who did do it, and know you're too tired to do anything about it right now. So you will just lay in bed smelling pee fumes planning to fix it... Later. Good Morning All!
This is why I changed to letting them bring their pillow in our room and kept a spare blankie at the foot of our bed for them to sleep on the floor next to us...I like em close just not to comfortable and if they managed to pee in their own beds after about the 3rd time of changing sheets in the middle of the night, I put a nice fluffy towel out so they could spread it on their bed and sleep in their own pee...Waking up like that is just no fun, but like unkadan said at least you can open the windows!!

Frenchy,
