Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Here ya go VickyW. Sorry I didn't reply to your question about FF and antibiotics. By the time I read it you had already been there and back with what you needed. Glad you found it. For anyone else that needs antibiotics. Most Fleet Farms, Farm

THANK YOU FOR THE LINK, IT'S GREAT! :hugs

You are welcome.   I probably have more links in my favorite's but like everything else is not organized but managed to find this one. So did your hubby even ask someone at FF or did he do the typical Man thing and not ask (kinda like not asking for driving directions !! LOL )

That's what really .add me $&?@&$ !!! He did ask! Called me and then asked again! That's what I said about the kids they hire for weekends :th

Well...porential disaster avoided....DS9 was vacuuming his room when the outlet caught on fire. It melted the carpet underneath, black burn marks on the wall, and filled the house with smoke. We turned the house electric off, disconnected & removed the outlet, and capped off the wires. But...it was a great opportunity to discuss types of fires, ways to sufficate them, and seeing that we had a partially charged extinguisher..an opportunity to practice using one.

let's see: DRINK NIGHT can be at my house. I have a CAMPER that SLEEPS 8. You won't even need a tent!

VICKIW: I am one of those stupid people. My poodle is too smart for me. Or not too smart for me, but smart in a away I don't have the patience to get. I'm taking him to a dog training class I hate. I totally feel with how smart he is, he should never give me the stupid look and not do what I've said (especially when he's heard it over and over). That being said, I have had him in a 32 hr long puppy boot camp, now I'm taking him to this training class, and then I'm getting a shock collar. The trainer at the boot camp showed me how to use the collar as a training device and not as a punitive device. Shadow needs a correction that goes beyond the thinking, to the basic level of comfort. Lowest level, uncomfortable. I don't like that, I guess I should avoid that. Lots of praise when things are done the way they should be. It's ok to have differing opinions. This is not politics or religion, so a safe topic to discuss. ;-) i do not want to torture him with the shock collar (ok... may be the day he killed my Sally if I had one) but in general I want to preserve his sensitivity for the autism work. But I also need to him accept that in all things his people are in charge. Big or small, when they say sit or come or down or off, he does it. Big or small, he will not bite or nip them in play. He can absolutley grasp that. He wants to be a good boy, but he also has a teenage pup mentality to him now that will test everything. A simple little bbzzzz and he will know, i guess I will not bite that boy...

On another note: my chocolate cockerel was crowing this morning. What?! He is so young! Apparently Drizzle thinks he's got big boy pants now and going to test his lungs out. Silly chicken. I did put Drizzle and Ganache outside for a few hours in the sun and on the grass to start exposing them to our dirt and birds. George wanted to eat those chocolate Orpingtons! I kept telling him they weren't really chocolate, but he wouldn't listen...

oh and Kendra... so glad everyone is ok at your place and the house is still pretty intact!!!! (when i'm at work I hate how the sentences all run together so I'll just post a bunch of mini posts. Then I'll take the pressure off CC's double postings for a while)

talk about excitement !!! I had something like that happen in a house we were renting right after I got out of the army.. I was sawing with my table saw, and all of a sudden the basement was full of stinky smoke .. my 50 foot long extension cord burned from one end to the other.. IDK what caused it,

Vicki, Dora is doing better each day.. thanks for asking.. we started her on some supplements yesterday for her stiff joints.. too soon to tell if they are working..

My baby pea chick didn't look too well this morning.. so I put her up into the brooder pen with the newest guinea keets. she has not laid down , so maybe she will be OK after she gets warmer..
I think she just got chilled.. Annie and I talked about her,, we both thought that she was not growing like she should be.. sort of runty..

I sat out in the yard for awhile this afternoon.. I took a loaf of bread along.. a couple of the geese, even one of the Sebastopols , came and ate out my hand,, and one guinea rooster did, too.. Of course just about every chicken did, once they saw another one doing it..

last night the guineas in the coop decided to make a pile on the floor instead of roosting.. I rearranged the night light to shine on the roosts, so maybe they will end up there tonight.. they managed to suffocate one of them.. sometimes they can be as dumb as turkeys ..

I think this hatch is over.. 11 for the grand total.. not a great hatch, but who knows how long those eggs were in that nest, eh ?
I will give them until tomorrow before I toss the rest..

the next batch is dated for 8/29 .. only 2 batches to go and then all the bators will be turned off.. only will turn them back on in an emergency ..

after watching the chicks grow and mature,, I think the Buff Orpingtons would make the best meat chickens .. the barocks and Delawares are not near as big for their age.. I think I might hatch a big batch next spring and butcher roosters and pullets at 14 to 16 weeks old..

The best thing we have found for our dogs other than the training you are going through is exercise, the more exercise they get the better behaved they become. I too agree with the use of the collar especially if you use it with a clicker or or whistle or verbal eventually you can do away with the shock and just use the clicker, whistle or verbal...All animals and children want to be good and get praised but sometimes bad attention is better than no attention. Biting people though not sure what to think about that one... somehow I do not think i could ever tolerate a dog that intentionally bite someone,
Going over to the neighbors to see what she hatched... its a lav orp cross of some sort i am sure

Shadow thinks the kids are litter mates, so he bites at them like he would another puppy while playing. But he is 55 lbs now, and 9 months old and can certainly get the idea that he can't play that way. He is finally 2 nuts lighter though. Had his snipped last friday. Had post op complications. He was given too small a cone for one thing. He had already licked his incision raw by the time he came home Saturday. He had already chewed the cone off at the vet too. Then he gave himself diahrrea for 3 days because he was so stressed about the cone, and the pain med. Tues I had 1 hr inbetween therapy sessions and had to run the dog over to Lodi to get his incision looked at, get him a bigger cone, and get him fitted for a MediPet shirt. My poodle has a onesie on! He can have the cone off while in the house. He can't lick because he has a shirt with a snaps and velcro crotch to it. Everytime he has to go out, I have to undo his fasteners, fold up the shirt, refasten it, put the cone on, so he can go outside and pee but not lick. It's super fun. Why my dog can't have a simple nut cut with no issues I don't know...

"Why my dog can't have a simple nut cut with no issues I don't know..."

simple for you to say, life changing for the dog

plus, your life is basically screwed right now, why not complications from the dog?
