Good Friday Fish Fry Afternoon All.... It's official that the second annual bigzio bash will be at Christus Memorial Camp Located at N11605 Boy Scout Road Clintonville, Wi 54929 Easy access just off Hwy 45. Camp is reserved for Friday June 24, Sat the 25 and Sun the 26th. Please mark your calendar and try to make the annual event! I hope others can help in any way with the preperations. BL4 can you help with the BYC banner again?

Holy Cow Doc, I thought the northern was caught on a tip-up. That makes the catch even more impressive with a diddle pole and #14 treble. White bass here for the fry tonight.
Went and picked up another batch of venzun sausage today....garlic summer and mett sausage. I'll bring some to the bash. This was made at Kropf's German Meat Market in Bowler.

Hello Everyone,

I've been reading all the posts but just haven't had much to say. Well last night I butchered my favorite rooster.

I was hoping to avoid killing him but with our chickens being illegal he became too much of a risk. He used to crow only when I came down by him and a few times during the day but it was quiet enough that no one outside would hear. He began crowing ALL the time and it got very loud. I tried re-homing him but I'm sure you all know how hard it is to re-home an Easter Egger lone Rooster. So, finally late last night he kept crowing over and over super loud and a person walking their dog in front of our house starting looking over so I knew they could hear something. I felt so bad. He was one of the nicest chickens and the only one my 1 1/2 year old DD could pick up and carry around. My uncle said he might have taken him but unfortunately my rooster and his were very dominant and would have fought constantly. He was too small for us to eat but I have all of my show cats on the raw diet, so they enjoyed him which made me feel like he wasn't killed for nothing. I will have to dedicate the next show one of my cats win to him.

Does anyone on here have any Quail available? I tried posting on the Wanted section but no one has responded. I am only looking for either a small number of hatching eggs or some females. Currently I have 2 male Coturnix and 3 females and really need more girls. Also I have a lonely male button quail that would love a little lady friend. He enjoys pacing his cage, and long walks on the beach. He own his own home complete with a large 20 gallon long tank, indoor pool, sandbox, and unlimited food. LOL!! So if anyone on here has some eggs or some beautiful ladies that need a caring man please let me know. Thanks!

Thanks Bigz for setting things up! Glad that's over.

Now on to food. We had a lot of beans last year. Maybe I'll make a big batch of egg noodles and pies and. Ya we were freakin and his drag was screamin. He fishes with them new fangled rods. With reels. It was hooked just inside the corner of the mouth still don't know how it managed to miss the teeth. #14 trebles have been our little secret for a very long time. They changed our miss to catch ratio greatly. We use #16 when we can find them but for some reason their getting harder to tie.

They were hard to tie 20 years ago. GC sorry to hear about your roo but glad it didn't go to waste. Cute story about your quail. WCc sounds like a very bad situation is now rectified. Think his name might end up in the paper one day. TO those eggs have me thinkin I'll have to make some hot ones with all the eggs we've been getting. Looks like a cayene in there? BigZ, I will reserve it if I need to; BUT: we need a thread on the chickenstock page AND somebody else would need to bring it on Friday since I will be most likely be working that Friday evening until at least 6PM.......

So I am thinking it would probably be better if somebody else reserved the banner.

It is easy to do, the only thing you do is sign up and then pay to ship it off again (I believe it was about $10)...


Whoever starts the thread on the chickenstock should probably sort what everyone is bringing so we know how many of each dish are going to be there or how many desserts vs salads etc.......

Early day tomorrow and date night tonight! I am thinking I will be working on 4 hours of sleep tomorrow! Good thing it looks to be an easy day!

Woop! One of the showgirl/silkie eggs is pipping. A little late, but good healthy cheeping today when there was none tomorrow, so I'm just hoping I cooked them a little cool.

The bash sounds fun, hope I get to attend at least one of the days.

I just got some AWESOME NEWS!!!
where I keep my chickens, my barn owner told me that Muffy our EE FINALLY!!!! has started laying.. she is WAY over due.. but we have 3!! 3!! eggs!! woot woot..

so I will definately have to get an incubator.. (anyone have a used one for sale?)
Silkie/EE crosses!! or OEGB/EE crosses, my two itty bitty men are her main squeeze.. well it could be my WCBP/SLW cross roo, but he will soon be in the other pen with the BIG ladies!! LOL

Still waiting on my Ameraucana ladies to begin laying. Another Marans pullet joined the laying group though, and a MUCH darker egg than the others who have lighter eggs with dark speckles. This egg is smooth, all over dark. Guess which hen will be producing my next Marans layers.

I just read the post about the meet-up. I soooo want to go! But I don't know what I would do with the dogs or our chickens.

We can't get "pet sitters" because Hades is too big for other people to handle and he doesn't listen to strangers and because the chickens are illegal I can't get anyone to watch them. I could always just throw out the eggs from that weekend and leave the auto feeder and waterers really full..... I would still have to figure out what to do with the dogs and we don't have anything to sleep in. LOL! We don't own tents or anything like that. Can you bring dogs to the campsite?
