Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I'm with you nothing accomplished today Jim, except chores and collected eggs a couple times.

It's hard to compare boxed shipped chicks the day they were born to chicks that have been in the brooder and handled some...however I do prefer chicks that don't need to shipped for a few days....and yes, all breeds have their different behaviors and attitudes....some more flighty and some real friendly and docile, while others standoffish.

Tomorrow it's clean the pen with the concrete run...the rain has created a less than desirable sloppy mess...I need to jb weld some holes in the steel roof that leaks there....it was used steel and has some old screw holes that need plugged. They were silicone caulked, but the roof rake used in the winter musta scraped the plugs off...jb will be a long term fix.

Hi All!

I really don't feel ready for the bash

This ink project has me flustered. I've made ink before, several years ago, no big deal. This time Murphy and his law has budded in at every turn! What should have taken 3 days TOPS has turned into almost 2 weeks and it's still not "right". I can't seem to get the supplies I need and the substitutes have failed!

What the He11! I have already spent my profit on the ink and am digging into profit on the quills

This shouldn't happen! I know how to do it!

OK.... end rant.

So.... Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Nothing else new.... Night All!

Here is the latest project I just finished. It was a test for a company I go thru for quilting supplies. Got it in just under the wire. Some days are like that. Am letting the girls out to free range for a while each day. Have to time it tho, csuse the dogs have to go out and cannot let them out with the chickees free. Bandit would not intentionally hurt them but she would in just trying to play with them. Williebean, he just barks and bounces. I figure they would not like that either.

I have to go out every so often to check that they are still around.....the furthest they have roamed is the front yard.

Someone was talking about wanting Guineas in middle or Southern WI. There is a post on Facebook on the Wisconsin Chicken Buying, Selling and Trading page for eggs....

Cockatiel looks really cute Jim - Hope you sell them away!

Need to get these chickens out of my garage to set up for the enormous rummage sale of moms stuff. Hoping my friend drops off the Kennel so I can get them situated. Hoping the males dont get too aggressive. Figure 14 weeks for dual purpose birds should be close to full size? I will switch them to a meat feed when they are moved.

Back to the drawing board with mom stuff... she is back in hospital and the "perfect" senior living apartment we were going to sign the papers for this weekend just went down the drain as we look for assisted living with a shuttle to get her to dialysis treatment. sigh...she is so down too...dont know how to boost her up. Getting old stuff sucks.

Rainy Morning here...yep, all the outside projects are getting moved to another day....hope I can get my squash garden tilled and planted before too long....I need a good 100 days growing time for them.

Hope you get your ink situation figured out Cind...must be some sources available for the stuff you need?

Hoping for some dry weather....looks like the weekend will be dry....might be some chances Friday though.

Nice quilt theme firstchic....Suzie has done a lot of quilts over the years.

I am sure Suzie is way better at this quilting thing than I am. I have sewn off and on over the years, mainly clothes for myself or my kids when they were little. I just stared quilting this year when my son bought me a BabyLoc....great machine. I sold one rag quilt about a month ago. Maybe she could give me some advice.

kristip Sorry to hear about your mom... in the long run though you are doing what is best for her and I hope you take some comfort in that.

Tonight we plan on finishing the floor in the chicken coop- it will take some scraping and nailing but should be ready for the Blackjack tomorrow! I am so ready for these buggers to be out of the house. They are in the mudroom but that doesn't mean we don't have chicken dust EVERYWHERE.

Some of my girls are already getting their body feathers- I have two EE that are bigger than the rest. My for-sure roo, poor guy, has like no feathers yet, lol! He is very uppity already, checking everything out for his girls. A total sweetheart to them; hope he stays that way (and hope he's the only roo!) I'm still thinking I have way more roos than I planned on. DH will be eating chicken for a year the way this is going...
