Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

We're lucky. My DH plows in the side. He plowed the slush before if froze. Thank God for that. Still had to sprinkle some salt down on the concret.

I got 11 girls. And since I put the light in the coop to keep them warm......I got 10 that are laying!

I can't believe what a difference that really made. And to think.....I said I wasn't going to add light unless I had too. Well- I had to and now look! I'm so happy for that.

It's snowing right now!

Good New Year's Eve to All!

Me & Suzie are staying home tonight. Crispy pork chops and cheese potatoes with buttered corn on the menu.

Buck Creek, thanks for sharing....ahh the memories I could share!

fordmommy...glad to hear your girls are laying welll for you. Collecting eggs often during this weather will keep you busy, eh?

My girls are getting their needed rest. If the light is turned on during this cold snap, it won't be long and they will be laying too. I wish it was warmer though.

Anyone who's out tonight...Stay Safe.

BCC: Loved the 10' snowball bet they had a blast doing it. fordmommy: congrats on the 10 eggs. I don't know what the heck I'm doing right but I'm still getting 10/10. Maybe I'm taking too much credit. Give credit where credit is due. THEIR SUCH GOOD GIRLS!

I don't have a heat lamp in there but do have a morning light that goes on at 6. And the coop is real tight and I'm using the deep litter method. Think that helps with it being a concrete floor. Keeps it warmer. All I know for sure is that THEIR SUCH GOOD GIRLS!

I still get so much joy from coming home and going out to visit and gather eggs. Looking forward to being able to spend more time with them. I looked today and 134 calandar days left. That seemed like a lot so I looked again. 10 more paychecks. Actually 5 more after that for vacation time. Not that I'm excited or looking forward to it. I hope that all the chicken people out there have a very happy new year! May you all find happiness in your day and peace in your hearts! Follow your Dr's advise pull down your pants and slide on the ice. [Sydney Freidman]

Bigzio: I know it's probably too late to ask but what time is supper? It all sounds delish! We opted for pizza and beer. One of my favorite menu's. It started out as shrimp scampy but that doesn't go as well with beer. Scampy tomorrow. Brought home a structural steel book and am making up a materials list to build the new plow for the tractor. I have the blade and the new design will allow me to push from the axle instead of the frame. The framed cracked from the old design [not mine] nothing serious but I want it welded or brazed up this spring. I need to get it all finished before May. Always somethin!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

We went snowmobiling yesterday. Finally the trails opened. The trails were pretty nice. Not too badly beaten. Probably will be today though.

My boys had a great time. We all just LOVE snowmobiling! We do that a lot. It's our "family time" in the winter. Hopefully there will be many more days to go before spring comes.

I will do my snow dance if I have to!

Two more years before the oldest can go on his own snowmobile. WOW! How time flies. Seems like just last week I was holding him in the hospital.

AHHhhh. Babies. I'll have to wait for those grand babies in about 10 years.

Here is what I hope 2010 will bring me;

Happy New Year to All You Chicken Lovers! May God smile on you & your flock thru out 2010...
I have just spent time catching up from the beginning of Nov. & everyone has been so busy!
Bigizio- it is nice to keep up with your postings, sorry to hear about the loss of your bird tho.
Tyler- congrats are in order for you & your accomplishments!
Welcome to those who are new to BYC as well...I know you will glean LOTS of info from this spot & the comraderie is out of this world.
SuperiorChicks- I am still wondering how you are & how your'girls' are braving the northern weather...

'My girls' are not exactly loving the winter, as many of you have said about your flocks. During these bitterly cold days I have kept the girls shut inside & give them a special feeding late, in hopes to help keep them warmer thru the nite, as they have no heat in their condo. They are all still laying tho, so they are hearty soldiers I guess. The run I covered with the plastic sheeting to block the wind & it also has a roof over half of the total length of the run, which helps with snow control.
I did buy & install an auto door opener & I do like that...it is a nice feature to have.
With the sub zero temps coming at us again...oh, how I wish spring was already here! Keep Warm & Safe Everyone!

Well-yesterday I inherited some new family members. 3 Barred Rock pullets, 3 red sexlink, and 1 guinea pullet. My neighbor who had all those chickens this summer had cut down this fall to those. Her Dh has a bad back and the other day was taken by ambulance to the hospital cuz he couldn't get out of bed. They found that one of his disks was leaking spinal fluid but they think that he will not require surgury.

Then she got her electric bill. $300~!

So she decided to cut back.

Her youngest DD is upset. I told her she could come and visit any time.

Her DH came home and is doing well. He can get up and walk a little. At leaast to the bathroom and around the house. But he will be off work for a while. He drives for a local gas company. Poor guy.

Hope everyone is fairing well in this britter cold. Staying pretty warm in the coop.

Good Evening to all....

Nice to see another Packer win! Hope they can repeat again next week against the Cards in the playoffs.
fl.gif

fordmommy congrats on the new additions to your flock. I hope the transitions to the new home went well for both flocks. Sometimes in can be a real trying ordeal.

chicksalot...superior chicks hasen't returned my emails. I hope she is mad at me, rather than health issues though...
hit.gif
I'll keep trying...I miss her too!

DrH....you won't miss the paychecks a bit. Some of the co-workers that are friends will stay in touch. They can stop by anytime, and even bring their favorite beer... free beer tastes best you know?
