Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Where I live it's tricky.  If you live in the town you must have at least 3 acres, I believe.  You can also have roosters.  In the city the law is very vague.  You can basically have as many chickens as you want.  The noise ordinance covers roosters.  I don't know the law about cats and dogs in the town, but in the city you are allowed 2 dogs or 2 cats or one of each without a kennel license.  I'm over the limit on cats and dogs, but most of my neighbors have cats and dogs- nothing will be done unless someone reports you.  As for the chickens, I try to follow Milwaukee and Madison laws- minus the number of chickens we have.  I always have at least 6 at all times.  We currently have 13, but plan on selling 6 as soon as the pullets start laying.

Ah yes I remember the 3 acre rule. We bought a house with 2.9 acres in the town of Waukesha. There's a section off of grandview that's still in the town. Sold it a couple of years ago to buy a bigger house so my parents could move in with us.

We are probably going to the swap by bbl4 tomorrow.
Del, still no eggs from those two. Scott is considering getting out of sl all together! He is very frusterated with those girls for sure!!
His blue slates are laying!
And the lb are doing pretty good too.
Of coarse Ellis is probably still done after all that broody business!
The hen with the issues is well and in the barn. But penned for now to be sure she heals properly :)

We had a duck egg explosion today. Yuck! The whole house was stinky!
Teri, when I cleaned it, I did a quicky on the goose eggs. They look good!! Hopefully you will be gettingthose two back :)

I am such a weak person. I had ordered BLRW bantams from Ideal.and BLRW.from Welp hatchery for our chick sale at work. I bought 5 bantams. All of the standards were reserved, but they sent an extra. So that came home with me too. Why must I work around animals that I can't resist? There were some real cute partidge silkies, too. I really exercised self control with those. But I did end up with a black silkie that had curled toes.

when you are ready to give upon the SL I want them..i will work with them and figure out what we need to do.
Do you have an extra male that you can test for fertility?

Bigz where ru located? Western WI isn't very specific. Lol.

We got 6.5" total today but it's already wanting to start to mush. Went out to get more feed and some groceries for us, almost forgot chick starter (chicks supposed to hatch mid next week) and completely forgot to grab dog food. Of course. HAD to forget something!

Ducks weren't too impressed with the new snow and were mostly hiding in the coop. Got our final order of Ancona eggs (we ordered a dozen), unpacked them and there were 19!!! Now we just started up the other bator since we don't have that much room in our current bator anymore. Wow. We're gonna be swimming in ducklings soon! Lol

Nothing else new up north here. Still no more sight of the bad kitty, but we also set up the additional Nightguards so that should help keep it away.
Set up the brooder so it's ready to go next week. The dogs keep peaking and looking for chicks already. All sad faces when they figure out that the tub is still empty. ;)

Now let the weekend and the warmer days start. I'm SOOO ready for it!

That would totally be me! LOL

Good evening everyone!

Had a good day. Work was easy, I'm about a month ahead which will be really great when the professors realize that they need to move out of the south 1/3 of the building by the end of May. Kids and DH are doing well (Gpa too).

Talked with a variety of people today on the ordinance issue. I had a few higher up/political friends contact the building guy to get additional info. It worked too! There were some councilmen that had a few questions which are being investigated and when they got their answers it would still take a few months before the ordinance is on the books. So I emailed the building guy to offer up my services and information (surrounding communities ordinances, permits, etc) hoping that I have the answer they are looking for and can speed up the process. I think the Mayor and the building guy got my message and the ordinance will be back ON the table for each work week. I'll have my local supporters continue to send letters though.

All in all, a good day. Momma hen still sits on her eggs, rabbits are still making a mess. Hey Cuties, can your DH send blueprints/dimensions for the portable rabbit pen with the triangle hidy hole and the hardware cloth all over?

Sorry to those of you getting snow. There were light flakes sporadically in Kenosha this evening when I took DD13 to her 8:45pm soccer game, but it was done by the time we left (10pm).

Bigz fish friday-did you mention what type today? I missed it if you did. Can't wait to see you at the camp! Hopefully it's warm by then?

You're officially unbanished, Jim.

I think I need to stop in tomorrow morning!!!! I can "window shop" for end of May when I can actually add to the flock and be around to raise/watch them!!! So I think we should take bets on how many of them you end up with by June when chick days end!

Hi All!

Jim.... you can come out of hiding! You know we worry when people disappear.

If I'm feeling OK I may check out the Fur and Feather on the 12th.

Glad you checked in CC.... Glad the band(s) is/are doing so well!

D@mn that wind was wild down here today! Good thing the girls stayed in most of the day, Neil said he saw a hawk circling the house this afternoon,

That's it for me..... Night All!
