Great. Had just typed an entire chapter and it shut down on me, deleting it all... Grrrr.
After the early morning chill of 5F it warmed up nicely to 43F today with lots of bright sunshine, that the all the birdies equally enjoyed. Just our drive and turnaround are getting about as bad as yours, Stacie. Deep ruts of mud, driving or turning near impossible and still melting is going strong! At least we should be rid of the white stuff soon this way and can get back to regular operation soon.
Had SO's brother chop the ice that had frozen the juvie pen door shut, due to him having shoveled a deeper hole right in front of the pen.
Then we could get in there and collect our first pheasant eggs if the season! They were frozen, but at least they started! Thinking they might be Ringneck or Lady Amherst ones. Those are the most active ones right now. They don't like or use the nesting boxes we mounted on the wall for them, so of course the eggs were on the ground. Not nice...
Gonna go and cuddle some with the doggies now, relax and let my sore muscles unclench as we were making more firewood this afternoon. BOY was that wood wet! Gotta love wet wet snow and then big melting action...
