I'm fostering ducks again this winter. Not sure why they want me to take their ducks again. Last year they had 2 cayugas and a rouen. They didn't come get them until June, by then 2 of them had gone broody and must have gotten taken by predators. Now they have the cayuga and a couple of call ducks. I guess I'm taking them again on Sunday. I told them they need to get them sooner in the spring. Maybe the calls will be nice looking and I can hatch their eggs they are all hens.

I got quite a good start on the plucker today,, found a source for the good plucker fingers I was looking for.. a bit more expensive than those on Ebay, but they are American made in Chicago.
and,, I know they are very good quality ..

I have about half the wood planed and rough cut to size.. and I was correct, I do have to go select some more oak planks ..

NasT here today too.. but it was not too bad in the shop, even with no fire going.. I will have enough ends and trimming from the planks to use as firewood if the need arises..

Sandi, do you have any hedges ? guess you will have to plant a new habitat, eh ?

I pigged out on fresh ho-made chicken soup for supper,, it was really good..

I wish I would have picked out the planks while it was light out,, I could be out there cutting it up right now.. Oh well, there's always tomorrow,,

I JUST had a call from one of my Hmong sweethearts.. she bought 20 guineas from me a while back when I was selling them for $5.oo/each,, they were young and smallish then,,

she wanted these for $5.oo/each also.. I told her I have them on craigs list for $10.oo/each,, they are a lot bigger now..

"how much if I take all of them ?" hmmm tough question..

OK you take ALL of them $6.oo/each..

she will call at noon to see if I have them corralled..

Fish Fry Friday To Everyone....yep, the deer stand was less than comfortable this afternoon. I'm gonna be moving stuff around to get things out of the snow that is coming....nice winter pic frenchie....but it would be nice if it was Christmas....dang, we need to get to Thanksgiving first!

How is Chuck doing with the hunting?

Piled more wood today...down to about 10 hours of cutting to go.....

Well guess the post I thought I posted this afternoon didn't show up !
To tired to repost it all now though.
Would like to let you know Chickenscratch that your daughter and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Our newest member of the family is named Hugh Hefner. A hedgehog. I bought him for my nephew last year for his birthday. Well he doesn't have room for him at school and so Hugh lived at my brothers. Brother said he stunk so long story short he drove home with me Sunday. And yes his Sh!t stinks.. trust me.
TO can you send me info on raising meal worms again. Hugh likes them I guess.

BigZ I am very jealous of your wood pile! We have a tiny one and oil sure isnt too cheap this year...guess we will be just slipping further behind...especially if it is going to snow this week and get REALLY chilly! I am glad that I got 2 windows' storms set today...got them washed and hung with new curtains too! I am liking having this cleaning lady...yeah, I have to pay her but because she is here I work on stuff too. Win Win!

OK--I need to head out to lock up. I found out that I have the weekend off! I need to go and pick up some pigs tomorrow (got a great deal) and set something up for them before I do...then I need to go to my Mon's and do some stuff for her...then we head to the cottage (Mom's) to winterize it so she can sell it in the spring! Yeah...then back to work on Monday...wait---what happened to the weekend?

Well it was a one long visit to town. I left the grocery store and pulled into the laundromat parking lot to use the wifi. Plus had no scrapper to get the snow off the back window so turned on the rear defroster and hopped on the internet. Thought something was going wrong when my wipers started slowing down. Then car just quit. Then wouldn't start ! Tried calling ET and of course he didn't answer. In the mean time my phone battery was dying. Had to pee. Go into laundromat and bathroom was blocked off cause they had new tile installed. To far to ice skate over to grocery store...go back to cold car...with no jacket. Called and text neighbor...no luck. About an hour later ET called to ask where I was. Never did see that I left him two messages and a text. Grrrggghhh! Said he would come to town and jump me (actually the car) lol when he got there the neighbor called back. ET started looking in my car for the cables...dah they were in the car....the other car at home ! So he had to go back home to get them (15 mile round trip) car started but wouldn't stay running. Thinking alternator or could it just be bad battery connection ???? Jim???? I have noticed once in a while the brake light was coming on and blinking with other lights too. Weird but ET is in no way a mechanic so I didn't mention it to him or look into it. So now my car is sitting at the laundromat. Was freezing by the time I got into the warm truck. Guess it's time to pull out the mittens and coat hey? Wanted to stay home tomorrow but guess we'll be back in town tomorrow!
Bigz...ET didn't get a bow license and may not get a gun license either. He is tired of the poachers and illegal baiters in the neighborhood. He is having problems with the vision in the eye that he had cataract surgery on two years ago. I need to make an appointment for him. I think that might be part of the reason. He did go for a long walk out in the woods today but I didn't ask him what he saw if anything. He did say on his way back to get the cables that there was a big buck across the road.
Well time to go check on Hughey. I'd take a picture but he sleeps all day and I never catch him in the act at night. I'll see if he's played with his toys in the morning.

Now we can go from the burnt down Original Famous Daves to Wausau's Own Famous JIM! Lol.

Had snow on and off again today, even a bit of slight sleet about an hour ago but it passed. For now. The ducks love it tho, gives them the entire yard to dig holes in the soggy grounds!

Mucked out their houses again as they were nasT with all the rain/wet/snow now. But I didn't throw out my back again! Yeay! Now they're gonna have one cozy night in new straw. Just gonna get some more Aspen bedding next week so I can fluff it out and stretch usage a bit longer still. We'll see.

Had some homemade BBQ pulled pork with mashed taters for dinner and now I'm wore out! Or a nap. Whichever. Might just do that. Yea, I know. I get old now.

Thinking bout heading to Ladysmith tomorrow or Hayward. Not sure yet. Just wanna get outta the house for a bit. What you up to tomorrow sclark? Need a change of scenery before I go bonkers.

That's it for now. Besides trying to make some german sweets and maybe a cake. Who knows? Later all!

Windy Day for sure. Dang that sucks about Chucks eye....It took me years to be able to see after my cataract surgery...went back many times for laser to clear up snakes and such.Hope he can get out for the gun hunt anyway.

Gonna be a cold son of a gun on the bow stand later today.
