Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Wow, everyone must be sleeping in this morning...

well now there are 3 of us who are sick- DS(12) has been home since Monday, myself as of yesterday and now DS(8) as of last night. I had just went to bed when I heard DS(8) get sick- he had fallen asleep on the couch-yep did an awesome job
sickbyc.gif
so I had to clean him up and that section of the couch-sad to say the section didn't make it...we've had the couch for 13.5 years and it has seen a lot of use and this smell you just can't get rid off. DD and DH are extremely sensitive to certain smells so DH was no help last night...sigh . Good thing it was a sectional- at least the boys have something to lay on.

DD pretty much took over for me last night

- did all the chores by herself and made some supper as well based on what we thought would go good- no one was super hungry. DH was still working and then as soon as he got home- he had to take DS(12) in to the peds after hour clinic as his doctor wanted to make sure he didn't have some thing like walking pneumonia as his temp. has been going up and down.

So if I take it slow and rest often, I am good to go.

Have a great day everyone!

Relaxing with Ross? You must have met his 6:30am carnal needs.

Jim I think you should pack up your butchering supplies and come for a visit! (After the blazer door is fixed. Wouldn't want you to fall out on the way!) I'm completely sick and tired of all the freeloaders. I spend way too much on feed to get may be one egg a day since June with 20+ chickens. And I'm not exaggerating! Of my hens only 5 of them are going on 2. The other 15 were all new last spring and not laying! ***?

I'm currently saddled with 5 extra roosters as well. I wouldn't butcher my choc orps, and may be a few others would be spared. But I refuse, REFUSE to buy eggs with 20 hens and 5? 6? Female ducks. I thought newbies pol will lay through out the winter their first year regardless of light hrs???

Besides Jim... I'm sure Georgie would love to see her first daddy :-D

I am only getting one egg per day, and it is obviously coming from the Turkey. All my hens are freeloading right now.

My wife got a kick out of this and it made me think of some folks I read on here...enjoy!

I have a question for all you men...do you ALL have these "carnal needs" ? And at 6:30 AM--what is UP with that?

BigFam--I think it would be much easier for you to take your birds to him! They are a lot more portable than his gigantic plucker! I have a ton of extra roos here too that need the axe...if it would only warm up for more that two days!
I never had much luck with POL pullets laying all winter either. I think the high production breeds might but not heritage types. You think YOUR bill is high? Imagine all of my birds and I am getting around 10 eggs a day now. The new pullets have started laying FINALLY so I am doing better. I did buy some eggs from my client and did that test. HMMM--maybe I need to eat some more eggs and potatoes...that was surely delicious!

Well, I better get moving here...I need to clean out the fridge--cooking WAY too much lately!
Have a good one! TerriO

(PS) feel better soon H&R family!

But JJ... Ever since the cocci outbreak in June I'm lucky to get one egg a day. Tired of not having eggs to eat :-(
You are right chickens at freezer camp don't cost much to feed.

and you can incubate some new ones

I will give you my turkey one big egg a day. Of course she eats like a horse.

It is nature's little joke. Men's testosterone levels rise while they sleep and women's decline. So Men are more sexually interested when women are least sexually interested.

Sometimes science sucks!

Men need to learn to go to bed earlier and ask then.

I thought about making a sausage comment but of course BigFam beat me to it.....

H&R, you can get the smell out of your couch using any of the animal urine/vomit enzyme cleaners or mix up a dilution of white vinegar. Works like a charm.

If you are going to do a butcher day, I would be happy to assist.

Time for lunch...... ;)

Hey cc rabbit question(s). I found a lady on cl. I was interested in her "mini rex". She explained how she was getting over run. I backed off a little. She insisted she could not send pics. Then a few days later, she called and begged me to come take them. Marital issues. Upon arrival, we discover there is a litter. 3 does and one buck in that pen. 2 babies dead. Pen underneath, 3 bucks. Two with genitalia injuries.
Question 1; is it ok to use surgical sollution in that area? Should I allow it to scab? I'm thinking keep it open. No sign of infection. Very fresh wound.
Question 2; another buck has a wound right on the penis. Surgical sollution ok there? I am thinking maybe not...
All are separated. And seem to be doing ok. I am a bit nervous. Because she was completely out of food and could not send any to mix. I am feeding free choice hay to up the fiber to hopefully prevent stress induced diarrhea. And electrolytes.
Open to other suggestions :)
New bunnies and the condition they were being kept in I would definitely be giving them some yogurt to get their digestive tract straightened out and pineapple chunks for hair balls... just in case

TO I think maybe one of the experiments has laid a new egg but does not look very green. I will also say that the Heritage breed Mottled Java that I have from last spring has laid 6 out of the last 7 days throughout the winter, I am so going to add another couple of them to the flock next spring or if I have some losses. Hoping to get a broody eventually then I will order some eggs and give little Javas to all my chicken friends...Right now though 9 has my little 4x8 coop pretty full.

Daylight must be picking up cause it appears my Americauna is back to laying finally too!

More snow today just an inch or two and glad all the big snows were up north the little 3-4 we got though sure did blow.

Started a Fit Body Bootcamp this week and I am sore., but I am going to go back again tonight.
