Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning,

Hi JJ,, hope to hear more from you..

Birdman, I hatched a few peacock eggs,, the biggest problem with them was fertility,,
I think the high humidity at hatch is more critical than during incubation,,
I like the 47% incubation number..

I have enough trays to fill 5 sportsmans,, I can double deck stack the trays in two of the sportsmans, I do that with chicken and guinea eggs.. it works very well for me..

from the picture , you do not have the height necessary to stack your trays..

with the older style GQF's I can reposition the turning racks to accomplish the room I need..

measure the space between the racks,, you need about 7 inches.. +/-

then you have to modify a couple of the egg trays,, I have done this and it is very simple..

If you double stack the trays, you can put off buying another unit a little longer.. and you will almost double the capacity of eggs..

I sold the girl puppy yesterday,, she went to a really nice large farm,,
I got an email from a lady who I was emailing back and forth with .. she is now disappointed because she really wanted a female puppy,, too bad,, she had weeks to make up her mind,,
If you snooze, you lose ........

it says that you can double stack quail eggs...to get the large number but i dont think i have seven inches between racks....about only three inches
yeah, that is what it looked like to me,,

I don't have any quail trays,, if you stack them, how tall are they ?

I cut the posts off of the upper stacked one to gain some height .. You can still use them as lower trays, but you can not stack any trays on them,,

All this GQF talk, I have 12 Chukar trays I'd sell as I have no use for them. Apparently after looking up the model number KRC59 it states bantam/pheasant trays. I just know the guy used them for hatching chukar and I don't use them.

Jim, that is wonderful news about the pup. I think she will make that son very happy.

birdman, nice units (incubators, people). Sheesh.

Cind, I hope your guineas didn't get frozen to the tree.

i dont have any quail trays but i do have the pheasant blue trays....which measure 3 inches stacked...so the quail ones have to be way smaller....my guess...

Quote: I looked up the quail trays at Cutler's .. they do look like they would fit , double stacked in your GQF,, they did not list the height in the dimensions, though,,

maybe someone on chz hds has one that they can measure for us ?? or maybe one of the other threads might be able to do that for us ..

you are not hatching quails anyhow, are you ?

I never hatched pheasants,, there is a huge pheasant pfarm a few miles from me,, but I think they just raise them out,, I will try to find out where they get their chicks from.. these guys are some sort of relation to my GS..

no quail yet....as i will be getting some by the end of the year...and also but putting up the gqf 15 pen battery for the quail...you can build these units for way cheaper but it so nicer when you busy to just buy and put up...like the incubators...the fridgebator is still in workings....and will prolly be put off till i feel like doing this as i have way to much building for now to catch up on...seven 10x30 peafowl pens...and some hoop pens, and some of you grow out pens...ahhh...never ending

OK,
I just put a question about the height of the egg trays on a quail forum..
Let's see what kind of answers, if any,, that will bring..

@birdman55 What are your plans for all those birds, besides feeding and housing them?
