Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

yes my drive in to work this morning said -7..yuck. hubby is home with hte kids all day so I guess he might be crabby when I get home tonight! One kid is going to a birthday party sleep over and we are taking the other out to dinner at Ginza(hibachi steakhouse)
this cold is hard on the eggs. We are going out to cehck on the birds twice a day when we can, but still the eggs are cracked...and they are back to laying again!
Anyone near madison doing a johnnys seed or jungs order? I would split shipping if on an order for seeds. Need to get my grow table up and running. Thinking of planting millet this year...what other good ones for the birds? Any flowers they eat? I usually do rainbow chard in front of the run for pretty and food for them...was hoping to mix it up with flowers. They have their own strawberry patch too...unless my kids spot the berries first...then itis igame on!

ok back to work
Kristi-Jung's has free shipping if the order is over $50 and before March 1st (I think).

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year All!
I would have said that sooner, but I took a bath instead! LOL

Jim.... I think your right. I'll start slowly, just dropping hints. Then hit them hard about Aug. Maybe we'll have it in by Oct! (font seems to have screwed up)

DrH.... Good to see you! Glad the kids are doing good and getting spoiled! So sorry about PeaTwo

I know he was your baby.

TO.... I hope you can help Liza get better.

Keri.... I'm in Burlington/Lyons area. Maybe we can meet up sometime.

Bl4.... Glad the kitties are doing better! Some people don't realize you don't have to be Christian to be a good person. They also don't understand just because you gloat about being a "Good Christian" doesn't automatically make you a good person. Some of the worse, ill- mannered, vile people I have met, claim they are "Good Christians". The best Christians I have found don't brag, but quietly do good things.

Delish.... Glad Casha is doing better!

Well, that dippy rooster was in when I closed up tonight.

Night All!

Happy New Year! We have 7 inches and building. We are supposed to get 4 more today and lake effect snow tomorrow (of unknown amounts).

We are planning to take the kids sledding today as they have only been able to go once this season. DH is planning to make an English roast for dinner, but there is no eggnog in any store around us

I've got to go out, shovel a path to the coop, open it up, and gather the eggs.

Tomorrow, we are heading to Chinatown! Oh yum.

Happy New Years

Yep we are in the middle of our annual New Years Day hatch-set 50 eggs- went to bed last night(way before mid-night-DH is fighting a chest cold so extra sleep is very good) and had 1 egg pipped, got up this morning and had about 13 eggs pipped and 1 almost out. Now we have 4 Andalusian chicks out! Update 5 chicks out

I had asked earlier in the year for advice, recommendations, supply suggestions, etc for us in our adventure into tapping out trees. Someone had sent me a link for a set up using plastic spouts, buckets, and tubing (I think it may have been JJ). Whoever it was, could you please resend the information????????

good morning, and HAPPY NEW YEAR ..

I didn't want to go out last night,, I ended up going to BOTH parties ..
had a good time at both places, too..

I think I have all the guineas rounded up.. yesterday I found 2 more renegades wanting to get back into the coop.. I picked one of them up and put it into the warmer chicken coop.. It died within 2 hours.. the other is doing fine.. IDk where they spent the last 3 days..

both dogs wanted to go out after midnight.. they wouldn't come back in,, this morning they were both in the dog house.. No CC, not in trouble,, we actually have a dog house..

Dora continues to get fatter each day.. I hope she is PG or else she is really really in bad shape ..
I don't think chewing on that deer rib cage would make her that fat ..

We finally found a good toenail trimmer for Dora..(after 3 failed attempts) .. that battery powered grinder from PetCo was a complete piece of sh!t.. they are taking it back..

Annie made a pizza from scratch, except for the crust.. the crust was the only bad part of the venture.. so tough you needed a steak knife to cut through it.. Next time I will mix up a crust from scratch..

this post is so long because I am stalling going outside.. still -2 below..

CS, make your own eggnog! Alton Brown has a good recipe. If you have a Kwik Trip nearby they have decent tasting nog, you need to cut it with milk due to the sweetness level. You can find tree tapping supplies at Fleet Farm.....

Boring day here, so I am watching My Cat From Hell. ( Sorry mods, that is the title of the tv show)

There are some interesting people out there.........

It may have been me.

I use all those things for sap collecting.

a link does not come to mind though.

I tap my trees with plastic spiles and run clear tubing from them through the lid and into a 5 gallon bucket on the ground. nothing with weight hanging on the tree to fall. Less debris in the sap, and the plastic spiles do not need as big of a hole in the tree. 5/16 I think.
