The cabinet maker that did my kitchen cabinets as well as my entire house doesn't have a "factory" where doors have to ride through a nail bed. This must be a pretty big company. And a careless one at that.

Custom cabinets do not come from a factory. Get out while you can. Putty in the nail holes will not fix the issue. You will likely be out the $. But it is your choice. If you have only made a down payment, run before he talks more out of you. I bet they look the same or worse when they come back. Document and have pictures of the cabinets incase you need proof of why you backed out of the contract. Ask to see his samples again. And snap pics of those to prove the difference.

Hubby is crabby today. This weekend should be great.

Yep...been a long winter ( work outdoors )....It gets to 40's....I'll be working In shorts & t-shirt after getting used to this winter.

Judge, Jim is correct. You are paying premium prices for custom cabinets. Therefore, you should be getting a top quality product free from any defect or mismatching, and better looking than anything you could get in a box from a home improvement store. Tell him you will not accept the cobbled up junk he is trying to pass off to you. That stuff belongs in a garage, not in your kitchen. Put your foot down, get mad about it and demand the quality you were promised. Otherwise you will be sad and upset every single time you look at those cabinets. Don't let him take advantage of you. Those cabinets are scrap and he knows it. He is just trying to make some serious cash out of garbage he probably found at the dump. Don't let him screw you over. That is just wrong.

Hey Judge, I'm in agreement with the others. My hubby was a lead carpenter for a local builder that did lots of high end homes in Madison, so he, like Jim has had experience in this area and has the same advice . . . basically don't pay the last amount of $$$ until this is resolved. The inside of the doors should look as nice as the outside, this is not the underside of the drawers.

At DD13 & 11 improv regional competition. It is an all day thing. DD 13 is in a technical group that creates a skit around a prop that has to hold a bunch of weight. DD11 is in a comedy art group.

Hey Kristi, Morgan has to be stoked about her science project. Even if the hatch wasn't what you'd hoped for, I would think this is pretty major for a seven year old. When is the project due?

So last night's weather forecast said possible 40's late next week . . . I was hopeful spring is on it's way

I see this morning the forecast is back to 30's and snow

good morning, after reading the rest of the comments about the cabinets, I am getting angry all over again.. what kind of custom cabinet shop has a conveyor line anyway ??
have you been to the guys shop ?

I installed a lot of factory built cabinets .. from the low end $$$ to the high end $$$ .. there might have been , no, there were issues with the low end ones, but at least the doors, drawers and face frames all matched in color .. and free of blemishes ..

and I agree, if you are not happy with the installation, it will bother you for the rest of your days in that kitchen.. you will not grow to love it ..

guys like that are the ones who make people distrust all contractors .. he should be run out of business.. If he is doing this out of ignorance, then he should do another type of work.. If he is doing this on purpose, he is a CROOK <<

Good Morning All....That really sucks about the cabinets judge. Custom cabinets are for folks that demand quality. Those cabinet makers take real pride in their work. I would fight to get out of the contract....those are not custom cabinets period. Contracts are made to broken.

Brandy Creek Cabinets just a couple miles from here build quality stuff. Wayne would never be able to build cabinets that he wouldn't be proud of...besides word of mouth is your best advertisement and you should be able to ask for references of his work. WTH?
