Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Vicki, so sorry to hear about your new chickies :,(
Kildare, how about 4weeks? I'll wait. He is a good boy.
Awaiting the end of the work day here. I was hoping forna quicky bareback ride before dark. But it is beginning to look a little like rain.
jim, we lucked out. And found a guy super close. That will supply us each winter at a good price. Very cool guy!

I am still alive..

I hope Dora shows up soon..

I purchased some expensive Silver laced Wyandottes from some big breeder for an out ragious price and they arrived sick. I sent one off for testing and it came back positive for ILT. I have been reading up about it but I really do not know what I am going to do. I had them in isolation, but I did not always change my shoes. I might have cross contaminated. I know it says 4-10 days incubation..but is that always true? If you have any experience with ILT can you give me a call or email me?

Vicki

Sorry to hear this. You can put them on antibiotics to help ward off secondary infections and give supportive care- vitamins/electrolytes in the water and let it run it's course. These birds will always be carries, you may want to get the vaccine and give all your other birds it annually. As far as I know, ILT doesn't carry through the egg but it might effect the hatchability. Stress causes it to come out. Good Luck.

Hi All!

Delish.... WOW.... that really, really $ucks! Now I bet you'll be scrubbing and spraying down EVERYTHING! Can you get a copy of the test results to send to the people you got them from? Got to wonder how many flocks got infected by other birds he sold.

Hope you caught it soon enough.

That turkey should be "due" soon. Guess I watch to see if babies show up in 10 days or so, then move them in and hope they didn't catch anything in the mean time.

Night All!

good morning, had my first cuppa already,,

Is there anybody in the state who did not get some rain NOW ????

I have never seen a storm,, ever,, that thundered and lasted as long as this one did..
continuous thunder for hours and hours.. there are several roads all around us that are flooded..
that is a rare situation ..

I hope Dora picked a high spot to hide.. or the pups might have webbed feet ..

Cind, I am thinking your turkey is due soon..

I wonder what to do today.. I have been going to different places for coffee each morning,,
tried IHOP yesterday,, was not impressed with their pancakes.. and the coffee and cakes came to $10.38 . not including tip.. the service was very good,.. but for a daily watering hole, they are out .

I need chicken feed soon,, I like the food and coffee at the feed mill cafe ..
ETA. I had coffee at Dunkin Donuts,, good coffee.. dining room was dounright cold..

Those of you who live in the central area of the state, what can you tell me about Nueske's? They have a job posting I am interested in (as a last resort) and would like some personal input about the company before I send off my stuff.

I say last resort due to the distance from my house combined with lack of major roads to get there and the amount of deer I would need to wade through every day........
