x2 Happy Day to you and yours!!..
Congrats and happy anniversary Momgille!

Delisha, thank you SO much for that help! After my failed attempt at cooking him up yesterday, tonight was fabulous from the crock pot. I heard around at some point that soaking in buttermilk would help tenderize the meat, due to the lactic acid, and he sat in the fridge for two days, but per your advice, I was a couple days too early in cooking anyway.

Be back soon, kids are calling
Buttermilk is one of the best brines you can make for chicken..I love it for fried or baked. I use it when I plan on coating any chicken in a batter.
Another good one is Italian dressing
Plain ole mayo and lemon is good too
just coat the chicken in the goop and place in zip lock bag..toss in the fridge for a few days.

Happy Anniversary!

Not such a good day today...our turkey baby didn't make it, 1 chick didn't make it-it was the runt of the eggs and we ended up having to put Jack Black down- he got spooked this afternoon and broke a back leg......

DS(8) took it pretty hard, he stayed right by my side through the whole process at the vet's office.

Out to do chores and go hang out with the kids

Hi All!

Happy Anniversery Momg!

Jim... Jon's friend who moved out there a few years ago is a foreman for a tree trimming co. He had worked for his friend's dad who owns a tree service in Ill. when they needed extra help so he has some experience. It just so happens they need to hire so great timing! If that falls through I guess there is a back up too. He's got like 3 places he can live too. They may even fight over him LOL

brace yourself, turkeys have a high mortality rate when they are young..
you should try to keep them away from any coop or yard where chickens were ever kept.. at least for the first 13 weeks..
their immune systems are not very developed during this time..
chickens carry blackhead, and if a turkey catches it, there is no known cure..
that is the reason I built my two raised pens.. they call them turkey porches..

they will become lethargic , and by the time you notice it, they will be dead the next day ..

Del-DD13 and I won't be able to come over this weekend. But I'll be able to stop by over my Spring break 3/22-3/30. I have to wait until I figure out my schedule for spring break based on construction that will be occurring that week.
