Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening all!
Eventful day today. After the lockdown on Monday 1 of 7 eggs started hatching yesterday. Zipped about halfway thru and then stopped. Today another brown leghorn chick zipped it open and stopped. When I looked at them after coming home, they both seemed stuck. I checked them and found that both got kinda glued to the membrane. Took them out and with lots of warm running water, hot wet washcloth and patience got them both unglued and they hatched not even half an hour later! Now they are beeping up a storm!

Aren't they cute?!
Now I hope they're good in the brooder under the heat lamp since we both need some sleep for more excitement tomorrow. Gotta move his son from EC up to us. Lost his apartment due to his whiny dog, and last week his job. Just great...

Congrats to Ur new ride Jim.
Hello to all the newbies and admiring people helping out animals as I do without thought for money etc.

So this is it for tonite. Hope I won't have to catch up too much next time!

Hi All

Deli.... are you talking about the swap in Elkhorn? If so, that's Sat.

Congrats on the hatches!

Hope your happy with your new ride Jim.

Ahg!

.... DH brought home a whole case of Green Beans that are going bad. Not sure how many pounds but the box says it's a bushel. After washing and picking threw them I may save a little over half. The birds will be happy.

Back to work.... Night All!

good morning,, I went to bed early last night, so I had some reading to do this morning..

I am happy with my new ride , so far.. However, with a used car, I notice every vibration and sound.
I will get used to it in due time..

One criteria I had for this car was that I could toss a mattress into the back and sleep in it at the bash..

what a neighborhood.. when stuff like that happens around here, it makes the local news..

I have a pre test appointment at the Dr today.. in about a week they will test my de-fib to make sure it is secured to my heart.. then (or today) they might lift the ban on how much or little weight I can lift..

I hope we don't get too much rain,, It is actually drying up a bit now that most of the snow is gone..
up nort , they are still snow covered , I hear ..

Our river juuuuust made it over the banks.. not bad for as much snow that melted..

One year the river got so high, that the kids in the house nearest to the river were driving their ski boat in the yard around the house ..

everybody got quiet about the puppies.. most of them want a female.. there is only one..
I am going to tell the guy from Duluth that the female is gone.. he is going to have her fixed, so why not take a male and have him fixed ? the end result is basically the same, this guy has an older nuetered Maremma.. He said it weighs 150 pounds.. he said it is not fat, just huge.. I think there might be just a little fat involved ..

As soon as I can get some help, I am moving my hatching operation out to the guinea coop..
there is everything out there that I need, a concrete floor, a large brooder pen that can handle a couple hundred new chicks.. no stink in the house.. did I mention, no stink in the house ?

Jim- good luck at the dr. Also, I've been looking for the report in the news, but it isn't there yet. I'll try to catch the couple later today to see if they're okay. (And to get the scoop) How much did you say that you're selling those pups for? Are they good guard dogs? LOL

yup, they are good guard dogs, but I doubt that they can stop a bullet ..

I saw a picture of a large yellowish dog one time.. I think it could have been a Chow ..

the guy cut off all the long hair and left only the hair from the front elbows to the nose..
from a distance it looked like a lion.. that's what you need ...

It is GORGEOUS out here in Milwaukee today! All of the windows are open--no screens yet but I'l going to have to scrub all of them today and get them up. I hate putting dirty screens in dirty windows, so today is window and post office and laundry day and tomorrow is grooming day. The buns don't know it yet but they're in for a fun weekend. :p

Which reminds me! I have two black French/English Angora bucks up for new homes...they don't come with pedigrees but they're good fibre babies. $50 each, they were born in November 2013. Super friendly and cuddly, unless you come over after grooming day, then they're surly. *grin* If anyone knows of anyone looking, send 'em my way!

Jim, what kind of dogs? I'm pretty happy with my Cardi, he's a good watch dog, but living by my lonesome with two kids makes me want something bigger too. Plus my guy does better with an alpha around.

This is an exclamation point filled post! It's lovely out and the sun! The breeze! The windows are open!!! I can hear the girls and they're happy out there too.

Hello out there! Yes, it sure is a nice day after the rain we got last night. But with the sun out I hope it dries out a bit. And yes, still mostly snow covered yard and can't let my babies out to forage yet. But they do enjoy dabbling and wading through the mud puddles! And trying to swim in the foot deep water that collected in front of our juvie pheasant pen. Lol.

Pheasants starting to lay a bit more frequently, about 10 eggs already in bator. The 2 chicks do great but not sure bout the other 5 eggs. Don't see a beak in the bubble yet. Maybe they didn't make it? :( gonna wait a coupla more days before taking them out. Then lockdown on my saxony ducks on Monday. Can't wait to see those!

beautiful day. Spent the morning at the dentist for me, doctor for my son, got a future allergist appointment at Childrens hospital and now home waiting for the microwave repair guy to come. Working on Dh for a bunny...a small indoor one this time. We had big angora mixes that were outside and the kids were young adn the three factors were too much. Love how the angora look and feel Kee but dont want to brush all that again. need a mini lop or similar! I think that will fly as a pet before another dog does around here. Sad but true, DH is not an animal lover. Morgan and I have that gene in leaps and bounds. Andrew is indifferent.
Oh and I need to get some pictures of my chicks up... I know I have a certain roo in one of the BCM, not sure on the other chicks. The chentecler is almost 6 weeks and comb is just getting a little pinking up...but they have such a small cushion, hard to tell.

Dog is growling all day at new neighbors moving in...many cars, people and moving vans...guess he will sleep good tonight.

ok better start some cleaning around here! have a good day

Kristi, Cuties has the most ADORABLE bunnies, and they are minis!!!

I wonder how many positions one can apply for at a company and not seem desperate?

Phone interview this morning with a company that has my resume in for 2 other positions. It would be nice to land just one of them.........

Heading out tonight with the DH to pick up Easter Candy at Hughes in Oshkosh, then having dinner with the ex-boss and his wife. His job search is in the dumps as well.

Difficult to find a job that is going to come marginally close to what you were doing as a manager and with 22 years of experience.

I was supposed to get out taxes done today, I do not think that is going to happen at this rate. Too many other things to do before we head out.

It has clouded over up here, so the temps are around 55*. Anything is better than the 20's they are predicting for early next week.
