Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just got home from the meeting at Camp. Rain going down there around 5pm but nothing freezing yet. Suzie warned me about the ice we might get...hope the temp is 33 tonight and it stays liquid. We don't need down power lines etc.....

Thanks for posting the swap meets and auctions Cind. I hope someone is able to find something close to them that they can attend. I get a blast out of watching the people...LOL!

I hear you about the laws....way to many....actually way, way, to many.

Chickens are doing well, but the yard is looking all torn up. Eventually when the warmth and sun come around and the rain/snow stops maybe the grass will grow. Momma hen is sitting religiously on her clutch of eggs. I try to get outside when she gets off the nest to play in the yard to take out the non-fertile eggs so that she only sits on the important ones. Only 17days remaining!

Other than that, the compost pile is finally thawing a bit on top and the sap has slowed down due to low temps. This weekend should be good for flow as it should be warmer here.

I've got to make some cookies as we are all out!

Night all

Hey all!
Thanks for the vent advice. Never thought of the heat lamp/light thing! She is not enjoying her hpuse time. I will put her back out. Separate from her rooster! He is going crazy!
Cs, awesome news!
Jim, are you waiting to post until cc is cought up?
4-h was tons of fun ti night! I wish I could make that my full time job for sure!
Terri, where have you been?!
Night all!

Oh yes. So far we got 4" and still going strong. SO told me to not even think about moving my car tomorrow. Lol. I just wanted to go to the post office! Oh well, I will just have to talk him into quitting work early and coming back here...

"Big huge snow flakes, coming down ferociously" he just said coming back inside after checking for a still absent bad kitty. Good news that! So I'm outta here til later today, as it's already after midnight. Night all and be safe if you have to venture out!

Boy it is quiet here.

I got a response from the director of building indicating that they are busy with housing projects and have set my proposal aside for the moment. Well, I'm not sitting around waiting for them to untable this. I posted his response on my Facebook page requesting supporters to contact him and the Mayor. I also directly contacted the Mayor again reiterating the response and asking if there is anything that I can do to move this along and whether the Mayor could send an inquiry about how this could be moved along a bit faster.

What are you building/remodeling?

It is quiet on here, seems like it's been the last week or so. Maybe it's the weather we've been having, one day nicer, then the next back to winter. It' supposed to be dreary here today, but better tomorrow. I have 2 3# packages of honeybees to pick up and install, looks like tomorrow will be the day. 1st time beekeepers, so I'vel been spending a lot of time reading the best way to do it, which, as normal, everyone has a different method.

Hope things move along quicker with the building director.

Anyone ever heard of a double yoker hatching out? I have a SS in now due to hatch on the 11th and candled today and both are alive and kicking so far.

I have set them and never had them hatch alive..
Wildsam, what are night gaurds?

I have a hen with a prolapse vent (I think) she layed an egg without a shell day before yesterday. And now has been spending a lot of time in the box. The vent looks just a little more open then our other chickens. She normally lays almost every day

I brought her in. And soaked her in a warm bath with epsom salt. And put hemroid cream on. She is staying in under a heat lamp.
Do I need to do more? Is there more I can do?

Thanks in advance for any advise!!
you did good..
it sounds like a little prolaps...I have heard of it sticking out and having debris sticking to it and needing flushing.
as long as she does not do it again she should be fine.
