Actually after looking at some pictures of chickies, I don't think the black one is a SLW because it doesn't have the striping.

Delisha-the cuckoo maran, will it be black & white striped as an adult? The black chick is probably the maran. I should look at the empty shelss, I guess. I'm just trying to leave them all alone.

What a day yesterday!!!! Met up with a former co-worker and went out on the town in Appleton. Hit a bunch of the clubs/bars on College Ave....... and I think I am getting too old for headbanging.... my neck is a little sore today. The main thing is we had a VERY good time! We needed a few more ladies with us though....... and the location of where the older kids hang out and play. Watching the 20-somethings was pretty entertaining for me since I never did any of that when I was that age.

Before heading out to Appleton, a friend of mine made a comment on fb about this bakery that was featured on Kitchen Nightmares...... so I just HAD to find the episode and watch it. WOW

I think those two are certifiable! Kept me entertained for quite a bit! Just finding all of the commentary online...... wow......

DD18 is out goose hunting with the BF this morning.... and ended up getting pelted with quarter sized hail. I'll try to get a pic of it up here later.

I suppose I need my second cup...

It is hard to leave them alone. I assume it is one of project eggs I sent. I think it is the Jubilee F1. Look to see if it has an upright tail already...like a duck.

Good morning all, wow is it soggy out there! The chickens are finding the grasses exceptionally tasty this morning, fresh clover dressed in dew . . . YUMM

Had a nice visit with Kristip and her DD Friday when she stopped for cucumbers. We made it a short one since it was so blasted hot, and I'm sure she had just a few things to do since she was hosting two large gatherings this weekend for the twins birthday.
I scored two more dog kennel panels on CL that were less than 10 miles away. We want to extend the girls 16'x30' run before we head up North fishing, since they won't have access to their big pasture/range area for that week. Boy I absolutely love finding those panels on resale!!

Colton: Glad the meal worm farm is going well. Mine has gone crazy with this hot weather. Just like the tomatoes!

jvls: Sorry to hear about the keets - glad your hen made it.

TO: Kristip and I are minutes away from Coop, and I think there are a several others. Maybe we could have that meet and greet at the park across from Susan's store this fall. There is a small shelter there (in case of rain) and playground for kids. I have a couple of open Saturdays in October, what's everyone think?

FrenchT: I'm sorry to hear about your cousin and I so hope the news stays on a positive track for your sister

chickstracth: Congrats on the LD hatch - how fun. We really enjoyed ours this spring.

I got new neighbors this week. Their dog came and killed one of my chickens. I beat her in their yard then told them if I see her in,my yard again she will be shot. Then I pointed at the dead chicken and said "you can clean up the chicken it killed". And I walked away. Next time I'll call the cops so they get a fine. But the third time is a bullet. If it kills certain ones there may be more than a dog getting a bullet. That's my terroristic threat for the day.

Absolutely!!! however, try to keep in mind the dog was doing what an untrained dog allowed to run loose will do. Not the animal's fault. Well, not completely. Too bad we can't shoot the neighbors. I can totally relate. I am going to be having a similar conversation with a new neighbor down the road in the near future too I am afraid. Would have already but did not know where the animal belonged at the time and fortunately, unlike you, I have not suffered a loss yet. My personal second step (if I am able to convey the "first step" face to face") is the offending animal goes for a ride to the pound with the explanation it was found running loose on my property. Then I know for sure if it re-appears it has been given all it's shots. Then it is a phonecall to the sheriff. If, however, at any time my girls are in direct threat, well then, I will take care of the shots myself.

Not a good day... Lost my father today 82, very lucky man died in his favorite chair watching TV But as TO said I have 18 mo. twin grandnieces this weekend so being kept very busy which is a good thing. So tomorrow morning I am sending DH to the raceway to select a couple of new ones for our brood. Unfortunately I have to do some planning that no one wants to do

Amy I gave you my horror story (I was eternally preggers) so I think Sunday is a good day to relax and start the week out right...
9/1/2013 11:15pm little boy ( as Heather would say 2 balls) and hmmm weight 7# 10 oz...But my bowling ball is 14 lbs and I would not wish that on anyone!! Good luck and smooth pushing

As for the neighbors dog... Shame on them I certainly hope they offered some kind of restitution! At least it would show some kind of responsibility. I understand animals react based on instinct, but good training to stay in ones yard is a basic principal all pet owners should strive for. My neighbor has lost 3 to her own dog that i think would cause me to rethink my dog...
