Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

You guys are too funny tonight! I just made the most delicious casserole...wild rice, broccoli, and a cream of mushroom (home made) sauce. OMG--so delicious! Tommy liked it too!

I am heading to bed...nighties! TerriO

when my kids were small, I went outside on the Sat before Easter Sunday and blasted a hole in the sky with my shotgun..
then I came back into the house and told them that I just shot the easter bunny..

and on Christmas Eve I too my shotgun outside and .............

My husband has threatened the kids with doing just this.

Sam, I feel for ya! When we were little, we were woke in the middle of the night to find the sweetest two bunnies in a box. Nobody told us they were not our pets. Sad sad dinner the next nigjt. I think that evening is when I got weird about not eating something I've met.
Chicks are good.
Cristi, sorry you wound up with a lone roo!!
Jim, I am glad you were not my daddy!! I would have cried on and on!!
Night all

Hi All!

So happy it's going to warm up some... hopefully allot! It would be just our luck this will be our summer! LOL

Darn chickens found a new favorite nest spot. At least it's easy to get at. That accounts for only 4 eggs yesterday,
found them all in the new spot today!

Guess that's it... Night All!

Good morning Wisconsin!!!

Nice cold morning - again.

I hope the weather guy is right on about this weekend, we are expecting Sunday to be mid to upper 50s. Whoo hoo!!

The only time I ever eaten rabbit was at my grandparents house. My grandfather had shot it with buckshot, it was a little difficult to eat with all that lead in it. Luckily no one broke a tooth over it.

We have 3 rabbits and my DH wants to breed 1 set, but our buck must be 6-8 years now. I wonder if he can still breed?

A question about incubating eggs..... for those who have automatic turners, when you remove the turner do you just place the eggs on their side or do you have an egg carton half that you stand them up in? Which way works best? Or does it really matter?

Have a good day all!!!

The age of the girls is more important. If they are over a year and have never had a litter of kits then it may not be a good idea. If the girls are under a year, in good condition and ready to breed, you might do just that.

A few things I wish I knew before we got rabbits:

1. The Doe is the boss. The bucks all know this.
2. Does can seriously harm / kill a buck if not receptive.
3. Always put the doe in the bucks cage.
4. Breeding rabbits is not as easy as it seems.

So it sounds like we should wear a pair of leather gloves, in the case we need to separate them.

If #2 happened, I think my DH would never do this again with a rabbit he was attached to. He felt bad for a long time when our previous rabbits passed. I'm more indifferent to them, I like them, but I just feel it's part of life.

Both does are under 1 year.

Thanks for the information!
