Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Quote:
My wife is already wearing her Packer sweatshirt AND pants. With any hope, she won't have to pull out the cheesehead and face paint.

We have an Austalian student staying with us (who is AFRAID of chickens!!!) and she is even all decked out in Packer wear today. I hope they all go to the neighbors' to watch--then I can have quiet. Football has been on all day and I cant listen to my radio:rant
I ust cam in from watering again and that wind chill is vicious! How can a wind out of the South be so cold?...oh yea, it was 37 in Florida this morning! My brother feels like he is back in WI! Got the woodstove cranked and I am having a cold one. Happy Sunday! Terri O

We are having a great day too! Peaches is safely home. It was so nice to meet fordmommy and her boys wish there had been more time to visit! Her youngest has the dreaded green upper lip disease. [A cold] Peaches would shake his head until I figured out that it was the vibration from the road and adjusted my speed. He layed right down in the straw enjoyed a Sunday drive. We talked about this and that but mostly about his new girlfriends. We got home and I took him in the run and he went right to the cracked corn like nothing had changed. I gave him a few strokes under his neck [he likes that] then he heard the girls behind the run door. He crowed twice to announce himself. It was so funny! The girls made noises I'd never heard them make before. Almost a giggle. I let the girls out and Brownie went beak to beak with him. Then backed down to see what he was scatching around. Then he did the leg thing that fordmommy told me Cpt. Sparrow did. He was really strutin his stuff! The girls were awstruck! I thought I heard one of them make the comment. WHAT A STUD! Then they all went into the coop and checked out his new digs and got a drink of water. Then it was on. About 4 different hens tried to tell him that they were in charge. He quelled the uprising swiftly and has established himself as king. It's good to be the King! Their already going in and out of the coop together as if it was a normal day. Thank you so much for him! He is such a good boy! Sorry fordmommy for not getting a sleave printed up it was a last minute thought. Hope you like it if not then you have a fancy new coaster. Zohbug that was an excellent idea of the breeder to put them on your doubting daughters lap. Now she'll be the doteing daughter. Bigzio no I haven't but I was eyeballin them. Look pretty cool to me! But now with my new breeding program well underway think I'll behave myself. It won't be easy. T.O I had -3 this morning but it''s trying for 30*now. But the wind is Nas-T! I've been grinning a lot and now my face hurts. Peaches is soo coool! Packers, beer, and chicken watching is the rest of the days agenda. I got back in the Jeep after getting Peaches and realized I hadn't made proper introductions. Forgive me I was just excited !!

You know, I was thinking after meeting you both, Boy! L sure tooks like my sister in law. She didn't give a baby up for adoption about 35 years ago did she???? Wow! The resemblence!

fordmommy; No she 6 years younger than me. She laughed and said at times she wished she had given up her daugther

but then their would not have been the grandaughter. She has a lot of cousins on her dads side that she's never met. [long story] And she takes after her dads side. So it's possible a relative may have done so. I went out to put them to bed and the girls were on top or the nest boxes like normal and here was poor Peaches standing in the run doorway with the wind blowing up his behind. I went in the run and picked him right up without any fuss and walked him around to the walk in door to the coop. I held him and stuck my nose in his neck for good long while and reassured him that it was OK it was HIS coop now. I set him on the reinstalled roost but he flew down so that's where it stands right now. I'll go check on him one more time tonight. He might spend the night on the floor but it's about 6" deep in straw and pine chips. He'll be OK! He'll adapt to his new surroundings. He smells different than the girls must be the testosterone. But I like it. Can't get over how gentle he is must be his upbringing. I entertained the idea of bringing him into bed. My cat Bob sleeps on the outside of me and L's cat Taz Devil sleeps on the outside of her that leaves the middle open for Peaches. Gonna need a bigger bed! Don't worry things will be fine! Nemo; tell me she took those jinxed pants off, not trying to be a warpo. It just comes out sometimes. Hope you don't take offense! None meant! Come on Pack!

Oh, Pack. Better luck next year.

Dr Ha Ha, My flock usually goes to bed around 8-9pm. So it might just be that he's not tired.

That's about the time that I go out there for the last time to check on them and at that time I shut off the ceiling light. The red light is still on when it's this cold though.

My darn flock only gave up 4 eggs today. I think it's retaliation for taking their man away.

They WILL get over it. ( I command it!

) I have to go out there still yet tonight. I had one hen just going in the boxes around 5pm so I still will probably get another or 2.

Thanks I hope that explains it. I was a little worried. I put the girls to bed at dark but get them up early. Think he's going to be plenty tired from now on.

He'll adjust to the new time frame in time. Going out now to make sure things are OK but I'm sure they are. I'll be listening for a wake up crow tomorrow. Think I'll be up before him, I always am. Thanks again!
