Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yes they are like the ones at the hardware store. I just clip off the ends carefully with snippers. Do keep in mind that they need to be monitored so that the chickens don't out grow the size that you've set the tie at. If this happens it becomes extremely difficult to get off and will impact the bird.

Nice time with TO and Starfire tonight. She is a really nice lady....glad you brought her along terri, I know she wanted to stay with us, maybe next time you will allow her?

How many pups do you have left Jim? Nice to see folks show up when you expect them to, eh!

Shoveled some more white stuff today. Hope this is the last on the Robins back this spring.

And I can't even blame it on Heather this time either. Oh well.

On the chicken saddles, you want the snaps to be that way or they won't hold up to the roosters "attentions". I like the saddles that have the curve on the bottom for their tail, but that is just me.

Since the eyes are burning, I'm going to bed now. Sweet dreams, all! New kitty pics to come soon.

I have to share with all of you this web site for when you crave a little something sweet but do not want to make a lot.

I made the Gooey Chocolate Cakes for Two tonight..... since the egg ratio is rather high it is not quite like a cake, but close enough for my purposes.

Jinx has just about ripped all of her stitches out, but her belly looks like it is healing nicely. Annabelle has a bit of an oozing wound, so the dress remains on. I am hoping they BOTH do not bust their guts open. The vets office used the laser for the spay surgery, so I am hoping they used some dermabond material on the wound to keep it closed (it would make sense since they each had only three stitches).

This winter is some kind of sick, cruel joke. I for one have had more than enough. I demand warmer temperatures and sunshine NOW!

yeah Brent, the lady said whe would be between 6:3o and 7 :eek:o and she was right on time..She drove from Lk Mills to Milw and then up to Wausau and then back to Lk Mills..

we have 2 boys and 3 girls left..

I had to chuckle at these 3 women,, a couple of the puppies went out onto the field,, 2 of the gals followed them and carried 3 of them back.. when they got back I told them that they didn't have to carry them, they would have come back on their own.. but it was fun watching them trying to catch the pups in that deep snow.. the pups could run on top of it,, the gals were sinking up to their knees....

Hi All!
I'm typing on my brand new laptop!

Compared to that "antique" I was using before.... it's amazing! The touch pad is a little too touchy though, I keep nicking it when I type.

Welcome to the Newbies!!!

Guess I should get to bed, Neil starts a new med in the morning and I have to take him to the clinic for his first dose and monitoring.

Nothing else interesting here. Night All!

Thank you Chickenscractch!!

Morning everyone!

Good morning! Today is supposed to be sunny! Fingers crossed!
Jim isn't it funny when people think those puppies are helpless and need to be carried and coddled. But yes, enterentertaining!

good spring morning,

yeah, cooties, these pups are especially independent.. I was watching from the patio door this morning.. they are out in the field.. a bunch of them took off running way back past the green house.. one got left behind.. he just looked around, didn't start crying, and walked back into the yard and began snooping on his own..

I have yet to see one of them lay on their back in submission when they are play fighting..

I don't know what to do today.. maybe the snow will slide off the north side of the house, and then I can take Ollie and move it to the snow pile away from the house..

Cuties - Where is there a breeder in WI? I'm working with a breeder in MI... may initially get them from her and then investigate the WI breeder when I need to add stock to my generation breeding plan.

Welcome to our 2 newbies!! I agree a bigger coop or a second might work. Especially if you plan on breeding and swapping/selling purebred eggs, that way you have multiple coop to house your different breeds.

I made my first chicken saddles over the last 2 days.... does anyone have any opinoins what shape works best (the one like mine, verses one that has swallowtail shape or the ones with the wings). Also any suggestion on securing them? I added snaps but I can barely open them, it will be a hassle once they are on the hen and then I have to take them off.

I am not sure if CC meant this in her post; but I hope those snaps are on the underside of the aprons. You may have difficulty undoing them but the roos will get them off right away with the snaps on top! Hopefully you can just put the on inside out if this is the case. I like the ones with the little dip in the back too CC. I also like the ones with the shoulder protectors. I seem to have more trouble with the shoulders getting bare than their backs. Oh yeah--you wont have to take them off...then hens will get them off and lose them in no time...at least that is what mine do!

No fuzzy picture, they are actually taking off the brick facing. This next week 3/21-3/30 that whole wall is coming down!
AH--I thought they were putting it UP!

OK my time is up now...I have to set a timer or I spend all day on here poking around...have a good one and enjoy the sunshine!
