Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

the best way to learn is from your own eggs...collect one egg a day and place it in an egg carton. After 12 days check air cells on all the eggs. You will see by the air cells that as eggs age it shrinks. New eggs have little to no air cells and all shipped eggs should look like that. If they don't, ship them back and ask for replacements.
Just my editor personality...but you have typed it backwards Deli...the cell gets LARGER as the egg ages does it not? As you said in your second sentence!

Hey all!

Found out where all of the hens have been laying......they decided the rabbit pen was a great place, found 12.

I had Theo out tied up with the chickens. He chewed through the leash and attacked a hen. Ugh!!!!

My dad is having surgery tomorrow to get a stent put in. He'll be at St. Luke's in Milwaukee.

Not much else happening here.
Good luck to your Dad! He is in good hands for sure.
I found out where all my eggs were going too...see above post! LOL!
I have an announcement to make too! I dont have pics...just a video and I havent uploaded it to you-tube yet--BUT TOMMY IS A GRANDFATHER!!!!!! I will try to get still picks of his kids tomorrow or on the weekend.

I think that is all for tonight except that if Cind would like to send the sharp-shooter over here...I have a fox that needs attention!

ETA: Cind--I believe that my Turken is a descendant from your Turk from so long ago!

Hi All!

Hope the rest of the night is quiet here. The solar lights I put in the back of the coop didn't last long tonight, not enough sun today to charge them I guess.
I went on facebook and got a few trappers ready if Adam doesn't get it this weekend.

Terri....I would be interested in a couple of Turks off spring when they get about POL. Too risky to have little ones here now

And or some of the new batch. I'm sure Adam would love to hunt fox but I had a hard time getting him to squeeze me and what we need done in.

CS... good luck to your dad.

Jim, if I would have seen it I would have shot it, after all, it already sprayed, wasn't going to get stinkier. But it was 3am and no sense in worrying the neighbors if I couldn't get it.

Guess that's it..... Night All!

Chickenscratch, I thought ypu were walking Theo this whole time! Not necessarily walk off the property, but drive off then walk.
I tend to use either chain or pinch collars when training. Be sure that they are used only durring training/ walking sessions. They work best when fit snug. And kept right under the chinm the top of the collar should be just behind the smart bump.ni can take pics of our dogs training collars on if needed.
And you must always be careful most with the chain collar. As they can cause trachea damage. So can pulling on a flat collar. Be sure your corrections are a pop on the leash. Not a pull. He is huge. And likely already stronger than you. You will be unable to pull him back. But a quick pop on the leash will get his attention. Most important part is the release! !!!! Be sure after the pop that you immediately release the pressure.
If you have a smart phone, I have just learned how to send a video via text. And would gladly send one of the right verses wrong way :)
I would however recommend driving off the property for walks as Theo is still young. And you want it instilled to not walk off the property.
Good luck to your dad!

Cind, glad you are getting the critter problem under control. We don't have those issues too much. Jist the persistent hawks :/

Is anybody planning to go to the fdl swap? We are. I didn't get anything for myself in bd. Just the kids and hubby did. Perhaps I will find something in fdl :)

Fish Fry Friday to everyone. Best Wishes for your Dad cs. Hospitals scare the heck out of me!

Nice job on the coop sclark. The multiple colored roof looks good!

Nice Fall weather we are having. I'll be back at the wood pile tomorrow for sure. I needed to give my old back a little break from swinging the saw.

Well, good for Zeke to be able to see life off the road, and more time at home. I love my time at home, and don't miss working one single bit.

Have Fun...bigz

midnight, everybody is offline must be gone to bed,
me too in just a few minutes..
lab work came back.. my blood is just fine.. rapid heart rate must just have been a glitch ..
I agree with cooties.. I wouldn't lead the dog off of the property,, might give him the idea it is OK to go there on his own..

lead him around on the property where you want him to go.. or stay within ..

Hi All!

My son came out to hunt coyote a bit tonight but the people down the way had a bonfire going with friends over so it was a bust. He almost got that d@mn skunk a couple of times though. He could smell it, heard it, got a glimpse of it but never got it in his sights. If it wasn't so dark (like if we had some moon light) he probably would have had it. Going to try Sat. night for a while, if he doesn't get the 'yote I'm calling one of the trappers.

Guess that's it.... Night All!

Thanks bigz and Judy. I blame my ability to build on my ex-husband who never fixed anything, house or cars so I decided to be self sufficient and just learn trial and error. Upon being super frugal and re-purposing anything I possibly can.

I picked the old cabinet up off cl for free and covered the bottom as I'm making that my brooder area for the Chickie's and the upper will be housing one of the chicken breeds. I still have to make one more seperate area for one of the breeds.

Nesting boxes have full access from outside.
I stayed up til after 10 and got the East wall insulated and almost covered. Have to hunt around for more materials to cover the walls. I still have to figure out what I'm going to cover the floor with.
Sammie I did fine more of that quancet tarp but not nearly big enough to cover your roof, my end up using it to cover the walls in some places. Found some fancy lathed posts I forgot I had in the barn and going to put those under the eaves so it looks like a little cabin. If I would of had one of those lay down lawn chairs, I would of slept in there last night. Hubby says, "You would, why don't you just bring the chickens in there and sleep with them." I said I would sleep with them, he shook his head. Lol

good morning,

got up at just after daybreak to try to corral the guineas.. too late.. they were not in the mood to be herded either, so I am waiting patiently for them to go get some corn in the lean-to.. I have a guy coming at 10 to buy some.. he might have to put it off until tomorrow..

I am going fishing right after I get done messing with the guineas..

nothing else happening..

have a lot of things to put away before the snow flies, but the spirit hasn't hit me yet..
